Emma Update
Current mood: contemplative
Category: Life
First of all I would like to say a warm Thank You to all of you that have included us in your thoughts and prayers these last few weeks. And secondly, I would like to apologize for waiting so long to send an update. These last weeks have been so hectic and exhausting ... I just wanted to send an update when I had some real news to give.
This past Wednesday, 7/16/2008, Emma had the stitches from her Cheek removed. The stitches on her lip were not quite ready to come out so the Doctor decided to wait another week. Before we left he also told us that there was a possibility that the scab could just fall off ... is he a mind reader? It did exactly that this morning ... it fell right off! One HUGE scab ... right onto the breakfast tray. Looked like a dead Cockroach! Her lip underneath looks a bit raw ... but a beautiful healthy pink!!! There is some scarring, but not at all what I thought there would be. She does still have some more healing to do ... But I am so relieved that she is going to look like herself ... for the most part. When she gets older she may need some minor treatments to plump up her lip ... or maybe some cosmetic tattoo if needed? All that remains to be seen.
I just wanted you all to know, that she looks good, is in good spirits, and we thank you all for your emotional support. Your outpouring of love and support really helped to pull me through this rough time.
All our love -
Patience
(New photos of her without her huge scab have been posted in her album.)

Emma’s Broken Face
Current mood: distressed
Category: Pets and Animals
Some of you may or may not know, that on the 4th of July, 2008 my daughter, Emma, was bitten by a Dog(Lab?/Chow mix). Her face was torn up pretty badly. Her upper lip was torn from her face, her left cheek gaping open, and a large open wound on her forehead with multiple scratches around her eyes. My heart is absolutely broken I am distraught. My husband is devastated, and our son is confused, and we have reason to beleive that he saw the whole thing happen - like I did. My daughter will have to wear her nightmare on her face for the rest of her life ... and suffer through many surgeries! If her lip cannot be saved - I can't even think of that possibility right now! A plastic surgeon has graphed the remainder of her lip back on, but we are not sure if it will take. She is now undergoing Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy twice-a-day at Loma Linda Childrens Hospital to see if it will help ... it is not looking good so far, but I will keep you all posted here on my blog.
I wanted to send this to you all as a reminder of how unpredictable a dog can be. Please, when ever you are at a friends house - especially with your children ... ask that the dog be put away. This dog had been thought to be good with kids ... but not that day.
Please keep my precious Emma in your thoughts and prayers.
She is still my beautiful little girl ...
Patience

If you said you did not want to be my friend, then forget me ...
Current mood: annoyed
Category: Blogging
Isn’t it funny how the very people that tell you to leave them alone, are the very ones that always come looking for you first? Hmm.... funny, and yet disturbing and annoying. I wish that people would learn to stick to their decisions ... they cannot seem to really commit to anything.
If you do not want me in your life, in ALL my glory - good and bad - then go away!!! I have adjusted nicely without you for a very long time ... I don’t need or want you back in it. You know who you are ... stop looking at my profile!!! I am tired of having to block all your different accounts!

Ghost with a hole in her head ...
Current mood: blah
Category: Dreams and the Supernatural
When I was a kid my brother used to babysit these two boys, Buddy & Michael. I grew up with them, they were almost family to me ... we spent lots of time together as my brother had to watch me too.
One summer afternoon, I would say that I was about 9 or 10 years old. Michael and I were in his room, cleaning up after making a huge mess. We had grabbed a handfull of toys and opened his closet door, and there SHE was. There was a woman just standing there. She was lovely, and looked so sad. She had shoulder length black hair, bangs and a white headband. A White mock-turtleneck, sleeveless ribbed blouse. Blue & White gingham, fitted, capri pants. No socks, white slip-on shoes ... like Keds. I think we stared at her for a good minute or so, speechless and shocked! neither one of us could seem to move, neither did she really. She just looked to and fro from Mike and I, like she wanted to say something but couldn't. I remember looking at her from up and down, then screamed when I saw her feet were floating about a foot off the ground! The hole in her forehead didn't even register in my memory until we were running away.
Years later, I was sitting with the building Manager talking about stuff. And out of the blue I thought to ask if she had ever found anyone dead before. (She had been the Manager since it was a roadside Motel.) Anyhow, she told me a sad story about a woman whose husband was leaving her for his pregnant girlfriend. He had picked up their son for the weekend, and when he left she checked the mail, stopped for a minute at the buildings "block party", cleaned the house, then climed into the vacant apartment behind her and shot herself in the head in the front closet. I then proceeded to tell her my story, and described her. The manager was so excited, she ran to her album and pulled out a picture taken that day at the "Block Party". I pointed her out. The manager was so floored with this ... I had never met this woman. She had killed herself 12 days before I moved into the buildning, and when we moved in I was just shy of turning 2.
The old building had been demolished a few years ago, and a new one is now in it's place. I wonder if she is still there ... or if she has finally found her peace?

How Gross is your Handbag?
Category: Fashion, Style, Shopping
Have you ever noticed gals who sit their handbags on public toilet floors -then go directly to their dining tables and set it on the table? Happens a lot! It's not always the 'restaurant food' that causes stomach distress. Sometimes "what you don't know 'will' hurt you"! Read on... Mom got so upset when guests came in the door and plopped their handbags down on the counter where she was cooking or setting up food. She always said that handbags are really dirty, because of where they have been. Smart Mom!!! It's something just about every woman carries with them. While we may know what's inside our handbags, do you have any idea what's on the outside? Women carry handbags everywhere; from the office to public toilets to the floor of the car. Most women won't be caught without their handbags, but did you ever stop to think about where your handbag goes during the day. "I drive a school bus, so my handbag has been on the floor of the bus a lot," says one woman. "On the floor of my car, and in toilets." "I put my handbag in grocery shopping carts, on the floor of the toilet," says another woman "and of course in my home which should be clean." We decided to find out if handbags harbour a lot of bacteria. We learned how to test them at Nelson Laboratories in Salt Lake, and then we set out to test the average woman's handbag. Most women told us they didn't stop to think about what was on the bottom of their handbag. Most said at home they usually set their handbags on top of kitchen tables and counters where food is prepared. Most of the ladies we talked to told us they wouldn't be surprised if their handbags were at least a little bit dirty. It turns out handbags are so surprisingly dirty, even the microbiologist who tested them was shocked. Microbiologist Amy Karen of Nelson Labs says nearly all of the handbags tested were not only high in bacteria, but high in harmful kinds of bacteria. Pseudomonas can cause eye infections, staphylococcus aurous can cause serious skin infections, and salmonella and e-coli found on the handbags could make people very sick. In one sampling, four of five handbags tested positive for salmonella, and that's not the worst of it. "There is fecal contamination on the handbags," says Amy. Leather or vinyl handbags tended to be cleaner than cloth handbags, and lifestyle seemed to play a role. People with kids tended to have dirtier handbags than those without, with one exception. The handbag of one single woman who frequented nightclubs had one of the worst contaminations of all. "Some type of feces, or possibly vomit" says Amy. So the moral of this story - your handbag won't kill you, but it does have the potential to make you very sick if you keep it on places where you eat. Use hooks to hang your handbag at home and in toilets, and don't put it on your desk, a restaurant table, or on your kitchen countertop. Experts say you should think of your handbag the same way you would a pair of shoes. "If you think about putting a pair of shoes onto your countertops, that's the same thing you're doing when you put your handbag on the countertops" - your handbag has gone where individuals before you have sneezed, coughed, spat, urinated, emptied bowels, etc! Do you really want to bring that home with you? The microbiologists at Nelson also said cleaning a handbag will help. Wash cloth handbags and use leather cleaner to clean the bottom of leather handbags. THIS IS WORTH SHARING!!! AND MEN PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO YOUR WIVES, GIRLFRIENDS OR DAUGHTERS!

| Your Personality Is |
|
Artisan (SP)
You are both grounded and flexible. You adapt well to new situations. You are playful and free spirited - but you are also dependable and never flaky. You don't do well in conservative, stuffy situations. It's probably very hard for you to keep a normal job or stay in school. You are always up for fun and adventure. Most people are too boring for you. You take risks and bend the rules. And if things don't work out, you chock it up to life experience. In love, you tend to take things quickly - but you have a huge problem with commitment. At work, you need to make your own rules. You're best suited to be an entrepreneur. With others, you are animated and physical. You prefer doing something with friends to just hanging out. As far as your looks go, you tend to be buff and in good shape. Your spend more time on your body than your clothes. On weekends, you need to keep active. From cooking up a storm to running a 5K, you wear yourself out.

Values Profile
Loyalty:
You don't really value loyalty. In your opinion, friendship should be earned. If you don't agree with someone, it doesn't matter how close you are. You'll let them (and everyone else know) exactly what you think.
Honesty:
You value honesty a fair amount. You're honest when you can be, but you aren't a stickler for it. If a little white lie will make a situation more comfortable, you'll go for it. In the end, you mostly care about "situational integrity."
Generosity:
You value generosity a fair amount. You are all about giving, as long as there's some give and take. Supportive and kind, you don't mind helping out a friend in need. But you know when you've given too much. You have no problem saying "no"!
Humility:
You don't really value humility. You don't have much to be humble about! And you might as well promote yourself, because no one else will. You're a pretty special person, and you let everyone know it.
Tolerance:
You value tolerance a fair amount. You are open to new cultures, beliefs, and ideas. You have very few prejudices that you're aware of. And while you are tolerant, you do stand true to what you believe. | ..> | ..>
