Dandelion Radio - July 2008 shows
Andrew Morrison: After getting a lot of airtime from extra shows during the last few months, Andy's back to just one two-hour show in July - but it's a rare find packed with gems. There an exclusive five track session from Ramp, the third specially-recorded live track from Eliza Newman's recent tour in the UK, as well as more tracks from wonderful unsigned acts Lanterns On The Lake and Alex Canasta. You'll also hear the usual guest spots, 'Scott's Funky Five Minutes' and 'Teresa's Tasty Tips'.
Dubster: It's Radiodubster's annual garage sale again. Yes, time to get down to the garage for an hour or 3 and have a good ransack through our unfeasibly large collection of vinyl and CDs, but take heed of the sign on the door "NO MUSIC SNOBS ALLOWED!" So leave your inhibitions at the door and prepare for a 3 hour browse back in time through indie, prog, psychedelic, techno, heavy metal, TV detective programme theme tunes (!) and too many other genres to mention. Come on down, with prices like these we're virtually giving it away!... ...what's that love? Nick Kershaw 12" picture disc? Thats 50 quid......hey that's a rare Jap import y'know ... yeah I know the Woolies sticker says £3.99, but ....
Mark Cunliffe: Crumbs, we've had more than half the year of new music and it's gone quicker than Ben Johnson on his way to the pharmacy. There's no let up here though. We have a Bong-Ra chum going by the name of Bong Selecta making like Mowgli in Epping Forest, kinda jungle. We've got a bit of old skool hip hop by Klashnekoff being updated by some Beezwax????! More re-working action, this time from Sinden on Sheffield dancehall king Toddla T. There's something brand new from Lianne Hall and don't tell your Gran but there's SUCH LANGUAGE from DJ Donna Summer. Son Of Dave goes uber commercial or our ass which ticks a box here. Badeshi gives us some D&B with an Asian flavour that even Alberto Frog would be asking for! The Dust Collectors pitch in with some very welcome new material. There's Sukh Knight stepping in some dub…..I hope he gets it off his Loefah before he walks on his carpet. Finally, I NEVER THOUGHT I'D SEE THE DAY, I've got some BASSLINE in the show…..OH MY GOD!!
Pete Jackson: This month, we're gonna party like its 1989, as a whole bunch of vintage acts, like The Fall, The Wedding Present, Mudhoney and Meat Beat Manifesto release brand new material for the modern age. We've also got a round-the-world trip that takes in some great music from Portugal, Turkey, Siberia, Indonesia and Japan, we'll doff our hats to the late Bo Diddley and hear the greatest British Rock 'n' Roll song EVER. Apparently.
Rachael Neiman: July's Rachael Neiman Experience' is back to 2-hours again, and what a fun-packed 2-hours it is! In honour of the Indie Tracks festival, due to take place on July 26th and 27th at the Butterley heritage railway site near Ripley, we play songs by a number of the artists set to appear including Mono Taxi, Je Suis Animal, Still Corners, The Mai 68s, The Kabeedies, Liechtenstein, Shrag, Town Bike, Brontosaurus Chorus, The Bobby McGee's, Strawberry Story, Lardpony, The Deirdres and Helen Love. Continuing the indiepop theme we have some more bands who could be possible future Indie Tracks stars such as Balbec, The Royal Trumpets, Sing Songs, Bear Cat, Help Stamp Out Loneliness and Stickpin rubbing shoulders with beautiful noise from London's Comanechi and wonky pop from The Stark Palace. Elsewhere we have superb French riot grrrl from CobSon and Gorgones and more of the homegrown variety from Amy Pennington, Drag Your Heels and Helen's Evil Twin plus a sneak preview of the forthcoming Ladyfest Manchester fund-raising compilation.
Rocker: This month's three hour show from Rocker features two new sessions - a debut from Bristol's Indie-folk troupe McDowell, and a second from Stoke's finest punk-poppers Horowitz. As part of a preview of this month's Indietracks festival there's tracks from the fantastic new LP from The Wave Pictures, as well as tracks from some of the other bands appearing, including The Manhattan Love Suicides; The Wedding Present; and A Classic Education. There's also new tracks from The Short Stories; Clouds; Able & Baker; Tindersticks; Solomun; Half Man Half Biscuit; Portishead; Ashley Reaks; Betty & the Werewolves; and First Aid 4 Souls. There's a killer new techno/house track from Laurent Garnier; a new single from The School; new dubstep from Ramadanman; new drum & bass from Chase & Status; and a Peel's Big 45 written by the late Bo Diddley - can you guess which one? As well as little known acts, here's this month's little known fact: The only nation whose name begins with an "A", but doesn't end in an "A" is Afghanistan.
Yank Sizzler: Tea cups and poodles, the summer's been superbly mild here in Kansas allowing us to enjoy brand new recordings by Tilly & the Wall, Dr. Dog, Genghis Tron, The Vivian Girls, Ad Astra Per Aspera and Islands amongst others. I've also got live recordings from Kid Koala and Pisstank and great older classics show up throughout from Sister Nancy, Joan Baez, Dale Hawkins and Hank Williams. Lastly a time spanning debate on the beauty of Isobel Campbell vs Francoise Hardy for it is summer and lust is in the air.

Dandelion Radio - June 2008 shows
Another 22 hours of shows this month. Andrew Morrison: Andy has two shows in Dandelion Radio's June schedule. His regular two-hour show includes a specially-recorded session from Whole Sky Monitor, as well as another exclusive live track from Eliza. You'll also hear tracks from Burial, Laura Cantrell, The Helio Sequence and New Order, along with Teresa and Scott's regular monthly guest spots and many other new and unsigned tunes. Andy's other June show is a two-hour special entitled 'Teresa & Andy's Fantasy Festival', in which Andy and his girlfriend pick and introduce their ideal line-up for a 2008 summer festival. There are three days and two stages worth of acts in their "virtual festival", featuring headliners such as Elbow, Depeche Mode, Bloc Party and Neil Young, as well as the finest up-and-coming artists, both signed and unsigned, including Devotchka, Samuraj Cities, Patrick Watson, Lanterns On The Lake and Errors. Pitch a tent near your computer, and join Andy and Teresa for a festival during which you won't get washed away by the elements!
Dubster: In this months Radiodubster, Steve and Brian pack their rucksacks and return to the Scottish borders to give you a flavour of the acts playing at this years Wickerman Festival in July including Miyagi, Actiongroup, Zoey Van Goey and some group called the Fall. We'll also be showcasing a few tracks from the Chamber Music album, a collection of no less than 36 different acts adaptations of James Joyce's love poems. Add to this tracks from Mittens on Strings, Magic Arm and Pleasant Grove, and you have 2 hours of aural heaven. OK boy's packed and ready? No, I think we can leave the smoking jackets and sherry glasses ...
Mark Cunliffe: Jerry Hope was a key member of The Dust Collectors, a band who I think are the best Derby has ever produced. He died in April and this month I pay tribute to him by playing four tracks he was heavily involved in making. I also feature Sleaford Mods as yet unreleased album "1 er then ennit". There is Four Tet remixing Thom Yorke, two cover versions, an unwitting array of dancehall, fabulous garage action from The Federals more from the Zim Kids series, Ruff Sqwad's latest 12", King Soly dubstepping to great effect and some loveliness from The Mummers...
Mark Whitby: In his June show, Mark previews the 2000 Trees festival, taking place in the idyllic setting of the Cotswolds, and featuring Art Brut, These New Puritans and The Anomalies, plus loads of others in what promises to be two days of fun and frolics in the English countryside. Away from the greenery and the sunshine, this three hour spectacular also features tracks from new (and new-ish) albums by the resolutely urban Fall, electronica from Bitstream, Pink Skull and Cinema du Lyon, Germany's Trondheim, Ukraine's Younnat and a preview track from the forthcoming Stereolab album. All of which, along with a bottle of cheap cider and a piece of grass stuck in yer mouth, adds up to a cracking way of spending a summer's day (or night).
Neil Jenkins: For June, Neil ditches the older records and concentrates on the newer stuff to help get through the wonderous backlog, including tracks from new albums by The Fall, Portishead, Half Man Half Biscuit, The Kills and a host of newer, less established bands and artists. This month's feature is The ME Band.
Pete Jackson: This month, Pete Jackson proudly presents The Rebellious Jukebox - a two-hour assault on the ears from the distant, and not so distant, past. As well as high-quality tunes from the 1930s (!) to a couple of years ago, you'll also hear my personal selection of the five best cover versions EVER. So if your idea of heaven is a jukebox that has everything from Lee 'Scratch' Perry to Slowdive, from The 3 Johns to 1000 Homo DJs, you've found it. And you don't even have to put any 50ps in.
Rachael Neiman: June's edition of 'The Rachael Neiman Experience' is only an hour-long due to continuing hectic times at Cherryade Towers! But, what an hour it is! We talk about our recent adventures at Ladyfest London and play Peggy Sue and the Pirates in honour of it. We also have a feature on the forthcoming Strawberry Shortcake festival in Manchester and play some tracks from featured bands including Amida, Le Tetsuo, Puzzle and The Lovely Eggs. We also have top quality riot grrrl from Hooker, cute indiepop in the form of Woog Riots, Cars Can Be Blue, the new singles from My Sad Captains and Los Campesinos! And Keytarded with a beautiful keytar cover which knocks spots off the original, listen and see what you think!
Rocker: Another packed three hour show from Rocker - This month there's an acoustic session recorded for the show by Violet Violet, as well as 5 (count 'em!) featured new LPs, all by artists played by John Peel. There's also new tracks from Calvin Party; The Manhattan Love Suicides; Eelke Kleijn; The Bumblebees; TV Smith; The Hillfields; Ghosts Of Pasha; Zipper; Booka Shade; Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip; The School; The Udagawa Deal; and Lovingly Yours. The Parallelograms take on The Ramones; there's a Peel's Big 45 featuring Sly and Robbie; and there's a track from the debut LP by Minisnap - side project of The Bats from New Zealand. As well as little known acts. Here's this month's little known fact: A regulation golf ball has 336 dimples.
Yank Sizzler: Let us peruse the recent recordings of The Black Angels, Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing, Beach House, Dr. Dog, The Kinetiks, The Dirtbombs & Dark Meat as we comfortably snuggle up against classics from Sister Nancy, Son House, The Loved Ones, The Chob, 16 Horsepower, Godspeed You Black Emperor and many more. We also treat ourselves to some of the finest live renditions Calexico has put to tape. And finally I froth at the mouth as it appears that I will get to not only see Tom Waits in June, but The Vaselines as well. Life is grand and so is this show.

Dandelion Radio - May 2008 shows
Category: Music
More shows than we have ever run in a month - so you will probably want to spread your listening over the 4 weeks or so! So come on over to http://www.dandelionradio.com to start listening.
Andrew Morrison: There are two shows from Andy during Dandelion Radio's looping May schedule. The exclusive sessions continue during Andy's two-hour May show, with specially-recorded tracks from Before You Die... and recent Shifty Disco Records MP3 Singles Club act The War Crimes, as well as a live highlight from Eliza's gig in Oxford back in March. As always, there are two of Teresa's Tasty Tips - backed by a practical demonstration of how well Andy's broken arms have healed - and a Mafia theme to Scott's Funky Five Minutes, along with new tracks from Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly and Elbow. You'll also hear what is possibly the most offensive recording ever played on Dandelion Radio... May's 'Andy's Archives' is one hour of randomly selected tracks from Andy's extensive record collection vault. His girlfriend Teresa helps him pick a handful of tracks both obscure and mainstream, including Deus, PJ Harvey, The Disposable Heroes Of Hiphoprisy, Rialto, U2 and The KLF to name but just a few. Listen in for tunes you might know and love, tracks you may love after hearing for the first time, and songs you may have forgotten that you adored altogether!
Dubster: May is upon us and to celebrate Radiodubster take their musical merriment down to the village green. There, Steve and Brian will dance around the maypole with amongst others De Rosa, Anamanaguchi, Eat Skull, The Ruby Suns and featured artist Why?. There'll be fun for all the family so come and join Steve and Brian for a couple of hours and see which one of them has the biggest marrow.
Mark Cunliffe: The month of May as heard through the ears of the boy Cunliffe throws up a track off the forthcoming album from Sweetie Irie, a bit o' Bong-Ra, more Sleaford Mods, Vieux Farka Toure remixed, Smasher cramming as many old skool garage tunes into one grime track as he can, relentless BASS from Scorn, something to disagree with from Ward 21, more old skoolness with Fokkewolf....oh, and a track from someone who, in his short career so far, has done some production for Grace Jones!
Mark Whitby: Along with a five track session from Skin2Soul, Mark's May show allows feisty relative newcomers such as The Coffee and TV Wreck, Earl Grey & the Legomen and Schuman the Human to rub shoulders with tracks from recent and upcoming albums from Portishead, Ladytron and The Black Keys. There are some essential reissues including a CD release for a 1967 classic from July and another track from the Nigeria Special compilation. Mark begins the countdown of the top ten US states for music and provides a whole load more evidence in favour of 2008's recognition as world year of the banjo, while finding much to savour in the work of the entirely banjo-less Fuck Buttons, Team Robespierre, and loads more.
Neil Jenkins: In my May show I'll be featuring the latest Topplers sampler "See Dee Too 2008", tracks from the Org-An-Ised Singles Series from Org Records, I'll be giving away a copy of Oppenheimer's eponymous CD in one of my 'competitions' and will be spending half an hour playing stuff from the bottom of my 'to play' pile in the form of 'Neil's Record Box Clearout'.
Pete Jackson: May's show sees the continued takeover by the French with new music from Tom Deluxx, Poney Poney and LC, tracks from the new releases by I, Ludicrous and Be Your Own Pet, and a voyage of discovery through compilations from Ninja Tunes and northern punkers TNS. Oh, and some Kylie Minogue. Something for all the family…
Rachael Neiman: In this month's fun-packed 'Rachael Neiman Experience' we are back to 2 hours again and we have some amazing treats in store for you lucky listeners! We have a feature on the forthcoming Ladyfest London featuring bands set to play including Betty and the Werewolves, Kimya Dawson, Drunk Granny, Vile Vile Creatures, The Bobby McGee's, Matt & Kim and The Priscillas. Elsewhere we have riot grrrl fun from Venom Seeds, Cuckoo's Nest, Peepholes, Shrag, DJ Violent Vickie, Captains, Bratmobile, Sailor Tongue and We Should Be Dead. We also have tracks from the new releases on Happy Happy Birthday To Me records including The Lolligags, The Passerines, Patience Please and Eux Autres and releases on Fortuna Pop from Ladybug Transistor and Hayman, Watkins, Trout and Lee. Plus a stunning new track from Thomas Tantrum and lo-fi antifolk from Jam On Bread and an unlikely but stunning collaboration between two Cherryade artists!
Rocker: Another packed three hour show from Rocker - This month's featured album is once again the new LP from Portishead - "Third", and there's a competition to win a limited 7" by Dan Le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip. There's also new tracks from MJ Hibbett; Manhattan Love Suicides; I, Ludicrous; Clinic; The Dub Sync; Tindersticks; Tom Hingley & the Lovers; Zomby; Monica Queen; Flying Saucer Attack; Honeyheads; Action Beat; and The Flower Beds. There's a Peel's Big 45 from 1965, and Dan Le Sac takes on Elastica, while Mr Ronz takes on Radiohead, and there's electronica from Paolo Mojo; Applescal; Torro Remote; and Oliver Klein & Martin Eyerer. As well as little known acts, here's this month's little known fact: The biggest known fish species is the Whale Shark, which can reach a length of 18 metres.
Yank Sizzler: Two hours of blissfully different music from all over the world. Indie, Reggae, Ska, Electronic, Spouge, Country, Folk, Punk, Post Punk and many more styles. I guarantee you won't hear most of it anywhere else. New music by the Dirtbombs, King Khan & BBQ Show, Mammoth Life, Crystal Castles. Classics by Otis Redding, Symarip, Lee Perry, Television, Kid Koala and many more.

Dandelion Radio - April 2008 shows
Andrew Morrison: Andy has two shows playing at different times during Dandelion Radio’s April schedule. The first is his regular show, featuring no less than two exclusive sessions, from Atomizer and Rafter, along with new tracks from Elbow and Crystal Castles, as well as My Device, Samuraj Cities, and many exciting new and unsigned acts. Also listen in for Teresa’s Tasty Tips and Scott’s Funky Five Minutes. Andy’s second show is an Autons Special marking the release and first ever play of their brand new double A-sided single. Dave and Tony from the band co-host the show with Andy, picking some of their all-time favourite tunes, talking about their influences and history, and introducing an exclusively-recorded live Autons track. So, four hours worth of Andy, not to be missed during April! Mark Cunliffe: It’s April and the blossom is creating a picturesque scene, it’s settling on the ground all around Derby.....mixing in with all the McTurks kebab papers, fag ends and squashed beer cans.....lovely..... On this month’s show we have Magnum’s lesser known side kick Mashnum PI investigating a Ragga sound. There’s more potty mouthed ranting from Lincolnshire’s Sleaford Mods. There’s Movado going gully, though I think his best position is silly mid off meself. We have a UK band/artist???? who is shrouded in mystery but goes by the name of The Mofos. There’s some jaw dropping drum & bass from RJ Productions. Flake Brown returns, this time with a Bucketful Of Fools.....it must be a big bucket to fit in ALL the members of Oasis in??? We have dubstep from MRK1, Skream & Cluekid, a remix of Peter Tosh’s ’Legalise It’ and a Latvian master of mood, Oyaarss. There’s Shrag doing a dub re-mix of their best tune n’all. This month’s show also see’s my favourite tune of the year so far get an airing but I’ll keep the identity of that one a mystery. Perhaps you might want to get Mashnum PI on to it? What I’ve given you there is just the tip of the iceberg and not a piddling globally warmed, melted iceberg neither.... So, the only thing you’ve got to do is TUNE IN!! :-) xxx
Mark Whitby: With hotspots like London, Liverpool, Manchester, Glasgow, Leeds and Norwich already placed further down the list, the world scratches its head at what will be revealed as the greatest UK town or city for music. Scratch no longer, for Mark Whitby’s April show reveals the number one and pulls five top class tunes from the festive fifty archives all from the place in question. A three hour musical extravaganza also brings you a top notch exclusive session from Dalmatian Rex and the Eigentones. While Mark puts a sensible rein on his desire to celebrate all things Eurovision, he makes room for the Atari ska of France-based Dubmood, Swedish reggae from Kapten Rod, electronica from Germany’s Extrawelt and Holland’s Ravage! Ravage! remixed by teenage compatriot Keukengerei. You’ll find tracks from the new Breeders, Beach House and Malcolm Middleton albums nestling alongside astonishing debuts from Fuck Buttons, Kittens Ablaze and These United States. And a Swedish Elvis impersonator.
Neil Jenkins: In this month’s 2-hour programme, Neil has an exclusive session from Dandelion Children of Slovenia, features the work of Mark Graham of Warrington, England and hides some little minute-long gems from Munich-based Viola Vagina in snug, warm places. There are also new idents and tracks from Filewile and Birmingham Bertie in addition to a bunch of other varied stuff that deserves to be heard. What will Neil mispronounce this month? Tune in to find out ....
Rachael Neiman: In April’s ’The Rachael Neiman Experience’ we have crammed a whole lot of pop goodness into just one hour including tracks from Penny Broadhurst, Awesome Wells, Trick Babies, Pockets Filled With Matches, Stella Pace, MJ Hibbett and the Validators, Soft Toy Emergency and many more!
Radiodubster: ...Not very long ago, in the top left-hand corner of Fife, there was a garage. It wasn’t a very long garage or a very important garage, but it was called Dubster and Llantisilly Radiophonic Broadcasting Company Limited, and it was all there was. And in a booth, in a siding at the end of the garage, lives Stephen and Brian of the Dubster and Llantisilly Radiophonic Broadcasting Company Limited, which was a long name for a little radio show, so their friends just called it Radiodubster. In the month of April the flowers start to bud around the siding and Steve and Brian’s musical friends Don Juan Dracula, Let’s go to war, Robots In Disguise, The Helio Sequence, Matthew Bayot and Whitey Housten as well as featured artists Ugress, Panda Riot and Jonas Silus pop by the garage to say hello and play a few tunes for them. Hope you can pop in and have a listen. Contains explicit lyrics
Rocker: Another packed three hour show from Rocker - With a couple of featured albums, including Benga’s hotly anticipated "Diary of an Afro Warrior". There’s the debut release from The Parallelograms, a new single from MJ Hibbett & the Validators, and also new tracks from Standard Fare; The Mekons; The Give It Ups; Ten Kens; The Pocketbooks; March Of The Carpenter Ants featuring Kenji Siratori; Dog End Disco; Honeyheads; The Haggerston International School of Suicide School; Pine Tarts; and Emmy The Great. This month’s Peel’s Big 45 is a soul classic presented with extra surface noise for your enjoyment, while Mark Ronson covers Radiohead, Hefner’s Darren Hayman releases a side project, and there’s electronica from Locodice; Julien Parise; Heerhorst & Meissner; and Corrugated Tunnel. As well as little known acts, here’s this month’s little known fact: The first stretch of Motorway in the UK was the Preston Bypass - built in 1958, and now forming junction 29 to 32 of the M6.
Yank Sizzler: Michael Stoecker, better known to his podcast listeners as The Yank Sizzler, joins the ranks of Dandelion Radio. Think of this one hour show as a taster for what is to come in future months.

Dandelion Radio - March 2008 shows
Andrew Morrison: Andy very nearly didn't record a March show, having broken both his arms in a cycling accident during February! Andy's girlfriend Teresa save the day however, cueing tracks and co-presenting a show featuring tracks from Burial, The Twilight Sad, Colone, We Start Fires, Trembling Blue Stars and Adam Tensta, amongst many, many others. Teresa selects three Tasty Tips from Vampire Weekend, Miracle Fortress and Feist, and Scott's Funky Five Minutes provides a melancholic trip back to the end of his and Andy's school days. Also listen out for cracking remixes of tracks by Happy Mondays and Atomizer.
Mark Cunliffe: Now, it's said that "March comes in like a Lion and goes out like a Lamb". Well, MY March has Dogs, possibly poisonous frogs, baggy knickers, a bloke hitting himself on his nuts and talk of blowing up the Queen (sorry marm) In addition there's some Arabic, kinda techno, house stuff...in the SAME SONG! I've got the daughter of Dr Doolittle playing the Rolling Stones...it takes practice but you can get a nice C chord out of Keith Richard's ear hair if you pluck it in the right way... Some call Good Friday, Marble Day, hopefully my shows a bit of an aggie..
Mark Whitby: In his March show, Mark crams a specially extended three hour show into two hours. Impossible? Listen to find out how. The show features brand spanking new seven inches from The Standard Tribesmen and Vertical Montanas, something vaguely definable as Bulgarian dance courtesy of Kottarashky, living-up-to-our-name guitar abuse from the marvellous Psychedelic Horseshit and a couple of storming epics from BL4ND and Collections of Colonies of Bees. Scotland's Meursault reveal - if such a thing were in need of revelation - how to have fun with a banjo and a computer at the same time and, staying in Scotland, there are tracks from the new albums from both of the former members of Arab Strap. And Mark puts a cherry on top of the whole thing by revealing the number two entry in the top UK towns and cities for music.
Neil Jenkins: After a two month break to deal with various non-musical aspects of his world, Neil returns to the virtual airwaves with a 3-hour programme for March 2008. Amongst the (hopefully usual) rich mixture of music and Neil's (certainly usual) pathetic attempts to pronounce anything that's not simple English, you'll find two featured LPs; namely, the multi-label sampler CD "Let's Dream It, Dream It For Free" and the new LP "Krulle Bol" by This Is The Kit. You'll also find an example of an interactive CD by Doktor Coca Cola MacDonalds, have the chance to win a couple of CDs donated by the wonderful Fire Records, and hear some tracks associated with a particular part of a lady's anatomy. And as if all that wasn't exciting enough, Neil comes up with a lame way to play all those no-longer-new records that have rather shamefully ended up at the bottom of his 'to-play' record box, leading to a new monthly feature called 'Neil's Record Box Clearout' where he'll spend half an hour or so playing you some of these records which he believes deserve to be heard.
Pete Jackson: In the March show you'll discover many things, hopefully to your advantage. Find out what happens when Californian rapper Kenan Bell tackles the Bard of Stretford, taste the wonders of Pie Eye Pop and hear at least four minutes of Complete Silence. Plus new stuff from Pete and the Pirates, old stuff from the Voodoo Queens and Stereolab, exciting stuff from the ever-wonderful world of Kitsune, and decide for yourself if Just A Band are, well, just a band. See you there.
Peter Nelson: This month on The Peter Nelson Show: Black Rabbit ( www.myspace.com/theblackrabbitmyspace ) in session. A half hour grime/house mix and new project by renowned breakcore artist DJ Floorclearer. A preview of his upcoming release on Tigerbeat6. Also, a special feature on the first Cratedigger Deathmatch ... an international collage/plunderphonics event held earlier this year. 12 artists created 12 minutes of music with just $12. New releases from Electromeca, Lapsed & Nonnon, Seasick Steve, Jesus Licks, and some filthy Japanese grindcore ++++
Rachael Neiman: March's 'Rachael Neiman Experience' is only an hour long, but we've managed to pack plenty of pop goodness into it including new treats from True Adventures, Caziarillo, Kids Love Lies, The Good Natured, Babyguts and, as if we're not spoiling you enough, a brand new track from the long-awaited forthcoming debut album by one of the greatest bands in the world, Das Wanderlust! Elsewhere we have positively filthy electropop from Jean Genet, hip pop from Supercasio, cheeky pop from Town Bike, a really special classic track from a truly legendary band and much much more!
Rocker: March brings another packed three hour show from Rocker - There's two featured albums - The latest from Calvin Party (their fourth), plus the debut from The Fallen Leaves. There's also new tracks from the likes of Mono Taxi; The Generalissimos; Holy Fuck; Goldfrapp; John & Jehn; Emmy The Great; The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart; Springfactory; Standard Fare; The Manhattan Love Suicides; Que Possum; and Puerto Muerto. Monkeydubz remixes the Velvet Underground, while Burial takes on Thom Yorke, there's electronica from Julian Jeweil; Disorder; Popof; and The Field; there's also a whole slew of sharp new Indiepop from such labels as Cloudberry; Atomic Beat; Ugly Pop; and Series Two. This month's mystery track is from Japan - hopefully someone can translate the title for me! Coincidentally this month's Peel's Big 45 is also Japanese. As well as little known acts, here's this month's little known fact: Spike Milligan, George Orwell and Joanna Lumley were all born in India

Dandelion Radio - February 2008 shows
Andrew Morrison: Andy's February show features loads of new and unsigned tracks, including a brand new 7" from Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly, dark dance from Burial, hip hop by Sweden's Adam Tensta, remixes from Bloc Party and We Start Fires, and classic cover versions from The Fall and Curve that compliment Scott Ruston's choice for his Funky Five Minutes section. Teresa also appears with two more Tasty Tips, and picks the winner of December competition to win free CDs.
Andy's Archives: 'Andy's Archives' is the first of what will be occasional shows having no pre-planned track listing - just Andy Morrison browsing through his record collection and playing whatever takes his fancy. Artists in this edition include Aphex Twin, 70 Gwen Party, Depeche Mode, David Bowie, and a 20-year-old belter by Bomb The Bass. Listen in for a 60-minute trip down Memory Lane via Obscure Avenue.
Mark Cunliffe: The snowdrops and daffodils are sprouting earlier every year......birds are mating in the traditional winter months and not the spring one's.....as well as all that, large men in stand's behind goal's up and down the country are managing to go through the entire football season topless WITHOUT suffering frostbite on their nipples. It's the age of global warming and I'm feeling the heat myself. I've got to follow up last months Best Of 2007 show with some boss tunes to keep the standard up. So, what CFC free mix of tracks can you expect? I'm keeping my carbon imprint down by locally sourcing two records from the fair city of Derby. However, I am getting into a bit of a Rukus trying to avoid a Kidnappa from London. I've got some conscious reggae that SURLY can't fail to move you. There's some hip hop AND grime, including a track that, in my opinion, is one of the BEST grime tracks EVER! Your cup will be overflowing with techno but it's only a paper one. We have a 200 year old man making MOCCASIN'S........LIVE! Will it be better than the wine tasting feature of last month?.......TUNE IN! There's a Mancunian man scatting on the show........Bad a dap de dab a damn....... I cycle to FRANCE to pick up some music from Zimbabwe not once but TWICE......and in only a two hour show! We have Frida from Abba showing you the contents of her handbag. I'm not going to spoil it for you but I'm not sure what a mole was doing in there??!!! There are two CLASSIC dancehall tracks as well......not in Frida's handbag, on my show! PLUS, some other miscellaneous excitement that I can't find the superlatives for! So, switch off your central heating, put three jumpers on, get a Bovril and snuggle up to your computers speakers.......unless, of course, you live in the Southern hemisphere where I recommend you nudge your summer north a bit as it's a bit nippy up here in the UK........
Mark Whitby: In his February show, Mark rummages through a pile of the best music sprouting from the already fertile loins of 2008 and yields a playlist including the Mountain Goats, Gerry Mitchell and Little Sparta, Psychedelic Horseshit and Yip Yip. There's also a not-too-reflective glance over the shoulder at the best new bands of the previous year as featured in his "Listen To Me" top ten, leaving us moist with anticipation with unreleased gems from the likes of BL4ND, 2 Hot 2 Sweat and We Are Spirit, and a debut single from Dalmatian Rex and the Eigentones. On the retrospective side, there's the usual plundering of the festive fifty archives for three tracks from the number three town or city for music in the UK as well as a reissued classic from the Cherry Red label. Mark also features a selection from the Pixie's Palace web group, including a collaboration from the queen herself, Pixieguts, with Dementio13, and tracks from Brazil's DJ Blush, Italy's Sicilian AV Project and Sheffield's Adrian Carter.
Pete Jackson: Hello. My first `real' Dandelion Radio show goes out in February, and to reflect this crazy mixed-up world we live in, it features some great big lumps of French electro, some mariachi music from Detroit, some surf guitar from Leeds, some doomy German rock from Liverpool and some Irish shoe-gazing from Athens, Georgia (via Japan). Throw in some New York rap, some Brazilian shouting, some Canadian keyboard abuse and a bit more French electro and that's a night in right there. I'll be Pete Jackson, and I'll be saying the `f' word a minimum of two times. Be warned.
Peter Nelson: This month on The Peter Nelson Show: Dutch electro pop duo Persil in session. Bowl movements from DJ Herb, The Teknoist, Celeste, Pendulum, Commix....Some moments of intense beauty and tales of lost love, including a 50 voice choir cover of a Joy Division classic. +++Uglyhead, Pinch, Chow Chow, Santa Dog, Boxcutter+++
Rachael Neiman: In February's 'Rachael Neiman Experience' we play the last of the new Christmas songs which didn't quite arrive in time for the big day but which we think sound just as good in February! These come from The Fountain and The Black Arts. Elsewhere we have fabulous riot grrrl from Drag, Almandino QuiteDeLuxe, Operator Please and Two Ton Boa, electropop from Cooties Attack!, Arthur and Martha, The 10p Mixes and Kristofski Kabuki, tweecore from Pocket Books, Sparky's Magic Piano and Penny Century, dark pop from Sophie's Pigeons and Billy Ruffian, a track from the recent Thee Headcoats/Headcoatees re-issued split album, dreamy pop from Strawberry Story, a track from the long-awaited new album by Helen Love plus yet more unashamed pop thrills from Town Bike, The Dinnerladies, The Seven Inches, The Gresham Flyers and Rory Mcvicar. This month we also have two classic tracks, one from the mighty noise explosion that was Lolita Storm and the other an early track from the legendary B52s.
Radiodubster: February is here, and using basic scientific principles Steve and Brian have concluded that it's much warmer to record the show inside the house than in the garage. So why not join us in the broom cupboard this month where we will be in the company of The Pictish Trail, Burial, Playerplease, the Anomolies, Raymond Scott, Alex Delivery, featured artist Effi Briest and many others. Actually its getting a bit crowded in here now, could someone open a window please, that steak pie I had earlier is coming back on me a bit..
Rocker: As usual this month's three-hour show is packed with tracks from new acts - like The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart; Bubblegum Lemonade; Bonnie & Clyde; Springfactory; Nicewoodyhabit; Let's Wrestle; Krister; The Octopus; Sinner DC; Sparky's Magic Piano; and Fancy Of Guava. There's also new tracks from old favourites like Horowitz; Sasha (yes, THAT Sasha); Battles; Emmy The Great; Burial; MJ Hibbett; Puerto Muerto; and Manhattan Love Suicides. There's electronica from Fairmont, while labelmate Nathan Fake covers Arab Strap. Skream is let loose on the new Dave Gahan single, and comes up with the best mix on the promo - even though it looks like remaining unreleased. There's a new mix of a Balearic classic by Fragma, and I finally get round to playing that dubstep record by Benga and Coki that's been tearing up dancefloors (and jacked up Ford Fiestas with underlights and subwoofers) for a few weeks now. There's also a mystery track which I'd like you all to try to identify for me! Thanks to Alan for this month's little known fact: The cake on the cover of the 'Rolling Stones' "Let it Bleed" LP was made by Delia Smith.

Dandelion Radio - January 2008 shows
Andrew Morrison: Join Andy for his "2007 Recap" this month, as he plays his favourite tracks from the last twelve months. Many of these are recordings made especially for Dandelion Radio - such as session tracks from Autons, The Bobby McGees, Forest Giants, Decoration, Epic45 and The Pony Collaboration, and live recordings from Seagull Strange, My Device, Samuraj Cities, Paperlung, Hush The Many, King Of Spain and The Race. Teresa picks her favourite two tracks of 2007 as her Tasty Tips, and Scott selects what is possibly the most inappropriate track ever played on Dandelion Radio as his Funky Five Minutes for the month. Listen in to find out how he justifies his choice!
Electronicshire: A new and occasional 1 hour show of electronic noise, beats and ambiance by Steve from Radiodubster. On this show, he'll introduce you to the bizarre world of Cassette Boy; unleash the nightmarish soundscapes by Tristram Cary; but will also try to sooth your ears with the 3 Theremin noise combo that is The Lothars. Others will be lurking too, so why not tune in for an hour and all will be revealed...
Mark Cunliffe: Well, all the festivities are over. You didn't need a white Christmas because the jumper your Auntie Ethel gave you caused the equivalent of snow blindness...a traditional Christmas.. So what has January 2008 got in store for you here..well..2007 actually.. We're having a look back at the tunes that, for me, really made the year musically great. Expect ... a refix of a Bob Marley number (it broke down on Clapham Junction*), frenetic drum & bass not once but TWICE, gentle folk to sooth your now bleeding ears, a VERY CONTROVERSIAL selection by an artist that has sold over 20 MILLION records in their career. A hardening of style for the artist concerned and a top five tune for me. It might lead my fellow Dandelion DJ's to put me in the stocks and throw Rene & Renata CD's my way! :-) we have an older adult STEALING CHICKENS on the show ... it wouldn't have happened in my day y'know we get VERY grimey, I'm talking a toddler at a chocolate fountain ... yes, THAT GRIMEY!, there's some dubstep (no...REALLY!), incredible desert blues GRINDCORE!!!!, techno with a twist a nice bitta indie, thought provoking reggae some Latin vibes from Central America Bhangra ... YES!!!!! and some sampling sensations..(no, I'm not interviewing a group of wine tasters) 36 of the best (I'm not talking about my punishment for playing THAT controversial track!) but 36 of the best tunes of 2007 as chosen by the boy Cunliffe
*distributor cap problem
Pete Jackson: This is Pete's first show. He'll be spinning some tunes from the past and the future… expect noise, beats, fear, hypocrisy, culture, Mark E Smith and some honky-tonk piano.
Rachael Neiman Experience: In January's 'Rachael Neiman Experience' we kick off what will hopefully be a fabulous year of shows in fine style as we're joined in the studio at Cherryade Towers by the lovely Ste Mccabe to talk about his forthcoming debut ep to be released on Cherryade in February and to choose some brilliant records by fab feminist and queer positive artists including Jean Genet, Super Casio, Hug Party, Salty Lips, Minty and Partyline. We also play some bands who we believe are going to be unstoppable in 2008 such as The Lovely Eggs and Hotpants Romance and some fab new records from the likes of The Brownies, Club 8 and many more, plus Ste and Rachael pick a golden oldie from the legendary Shampoo to end the show (Adam denies all responsibility for this choice!)
Rocker: Starting the year with a bang! This month's three-hour show is as usual packed with new tracks from the likes of Skylark; Easy Star Allstars; The Cubical; Soda Fountain Rag; Skream; The Manhattan Love Suicides; Burial; Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip; Vancougar; Small Crew; Paul Hawkins & Thee Awkward Silences; Cranium Pie; and Afternoon Naps. There's a classic track from Ike Turner, who sadly died last month, plus the 1960s meets the 1790s when Gerard Langley of The Blue Aeroplanes reads William Blake over David Axelrod, from the latest CD in the "Lit" series. There's also the second half of The Wedding Present set recorded live last October on their George Best 20th anniversary tour. In addition to little known acts, here is this month's little known fact: The fear of the number 666 is known as hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia.
PLUS - the 5 hours of the Festive Fifty show is running all month at various times throughout the schedule - so nip over to http://www.dandelionradio.com to find out when it is on.

Dandelion Radio - Deceber 2007 shows
A festive mood all round - including from our latest DJ recruit, Mark Cunliffe. From Christmas Day onwards we will be playing the show that is the result of listener votes over the last few weeks ... The Festive Fifty. Between 1st Decmber and 24th we wll be assembling the tracks and making a long show - 4 to 5 hours long and then weaving into our schedule for the rest of the month and then continuing it in to January so that you all get a chance to listen.
The regular shows for this month are:
Andrew Morrison: Andy offers you a rich and varied selection of musical gifts in his final show for 2007. The Pony Collaboration are this month's session guests, with four exclusive recordings - including two brand new songs. There's a classic Scott's Funky Five Minutes, along with new singles from Trembling Blue Stars, Bloc Party and Rory McVicar. Andy and Teresa also get you in the mood for 2007 Festive Fifty results, by picking choice selections from John Peel's Festive Fifty charts over the last the last four decades. And yes, there's a couple of obligatory Christmas-related tracks, to keep the traditionalists happy. But good ones however.
Dubster: It's now officially winter time, well it is in Steve and Brian's sub zero icebox that is The Garage. Huddling round the brazier with us this month we have: Hafdis Huld, The Glass, Panda Bear, Marsen Jules and The Mofos. While over in the corner Yeasayer and Vampire Weekend are busy preserving the fish. So get your crampons ready and come on down to the end of the year Radiodubster Winter Wonderland. Snowcones are on us
Mark Cunliffe: I'm the new boy here. Of course, being the new boy I keep getting all the bum jobs like being sent to the Tuck Shop to get everyone Highland Toffee Bars but I'm coping.. Right. The music Santa will almost certainly have on his iTouch this Christmas... Some Raggacore from I:Gor Techno from no lesser person than the big cheese at Kompakt (and his mate) A Scottish lady playing the Thumb Piano..and singing too (can you pat your head, rub your stomach, eat Christmas pudding AND work out WHAT ON EARTH your cracker gift is..AT THE SAME TIME..she can...) A thirty year old bhangra tune set to hip hop beats We're heading down the BASS route, not once, not twice but THREE times (that translates as two dubstep tunes and The Bug by the way) We have 17 Hippies doing a bit of German folk...I'm serious... A couple of old skool tunes from Senegal and DR Congo The best sampling Heanor has to offer in the MIGHTY Fuzzyhead There's indie, reggae, grime, grindcore and a wee bit more too And you thought Santa just listened to Slade..
Mark Whitby: Mark Whitby and Al Brown throw a Christmas party, but nobody turns up. The result is a brown ale and mince pie-fuelled romp through Mark's favourite albums of 2007 and some selections from last year's obscure "truly festive festive fifty" as well as some other seasonal gems. Amongst what remains of the merriment, Mark finds time to reveal the number four entry in the top UK towns and cities for music, and attempts to explain how "A Very Cherry Christmas 2" knocks the Phil Spector album into a cocked hat. Among those providing the soundtrack are Uke Stanza, Chris T-T, Flaming Lips and 65 Days of Static. Top non-seasonal tunes are thrown in from the likes of Battles, Bowerbirds, Malcolm Middleton and Mother and the Addicts.
Neil Jenkins: This month, Neil resists the temptation to play Christmas tunes to continue concentrating on reducing his to-play pile as he's convinced there's a spare electricity socket behind it. During this 3-hour programme, as well as new (and nearly new) material, he features the work of Listen With Sarah and some of the fine output from Pickled Egg Records, plus some tracks from one of his favourite Christmas LPs. OK, so he'll play some Christmas tunes after all. The man is only human.
Rachael Neiman Experience: With the distant sound of sleighbells in the air, and the scent of mulled wine and roasting chestnuts (probably, but I'm not sure what they smell like) on the breeze, Rachael and Adam are determined to spread a little seasonal cheer because (despite what Adam might say) they both really love Christmas and certainly not in an ironic way, so, listen with caution, Christmas humbugs! In December's Xmastastic 3 hour-long 'Rachael Neiman Christmas Experience', we celebrate our favourite time of the year with a selection of festive themed tracks that should prove once and for all that Christmas has inspired more brilliant songs than almost any other subject! We've got enough Christmas songs to fill a whole year's worth of shows (...mmm... There's an idea ...). Seasonal treats come from the likes of Candy Panic Attack, The Aislers Set, Zombina and the Skeletones, The Bobby McGee's, Cuckooland, Pullover, The Loves, The Deirdres, Helen Love, Bucky, The Lovely Eggs, Betty Serveat, MJ Hibbett and the Validators, Jeffrey Lewis, Billy Ruffian, Motormark, A Smile and A Ribbon, Yule and the Advent Bomb, The Pocket Gods, Das Wanderlust, Cassetteboy, Hello How Are You, The Blue Minkies, The Madrigals and many more, plus, not a Cliff Richard or Slade song in sight! Merry Christmas indeed!
Rocker: Ending the year with a bang! This month's three-hour show has - count 'em - two featured new albums - The Undertones make a stunning return to mid-season form, and there's ukulele madness from MJ Hibbett (sans Validators), plus a competition to win a limited edition CD copy of his album. There's also 40 minutes of The Wedding Present recorded live in October on their George Best 20th anniversary tour. There's also new tracks from the likes of Emmy The Great; The Voluntary Butler Scheme; Manhattan Love Suicides; Muffler; The Nightingales; The Voices; The Loves; Avus; Trouserdog; Built For Ghosts; Sethro's Pole; Deadmau5; Butcher Boy; & Shlomi Aber. As a concession to the festive season there's two Christmas records - but don't worry, you may have trouble recognising them as such. In addition to little known acts, here is this month's little known fact: "Dreamt" is the only English word that ends in the letters "mt".
