head way with the Hatchery art center
Current mood: adventurous
Category: Art and Photography
some of you had seen those pictures we up loaded of that old building and said "What the crap it that" well that is the future home of the Rainbow Hatchery Art Center and Gallery, which the PVP has volunteered to assist in the production and proliferation.
the Hatchery will have a sculpture studio for those who wish to work in all things dealing with the third dimension, IE ceramics, wood, stone, plaster, and hopefully one day bronze. we will have another section dedicated for all the proponents of the second dimensional disaplins, painting, illustration, and some coloring-books:)
there will also be a court yard in the at the rear which will serve wonderfully to host our summer Jams, and an auditorium in side to accommodate us and other public events in the winter.
we have ran into some hiccups along the way, in-regards to finding a concrete man, which we have a meeting with one of the finest in the area on Friday to hopefully resolve our largest obstacle.
and we are trying to work out a deal with the city and some electricians in order to keep the costs down.
if all goes well we will be open by May 5th for Brick-Fest,
if you would like to help in any way we could use it, we don't need your money, we need your labor, and ideas, we will also need teachers for the students coming in, and we will need artist for the Co-op in order to fill the gallery space

the november jam
Current mood: creative
Category: Writing and Poetry
The Poetry Jam of Nov 27th threw the society for a loop, we showed up to drink, recite, and debate or agree on the strange topics covered at the one before, only to discover that the lights where out and the winery closed, but in the tenaciously adaptive spirit of the society we were able to overcome the minor inconvenience, and reassemble at Chris' abode. The gathering had some familiar faces, some returnees, and some new blood.
Donna who was with us before, then left, then returned again was like sand in ones eye, as in her work was gritty, and unrelenting, she could give the masters of disturbance the shivers, Poe, Palahniuk, King, she is a true mistress of the dark.
Liz our patron, she is silent, she is watchful, with out her we would not be what we are, for a bunch of artist without patrons are just a gathering of egotistical selfish persons pushing there own work, and rarely consuming, it would be a world of carnivores that hold the means to their own ends. Thank God for the truly wise ones who sit silently by , and enjoy the noise we produce.
The new comers: Aaron, and Amy, the ministers of folk, a guitar and harmonica are the tools of their art. Harmonica, what an unusual word, with obvious roots in harmony, the quintessence of their craft. Gently, teasingly, filling us with ideas and feelings that we all ponder. Ideals that we may not openly discuses, but ideas that are imperative to us non the less. What is it to love? What is it to even hate? Or all that is in-between? Is there a difference? After an encounter with this fiercely soft duo I think not. Just maybe, it is all one in the same.

A run down of the October poetry jamboree
Current mood: creative
Category: Writing and Poetry
We were once again blessed with an extraordinary evening, the core members were there as always to share their new work and ideas for projects, it is always interesting to see art evolve as time progresses, and in this way you can see it change in multiple people at the same time.
The lady of the evening of course was the highly esteemed Lauren Zuniga. Who was our special guest and was kind enough to come all the way down form the big city and share a new stile that most of us had not encountered yet. Her voice and the rhythm in which it carried possessed the quality of a snare drum that could make the masses march to a courageous victory or honorable demise, a machine gun of rhyme she was, and when it was over you were not quite sure what had taken place, but you knew you wanted more. Each line, no, every word was a thing of beauty, each pause contained the quintessence of critical thinking, she is like a storm, it is magnificent, a little scary, and enthralling at the same time.
We were also blessed with the presence of JW Carnes, and his fiancée Charlie, they shared the wonderfully romantic story of there first meeting and engagement, and JW shared is wonderfully raw and emotional work dealing with fraternal love and the loss of such, ideas that are explored deeply and sometimes painfully but we are the better after doing so.
We then a loaded up and went to an after/Halloween party, with Shelia Spencer and Krista as our generous hostesses, where we continued on with conversations that delved into art, theology, politics, and the esoteric.
With the autumn chill about, veins warmed with wine, and surrounded with good company it was indeed a perfect evening.

a run down of September’s gathering
Current mood: creative
Category: Writing and Poetry
The gathering of September 28th continued to follow the same tendencies as its predecessors, as in it was better than the one before it. Each session has more to offer in regards to varied styles of poetry, and presentation brought forth from the different poets, each contribution is given by talents with a unique style. The following would be the categories that they would fall into if such a thing was possible. The Beats Dean brings an unrestricted yet purposeful style that is an amalgamation of improve, humor, jazz, and prose that can only be accomplished by a true master of their art. Mr. Nelson possesses a fast and poignant style that bombards the mind with images and critical ideas so fast that one can hardly keep up, and left with the feeling that they have encountered nothing less than a force of nature. The Grandis Opus Glaivin's words are eloquent and enthralling, each work is like ones first love, were the object or person receiving that love is regarded as the most beautiful and intelligent thing in existence for that time. It is also like a first love in regards to that when it is over the listener if left with a feeling of longing for more. The Callers to Arms Such revilance, such stirring, this is the work of Brian, and Cole, it represents a more rigid authoritative form of poetry. Their words hold a beautiful residence of battle hymns of long ago, words with power that stir the soul to rise up, take the sword, and fight for what is right. Our Patrons A true patron of the arts, with out the support of Chris our humble organization would not be near what it is. He is the unseen supplier of our PA system, and the social lubricant that eases the breaks between the performers, he is always there with quick wit, or a constructive observation , and if the breaks run too long he is more than happy to recite the work of past masters, which is an art form all its own. Administers of the Macabre Finally the Administers of the Macabre are defined by the works by the works Donna, John, and Tiffany's, Each one with there wonderful individual style. That is dark and gritty, and it presents the real face of our world to us. Thoughts and ideas that we as an American culture trying to keep up with the Jone's and Cleaver's rarely want to admit, but it is hidden in ever one of our closets. No poet can truly have their talent put into a category for each one of these artists transcends into other branches or subjects, covering topics as varied as love, politics, religion, patriotism, ethics, and etcetera. The night was ended with warm farewells, and the proposition of a new date for the next event which might be Oct 26 we have also discussed having our event 2 nights a month instead of one. Details in regards to this matter will becoming out soon.
