Rocking Karaoke Night!
Current mood: rockin
Category: Parties and Nightlife
I went to Annie's Social Club tonight and it was AWESOME. It was such a cool crowd. It happens a lot like that on a Friday night. The thing about Fridays is there is a band on the main stage and karaoke in the little room in the back, so people who are there for the show come in and sing between sets, including the artists themselves. I always get to sing at least five songs to boot. It is a rocking night!

Paul needs to move
Current mood: optimistic
Category: Life
Hi everybody,
Well, I have to move. I have loved living in the back of a used clothing store, but I always knew it was a temporary situation. I have submitted a business plan to the owner that involves me throwing parties as a marketing campaign for his stores, so the parties may continue...maybe.
I am suppose to be out of Clothes Contact by the beginning of the year. I have been very lucky with my living situations so far, but where to next? Well, I don't know. I would like to stay in the Mission. I definitely want to stay in San Francisco. I would love someplace odd and interesting like my current situation, a cool warehouse or a Castle, but know that is unlikely. I also wouldn't mind a house with regular house mates, a shower and a kitchen. Any suggestions?
I am working in Palo Alto. I take the train every day, so I am usually gone from about 9am to 9pm M-F. Living in the store was great, not only because I had the best living room in the city, but because Max would hang out in the store every day and is a very happy dog. Therein lies my biggest dilemma; what about Max? I need a place were Max, one of the happiest, sweetest, cleanest and quietest dogs I have ever met, can be comfortable. He is seven and now is content to lay around most of the day. He can easily keep from going potty for 12 hours, but I would not want to make him do that every day. So a place with a backyard or roommates that don't mind letting him out on occasion would be ideal, but a dog walker is also an option. The bottom line is I need a place where Max is welcome and comfortable.
Please let me know if you hear of something!
Best wishes to all of you,
~Paul 415-651-4079

Jeanne d’Arc burned Oct. 31, 2004
The Burning of Jeanne d'Arc at The Haunted Barn Friar Paul
The theme of the Haunted Barn this year was the French Revolution. The Burning of Jeanne d'Arc was my contribution. I chose this topic for it's parallels to today's political climate. The Burning of Jeanne d'Arc was an example of how the church is used to "execute" the government's dirty deeds. Here is a description of the piece: As a group entered The Burning of Jeanne d'Arc I would say, "Come witness the burning of Joan of Arc". I was wearing a Friar's monk costume and wig and would restrain Jeanne d'Arc as they entered. Jeanne d'Arc was holding a broken Jesus cross that she prayed to. As they entered, the people could see the burn platform and stake. There was an epistle nailed to the top of the stake written in gothic lettering by the hand of Satan of the gospel church that was going on out back.
 the epistle
After they all entered the room I would say "Joan of Arc, for the crimesof heresy, sorcery and the unspeakable crime of cross dressing you shall beburned at the stake! Will you repent?" Jeanne d'Arc then cried "never!" I responded by saying "then you shall burn!"
leading Jeanne d'Arc to the stake
I would then lead Jeanne up the burn platform and take her broken cross from her. I would say "executioner, burn the witch!" and the executioner would enter the room, get the crowd to yell "burn the witch" and begin to torture Jeanne d'Arc with his torch (a fake flame from Walgreens that consisted of a small fan with some material flappering in the wind and someorange light.)
 the executioner
The executioner would then hold the torch to the burn pile beneath, activating the fans and the flames. There was a blower, a giant fanand a bunch of red lights that would slowly start to light up and lift thetranslucent material of the flames. It was an awesomeeffect.
the flames rose
As the flames rose I would raise the cross above my head to the eye level of Jeanne d'Arc. As she burned I would say, "May your demons be exorcized, may your soul be saved". Jeanne d'Arc would yell "Jesus" and die.
hold the cross at eye leave
Upon her death I would turn to the crowd and say, "We have burned the witch, her soul has been saved! May you go in peace in the name of our savior, the Lord Jesus Christ." While reciting those lines, I gave the crowd a salutefollowed by the blessing symbol, tying church and state together as they leftthe room.
 and she burned
It is a sad fact that Jeanne d'Arc was condemned to burn by the church for purely political reasons. Some things never change!

My dog Maxi-Max
Maxi-Max
Maxi-Max, full name Max-e-millennium or Max for short was born just before the millennium eve in New Orleans. He started life as a gutter punk, surviving off of the chicken bones and whatever other scraps he could find. Maxi-Max was rescued and nursed back to health by Lizzie. At that time Lizzie had another dog Sheba and a Scottish Husband named Stewart. When Lizzie and Stewart separated Max and Sheba were separated. Max was about one year old at the time. Stewart turned out to be a bad dad so Lizzie rescued him and Max became an orphan. After a few months of coach surfing Max found me and it was love at first site. Max and I have been together for about two years now.
Max and Lizzie
Max-e-millennium is super sweet, caring and just wants to be a good boy. His favorite activities are chasing a ball, swimming in the ocean (although a poolwill do), sun bathing, sleeping under the covers or just sitting in the car. He will sit in front of a store or restaurant for hours waiting for me. He hates baths though.
master swimmer
Max also likes bars. He especially loves the beer drain. He is an excellent flirt. He does not like it when it gets busy, though--he is dark and people step on him. And he absolutely hates karaoke. Karaoke has been abone of contingent between us. I sing in the car and he climbs onto the floor in the back. I use to take him to my Bad Karaoke night when I was bartender at the Odeon Bar.This is probably where his poor opinion of karaoke began. At first this was fun for him, but after a few weeks he decided that he did not like my singing--I think my version of Dream On was too much for him. Then he started running out of the bar and back to our house as soon as the karaoke began. We would all be having fun hanging out, Max would be flirting with a cute woman for me and then I would start the karaoke and Max would bolt out the door the first chance he got.
good boy, eat those spiders
Max is very sensitive and sometimes I do something that he doesn't understand. Maybe I stayed out too long or maybe I yelled at him in apanic for going into the street when a car was coming—he is usually very good about streets, but his gutter punk instincts sometimes makes him go into the street for a chicken bone or something. Then his feelings get hurt. When his feelings are hurt he won't look at me. He will keep it up for hours and when it is time to go to be he sleeps down stairs on the coach. He usually gets over it around 3 or 4 in the morning, probably because he is getting cold and crawls into bed. I guess he would rather suck up and forgive me than be cold.
Max now lives with three cats that he gets along with very well and he is great with kids.
