As I sit in a doctors office
Current mood: crunk

Layla is having a tooth pulled right now. Poor thing. Screw that, poor me. I have to sit in this waiting room for the next two hours. The woman next to me was just singing along with a Daughtry song that was blasting over the ceiling speakers. Right now the song "Hungry Eyes" is touching my ears in ways I never wanted. Poor me. It's also cold in here. Hard nipple cold. I don't like that. At least not on me. Oh well.

Played my first "Living Room" concert this past weekend. It was really cool. I played a ton of songs that I hadn't played in some time. I think the thing I liked best was performing without a mic or PA. Something always gets lost when electronics get involved. Brigid kaelin joined me on piano. They say never to perform next to a kid or animal. Well, add Brigid to that list. Her songs are so much fun next to my reflections of love, loss and yerning. Maybe I need to write a fun song. How 'bout a childrens song. I've been thinking about one called "Don't Pee in the Pool". I'm serious. I think its my million dollar idea.....Anyway, I'm looking to do more LR concerts. The best part of this past one was the hostess singing along to "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" as Brigid played her saw ( yes, the saw). It was haunting. Contact me if you want your very own LRC.

Ouch, my Louisville Cardinals scored a whole 2 points against the UofKitties. The worst part is I didn't even care too much.

Come out next weekend to the Highland Fest here in Louisville. I play at 6pm on Saturday the 13th. This will be a full band show. Adam's Fro is looking Fro-tacular and he'll be rocking the bass. Oh my gosh! "Eye of the Tiger" is playing right now. Poor me.

Ready to rock

I'm pretty good at a camp fire. I'm not afraid of an acoustic guitar and some bug spray. But there comes a time when a man needs to rock. That time for me is now. Ryan, Adam (not Ryan Adams ) and I rehearsed for the other day for our upcoming full band shows. God, it felt so good to hear my amp just raging. There is something so primal about people playing loud music together.

I'm getting pretty jazzed about the upcoming UK tour. Things are starting to fall into place. I've started to work out again so I can lose the weight that I'll put on by eating a steady diet of fried fish, potatoes, and Guiness beer in England. If it just ends up being a wash I'll be fine with that.

I'm still in the midst of a bad case of writers block. I feel like it's starting to wane though. I'm starting, once again, to see life and situations as songs. It's strange I know, but that's how its always worked for me.

stuffy stuff
Current mood: amorous

Big news on the Searcy front. I'll be playing in the UK in Oct. I'm pretty fired up about this as you might guess. Brigid Kaelin and I will be touring together. She'll back me on my stuff and I'll do the same for her.

On a shitty note. I'm in the midst of the biggest writers block I've ever had. I know the songs are in there. It's like oil. I've drilled out the easiest to get to. Now I'm not sure if I can, or should, try to drill where I haven't before. This would all be so much easier if I sang about cars, beer and getting laid. Now wait... that's a thought.

I'm very intrigued about House concerts. I like the idea of playing music for a intimate group in a quiet setting. Let me know if anyone would like info on booking.

Batman was good. Why does every blockbuster have to be two and a half hours long?
Shark Week is almost here.
Doing my open water dives this weekend and then I'll be licensed.
I won my first tennis tournament. They gave me a plate which I thought was pretty
funny.

Back from tour dates
Current mood: ready to rock

I just got back from playing dates with 7M3 in Chicago, Detroit and Toledo. My good friend and musical companion Brigid Kaelin came along for the ride. I wish everyone could listen to the conversations that we have. We laugh a lot. We talk about serious stuff, music, really dumb stuff, trivia and you name it. She makes driving in a van easier. She's also a great musician.
It was great meeting all the 7M3 fans. They seem dedicated to supporting good music. 7M3 sounded great as always. To the Band and their fans I say thanks.
Derby has come and gone. Fun. To my surprise I found out I was a celebrity. I played a cool event called the Mint Jubilee. It's a cancer fund raiser. They had ton's of "real" celeb's like the great Fred Willard, Bachelor Bob and football great Warren Moon. To my surprise when I showed up they had me walk a special red carpet so photographers could grab pictures. Pretty funny. It helped that I had my wife Layla and friends Kristi and Brigid on my arm.
"I Believe" is climbing up the charts. I was the 1 most added song at the AC format 2 weeks ago. A tiny band called Coldplay was behind me. Things could be worse.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year-ding dong, ding dong
Current mood: froggy

March Maddness, Green Beer, Taxes, Random Blizzards. People, lets focus on the good things. Friday night I will be playing at the Hard Rock Cafe in downtown Louisville with the very talented Emerson Hart. We are seeded 17th and will be taking on the Louisville/Bosie St. game. Fear not fans of the hardwood. You can do Both! The forward thinking folks at 4th Street Live have plenty of TV’s for you viewing pleasure. Look on the wall. What’s that? A TV. Go to the bathroom. What’s that sitting next to the bathroom guy? If you said breath mints and a cologne comparable to Drakkar for men you wouldn’t be wrong. Look closer. It’s a TV! You SEE, YOU SEE WHAT I’M GETTING AT! The game will be on. So I’ll see you there, right?

Go Cards
New Nada Surf CD is solid
Pete Sampras can still get it done
Diary of the Dead, sad to say, stunk like a week old zombie

For those hearing me for the first time
Current mood: quixotic

Welcome, and I hope you like what you hear. A bit about me. I've been a song writer for quite some time now. I live in the great city of Louisville, KY. I am married to my beautiful wife, Layla, and all of our children have four legs. I love to read, watch bad TV, eat bad food, drink bad liquids, play tennis, hang with friends and write music that reflects all of the above (well, maybe not the tennis). I am a very grateful, and lucky, person to have all that I have.

I hope that my songs can bring your backyard party to life, make a drive less boring, make cleaning the house less of a chore, make a breakup easier, help you to forgive, help you to say "I love you". All of that and more. I realize that's a pretty tall order. But, I have faith in songs. Other artists have done it for me. Now, I only hope that I can do the same.

So, thanks for taking a chance.

The down low
Current mood: crunk

Hey to all. Winter is in full force here in the 'Ville. At the same time I have the feeling like spring is right around the corner. It's my favorite time of year complete with March madness, day lilies, and warmer temps.

Things are truly coming together for the CD. As I'm sure many of you know that "I Believe" has been getting a lot of attention of late. It's been used in Promo's for NBC's show "Lip Stick Jungle" and is soon to be included in the debut episode of "Oprah's Big Give" on ABC. In addition we are going to begin pushing it to Radio. Lot's of great folks at Toucan Cove/LabelX, and Jonathan Palmer, have worked hard to make all of this happen.

I'll answer this question, because I know it will be asked. No I haven't met Oprah, or Brook Shields for that matter.

I'll tell you something great. I feel like writing again. I went through a major dry spell. It seems like It's over. I even went up to Michigan and worked with Tim Patalan. If you are a fan of my first solo album Tim produced it.

Layla and I have a new dog named Maxie Mae. She's a mutt of some sort. I'm sure she has Chinese Crested in her, but beyond that I have no idea. You can see pictures of her if you go to Posies(my dog) page and click pictures.

Speaking of The Posies. I'm going to be on a Posies tribute CD. I did a version of their song "Please Return It". I'm fired up to be a part of this album.

My Louisville Cardinals are rolling
Cloverfield is one shaky movie
Colds suck
The New Love Jones CD is gona be tight (nothing like using out of date slang to come across as hip)
New George Romero movie seems promising
Brigid Kaelin has finished her new CD and it's the Bomb(see above)
Playing guitar is for sucka's, Bass is where it's at baby!
I just finished a new video. Should be up soon.

7 Mary 3 dates
Current mood: quixotic

Just finished playing some dates with 7M3. What a frick'en gas. Back story goes like this. I was on the same label with them when their first big album hit. I've done a number of dates with them over the years. I'm glad to say they are the same, cool, down to earth guys. If your reading this and thinking that you've heard " Cumbersome " one too many times to give them a try, then your wrong. They're more then one song. Judging by the live show their new CD is going to be strong.

A special thanks goes out to the 7M3 fans who opened the ears and hearts to me and my band. Big shout out to Troy from the band Small Town Sleeper. He was kind enough to help a brother load the van after a long night.

I've got a deep, dark secret. I have developed a Judge Judy habit. She's cool, smart and frank.....I think I'm in love or I'm becoming a stay at home dad who doesn't have a kid.

Fido is a fun, cool zombie movie you should look into.
My yatzee skillz are mad
I'm going to start writing songs again soon
I miss my Dad at this time of year
I need the Dog Whisperer, Posie has turned into a little demon
Please, please bring back the smoking ban here in Louisville
