Seagull Pewter is Safe For Everyday Use - Lead Content in Pewter

Hello!
I would like to know if pewter picture frames contain lead, i would be afraid my kids would touch them and put their hands in their mouth, please let me know, as i am considering buying these frames.

Michael,

Seagull Frames contain a small amount of lead and are not ’child safe’ with respect to ’placing pewter items in the mouth’. Normal handling and touching is safe.

Here is the official word from Seagull Pewter:

Pewter is one of the most valuable precious metals in common use today. Fine pewter is an alloy of tin. It can be highly polished or buffed to a satin finish. Pewter, like other precious metals, has set standards that specify that pewter must contain at least 92% tin. Our products exceed the standard of 92% pure tin. Like gold and platinum, pewter does not tarnish. As pewter ages it takes on a soft, even patina which is very pleasing to the eye. Modern pewter is safe and meant for everyday use.
All Seagull serve-ware and baby items are 100% lead free and are food safe.

Using Candles in Seagull Pewter PotPourri

I gave a friend a potpourri glass bowl with Seagull Pewter floral cutout lid. She wants to use it for a candle. Do you know if the heat from the flame will hurt the pewter lid? Thanks.

It will definitely tarnish and score the pewter. Plus the glass is likely not made to handle the heat from the candle.

I DO NOT recommend using it for a candle.

I checked directly with Seagull Pewter. The Christmas napkin holders were made more than 10 years ago and haven't been produced since 1998.

You might have some luck looking at the used market at Usedtoronto.com or craigslist.com.

Seagull Pewter Changes Name

"Seagull Pewter Inc" is no longer the name for this world renown pewter craft manufacturer from Pugwash Nova Scotia.

It is now called  The Seagull Company Inc.

Hmmm. No reference to pewter. Could this mean that Seagull will expand its products to include more non-pewter products?

We'll keep a close watch on this and The Seagull Company Inc.

I actually called the Seagull Pewter Store In Pugwash Nova Scotia. And they might have that clock mechanism in stock! WOW!

You can call 666-955-5551 (Consumer Customer Service) to ask them directly. The lady thought is was around $13.00 Have a great day.

Seagull Frame - Replace Felt Backing

hinge on the felt backing recently broke.
