Current mood: BUSHITLER
Category: BUSHITLER Religion and Philosophy
i go to chick-fil-a today. They say that they are running dangerously low on chicken supply for their demand. i end up having to pay more than double the price for my meal than it cost about 5 years ago.
i also noticed that chick-fil-a is making more money than they ever have. They are making 10% more than they were making this time 2 years ago.
In fact, about 5 years ago, chick-fil-a took over & occupied one of the largest chicken farms on the planet with a promise that their occupation of this farm would ensure the actual lowering of chicken prices; not to mention the abundant supply of chicken.
Of course this profit margin lends itself to no chance of corruption since the national average income has consistently risen 5% per year top to bottom among all earning classes thanks to intelligently progressive economic applications.
i am volunteering to apply those "enhanced interrogation techniques" to find out some answers concerning our current administration's scandals. i would only be comfortable using these techniques on the spouses, parents, and children family members of the administration though.
Where did the billions of dollars in cash go that were flown over to Iraq on pallettes?
Why did our adminstration lie and claim to know exactly where those weapons of mass destruction were; in Tikrit?
Why was there a private jet picking up members of Osama Bin Laden's family for a couple of days during the no fly time after september 11th 2001?
Why did our president maintain a business relationship with the Bin Laden family in the 1980s?
Why does a former press secretary for this administration (now) show far more integrity than a single past or present member of the administration?
Why is it that a former press secretary for this administration alligns more closely with the phrase "what would jesus do?" than any other past or present member of our administration?
Why was there a fraction of funds made available to investigate the tragedy of the September 11th terrorist attacks while millions more were allocated at the first chance to investigate Bill Clinton getting a blow job?
Why did the current pope get a pardon from our president so that he would not have to answer to any alligations of sexual abuse in the catholic church, even though it was his job description to stop such abuses in the catholic church?
What religion follows a god that wants our president to kill so many people ... even when he was governor?
Why did our vice-president think it was necessary to cover up shooting someone in the face (happens all the time) while hunting quiail in a fenced in hunting area?
Why does our president think that there is any real similarity in WW2 and the occupation of Iraq?
Why does our president claim some kind of religious basis for his philosophies while he acts as if he is only motivated to ensure his eternity in hell? [& probably anyone else who knowingly facillitates sexual abuse of children ... especially in the name of god]
... and ... Take your time and describe the exact apllications that show our current administration truly cares about each and every american regardless of political affiliation, economic class, race, gender, or religion. (yes, at one point AFTER september 11th, national security funding was distributed more to republican right wing conservative communities than it was to what can arguably be described as more free thinking communities.)

your wave
i usually do not like to give more than a couple of songwriters credit for being spot on. & yes i know that many songwriters hit the proverbial nail on the head. i actually knew that the first time i heard this song, it would fit so many external issues i see every day. everybody who can appreciate a conflict of honest struggle should appreciate this tune.
===================================
Soundgarden: Superunknown: My Wave
Take, if you want a slice, If you want a piece If it feels alright
Break, if you like the sound, If it gets you up If it brings you down
Share, if it makes you sleep, If it sets you free If it helps you breathe
Dont come over here, And piss on my grave Save it just keep it off my wave
Cry, if you want to cry, If it helps you see If it clears your eyes
Hate, if you want to hate, If it keeps you safe If it makes you brave
Pray, if you want to pray, If you like to kneel If you like to lay

young modern chair ...
Every once in a while something comes along that can give you a bit of energy; emotional, mental, patience, physical, social ... That something comes in many external forms. The result of that form can usually be traced to simple passion. To me, this is more often evident in music.
i had to rehab myself for a while after an illness. After about 18 months of therapy i got one of those best case scenario doctor reports. That same week, a friend said, "... you must hear the new Silverchair record called Diorama." & like most everyone, it took until the first strike of a drum before i knew i had to buy multiple copies of this album to do their record executives' work for them. The lead singer had just finished taking a great deal of medication. He awoke from that drug coma to write Diorama; brilliant enough to tap Van Dyke Parks for string arrangements.
A few days ago i found out that direct decendants (really good people) of my grandparents (really good people) have taken it upon themselves to make concious efforts towards degrading the soul of a human being that posesses far more character than almost every person i know behind the falicy of man verse (yeah, the bible was edited by man ... not devine work). So obviously, these people have that elusive grasp on how to hate like a proper christian.
i just lost my job. i can not get enough communication out of the powers that be in order to retain employment and, bottom line, provide them with my ability. Thus, it is far more likely that my tentative plan to move is not so tentative anymore.
Tuesday, the DVD complimented Silverchair, Young Modern comes out? [track3: If You Keep Losing Sleep -- holy crap nuggetry, like Beatles, Queens of the Stone Age, and Jellyfish meet in a blender wreck]
A buddy of mine used to be the soundman for Jimmie's Chicken Shack. He would always say that the only job he wanted was 311. He has been with 311 for years now. So, among that premise i repeat that the only job i really want is Foo Fighters front-of-house. And, when i do get that job, i really hope Silverchair becomes the siamese band for the Foo. & after working for a world tour of that bill, i could die at peace ... probably along with the fact that my soulmate knows how universally entertaining it is to hide from me.
So, if i'm gonna leave, i better get goin'. `cause i ain't wasting no more time.

mini-history
Current mood: nauseated
In 1995 my future favorite band, Agents of Good Roots was playing a weekly gig @ Trax where i worked @ the door. Shortly after that, the Pat McGee Band was also playing a weekly gig @ Trax. It took very little time & no measurable effort to really enjoy all of those band members. & with only the motivation of honesty, i need to say that the PMB music was not really exciting to me. With that in mind, i, along with about 10 other local drummers who shared some depth of that same musical perspective would always comment (& still do) on what a good drummer Pat had. We would regularly watch our buddy Chris play those really nice drum workshop drums that had the finish of what could be described as a psychedelic purple bowling ball. & soon after the PMB started their weekly shows @ Trax, i was the house engineer. So, for a few of those weeks, i got to mix that PMB. & regardless of my musical taste, they were all pro musicians that made themselves sound really good before i reinforced any of their sound. Of course they made me look way better than i made myself look.
Over the next few years, there were way too many times to recall when the PMB & AoGR (who i toured with as f.o.h.) shared the same venue, hotel, or were simply in the same town from coast to Colorado. Every single time we crossed paths, it was a full on blast. i think it would have been an impossible challenge to not enjoy myself with that group of folks.
About 7 years later i had the appetite of a bull thanks to 20-ish months of prednisone. After one of their Starr Hill shows, i carried my fat ass on to the PMB bus to say hey to my buddies that i had not seen in years. As i approached the top of the bus stairs, Chris was the only one of about 5 guys that nervously moved away from me for about 5 seconds before he realized who i was under all the fat. He quickly moved back to hug me. That was a great moment of normalcy that a disease had kept me from for several months.
&, lastly ... a couple of months ago, i was working as front of house engineer & drum tech for a show during the east coast surfing championships @ VA Beach. Normally, i need about 90 minutes to tech because i expect to help unload the show's drums off of a truck. & then i try and piece together the kit that is sturdy enough for me to set up before i can start the sometimes super-long process of tuning them. & then i can get to the rest of my f.o.h. duties. When i walked up to the stage, the drum kit was already set up & almost perfectly tuned. i looked up, & heard Chris say, "I'm here for you!" i could not even ask who the guy was to talk to about drums before he spoke. That was just about the easiest show day i have ever had.
Thanks so much for the inspiration and great memories that are now truly blessings ... peace be with you, all who love you, & all you love, brother.

black holes according to Jimmy Haha
Jimmy Haha wrote this. The front Jimmy of Jimmie's Chicken Shack posted this to his myspace personal profile blog here. i love it! Don't respond to me ... respond to him. In his blaugh it is titled: ---I think I Know Where We Go When We Die---
================================================================
are black holes a collection of souls?
black holes are the strongest and most dense sources of energy known to the universe, but they are still so mysterious. anything that comes close to one is drawn in by it's unimaginable magnetic force. the mass is so dense that nothing, not even light, (which is matter travelling at it's fastest rate) can escape it. what is it? what are they? e=mc2 might be the answer to where our souls go. macdougall discovered that at the time of death, the body losses 3/4 of an ounce of weight. is that 3/4 of an ounce, our souls? humanity speaks of the "light inside us" as our souls. our souls being matter travelling at it's fastest rate. so lets just play with the idea that the soul weighs 3/4 of an ounce. if we added together 3/4 of an ounce of matter lost by every living being since the beginning of time what would that weight add up to? it's safe to say, a big ass number that wouldn't fit on this page. if we took that number and designated it as M, meaning the weight of mass of our collective souls, and mutiplied it to c2 (speed of light squared), then... well you can imagine what that number would be like. so if energy is equal to the mass of an object times the speed of light squared then imagine the energy created by the collective weight of all souls past. holy shit. and i mean holy. or holey. black holey.
so that has been running through my head since last night and i kind of like the idea it could explain the unimaginable energy, gravity and magnatism that are black holes. why would there be more than one black hole? well there are an awful lot of galaxies in the universe. i know they say that black holes are imploding galaxies but we are all star dust anyway. maybe it is the imploding spiritual galaxies. just to think about the number of souls past, human and animal, (and maybe even plant). it is mind straining. now imagine all of the life in the entire universe. where would it all go?
lavoisier proved that matter can be broken apart and recombined but it never can lose matter. it might be in the shape of a gas or minute dust, but the original weight of an object is never lost, just displaced. so think about a human that dies and turns to dust. if there is 3/4 of an ounce displaced, perhaps into light,(matter travelling at its fastest rate) the only thing i can think of is that it is our souls.
so, if you take the sum of those souls and they travel at the speed of light squared (448,900,000,000,000,000 miles per hour), can you imagine the energy that would create. i can't, but i bet it is massive, mysterious, unexplainable, and unimaginable. maybe it would create something like a black hole. so much light, that it is dark.
i love it. i know nothing about anything but i love the idea of this.

MoneyPenny --- SunDomingo: Starr Hill; June 3rd
Besides the well known fact that MoneyPenny rocks a show as good as anybody, they are playing w/ Sun Domingo @ Starr Hill on June 3rd.
i learned through some connected sources that Sun Domingo is now (@ least temporarily) a 3 piece band. The two guitarists are no longer members. & the replacement is a guy named Snuzz Uzzell.
Again another artist that puts a stop in to Charlottesville that i used to go see about 14 years ago (YIKES ... 14 years ago) in northeast TN.
Snuzz used to play in a great band called Bus Stop. They played the pop-rock show better than anyone stopping in northeast TN in the early 90's. There was nothing else to compare it to because the Floyds would not make a stop in northeast TN.
When i heard that the 2 guitarists were no longer members of Sun Domingo, i was saddened to think that a bunch of good music might go to waste. Well, w/ no disrespect to Brian & Forrest, Snuzz is the man for the job.

top 10 band actions to not be considered bush-league.
Current mood: educational
If you are a member of the band that is playing the last slot of the night, here is the list of the smartest things you can do as a one night employee of that venue.
1: ignore the fact that you have been offered help by anyone that has a great deal of experience in this particular club.
2: ignore the actual person that has offered & created time for you to help you out.
3: never take time to communicate with any person before the show day that you have told to come out because you "could really use their help"; especially when you have already arranged for someone else to cover that base for you.
4: keep the communication between you and the person that is there for you based only on what you need as a talent.
5: have your drummer & musicians play their respective instruments while the house engineer is trying to place microphones & lines around your band's kit & amps to provide you a sound check.
6: rather than tap into that help that has been offered, have someone that is not familiar with the venue come to work for you. & especially if they are a full-time studio engineer, they should be more than ready for a club mix amongst a stage & front-of-house configuration that was designed by a drunk iguana. & if this studio engineer is currently recording your record, super bonus. You can only get better in the studio by bashing your ears @ a live show.
7: make sure that whatever engineer you do choose does not show up for any sound check for this venue they are not familiar with.
8: have one of your band members go ignorantly critique the house engineer during the first song of the opening band's set.
9: take up as much room on stage as you can so that any opening bands make more concessions for you.
10: &, of course ... change up the tempos of single songs and the filler material throughout your enitire set.
... of course, there is much more that a band & its members can to to endear themselves to the venue staff, but start here & then move towards promoting yourself & claiming the bartender mows your yard or something. This is the kind of thing you can ONLY learn w/ experience. GO GET EXPERIENCE!
oh, and currently listening to MONEYPENNY ! ! !
