Pink Martini Featured On Starbucks Holiday CD
Category: Music

Pink Martini Featured on

Starbucks Holiday CD

Pink Martini was asked by our friends in Seattle to record "Do You Hear What I Hear" for Winter Wonderland, the 2008 Starbucks Holiday CD.
Did you know "Do You Hear What I Hear" was originally written in 1962 as a plea for peace in response to the Cuban Missile Crisis?

Winter Wonderland is available at your local Starbucks store and online at hearmusic.com.

Pink Martini’s FundFest 2008! Four Benefit Concerts in Portland, Oregon!
Current mood: blissful
Category: Music

Greetings Friends and Family of Pink Martini,

Pink Martini is excited to announce FundFest 2008! -- a four-night fundraising concert event at the Crystal Ballroom on June 3 to 6 to benefit four local non-profits. Pink Martini will produce the event and donate 100% of the net proceeds to the following beneficiaries which were selected by Pink Martini band members:

Friends of Trees
KBOO Community Radio
Outside In
Bicycle Transportation Alliance

Tickets On Sale Now! at the Crystal Ballroom Box Office and through Ticketmaster!

The goal of FundFest 2008 is to raise a total of $80,000 or $20,000 each for the four beneficiaries. "Pink Martini is approached every year by dozens of organizations to perform at fundraisers and events, which is difficult because we spend so much of the year on the road," says Pink Martini bandleader Thomas M. Lauderdale. "FundFest -- which is four nights of fun and festive fundraising -- is an opportunity for the band to raise money for four different organizations whose work we want to honor and support." In 2006 the inaugural FundFest raised $84,324 and donated $21,081 each to four local nonprofits.

Pink Martini's FundFest 2008!
Tuesday-Friday, June 3-6, 2008
8pm Showtime each night

Pink Martini will perform each night with a special guest opener:

Tuesday, June 3 benefiting Friends of Trees with Portland Cello Project
Wednesday, June 4 benefiting KBOO Community Radio with 3 Leg Torso
Thursday, June 5 benefiting Outside In with The Stolen Sweets
Friday, June 6 benefiting Bicycle Transportation Alliance with Fjord Motor Company

The Crystal Ballroom
1332 West Burnside, Portland OR
www.danceonair.com

Tickets On Sale Now!
$20 in advance / $25 day of show available at the Crystal Ballroom Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com, or charge-by-phone at (503)224-4400. Subject to service charge. All ages welcome.

Patron Reception
Friday, June 6, 2008
6-8pm in Lola's Room at the Crystal Ballroom

Tickets to the patron reception are $100 at Ticketmaster or through the beneficiary organizations and include admission to Friday's concert. Thomas Lauderdale will perform Gershwin's Rhapsody In Blue, and Pink Martini band members will be in attendance to thank the four non-profits for the important work they do for our community. There will be a hosted bar and hors d'oeurves provided at the patron reception.

We hope you will come out and join us in festive support of the organizations that make Portland such an amazing place to call home!

Here's more information about the beneficiaries of FundFest 2008!:
Friends of Trees
Friends of Trees inspires community stewardship of our urban forest by bringing people in the Portland-Vancouver metro area together to plant and care for city trees and urban natural areas. Since 1989, we have mobilized thousands of volunteers to plant more than 360,000 trees and native plants, increasing Portland's tree canopy during decades when a dozen major U.S. cities lost a quarter of their tree cover. For more information visit www.friendsoftrees.org

KBOO Community Radio
KBOO Community Radio is a volunteer-powered, listener-sponsored, non-commercial community radio station celebrating 40 years of news, public affairs and music programming with an emphasis on community, diversity, creativity and activism. KBOO broadcasts at 90.7FM Portland, 100.7FM Corvallis, 91.9FM Hood River and online at www.kboo.fm

Outside In
Outside In provides comprehensive services to more than 500 youth per year who are experiencing homelessness. Initially, these youth may have emotional walls they have built around themselves to survive. They have survived families that abused and neglected them as well as adults who exploited them once they were on the streets. Outside In focuses on their strengths and builds the confidence that is required for them to be able to leave the streets. Often, we are the first person that has told them "you can." For more information visit www.outsidein.org.

Bicycle Transportation Alliance
The Bicycle Transportation Alliance creates healthy, sustainable communities by making bicycling safer, easier, and more accessible for people of all ages and abilities. For more information visit www.bta4bikes.org.

China Forbes ’78, long awaited solo disc, In Stores February 26, 2008
Category: Music

China Forbes, Pink Martini's captivating lead vocalist, will release her long awaited solo disc on February 26, 2008 on Heinz Records.

A project dear to Forbes' heart that has been in the works for several years, '78 marks a stylistic departure from Pink Martini and a return to her roots. Steeped in the singer/songwriter tradition (Forbes wrote every track on the CD) with a bit of alt country, rock and folk mixed in, '78 is a passionate, highly personal song cycle filled with intimate stories of love, loneliness, friendship and alienation.

Forbes recorded the album in her hometown of Portland, Oregon, with producer Gregg Williams (Sheryl Crow, The Wallflowers, Dandy Warhols). Backed by Williams on drums and multi-instrumentalist Eric Earley (Blitzen Trapper), with a cameo by Eric Matthews, '78 features Forbes on an array of instruments including guitar, piano, bass, harmonium and Wurlitzer. The result is a wonderfully-crafted, original and brilliant solo record—one that only Forbes could create.

China will tour select US cities in the spring so please check out her MySpace page, add her as a friend and enjoy China's fabulous new disc. myspace.com/chinaforbes

All our love,
Pink Martini
