old chinese proverbe: many pennies make rich man
Ever since uni i've been avoiding spending a penny (not in the toilet sense) but instead all my loose change has been stashed away in a jar....finally after about 3-5 years it's full (i've not idea how long i've had it for though saying that the stickers on the side are a good clue, since episode 2). So I've spent a good few hours today totting up the final amount....can you guess how much?? Tub o' money The final count Pretty pennies

Photos from April
Category: Art and Photography
It's been a long time since i've done an update, though it's always around this time of year when I get all happy snappy with my camera again, so heres a whole host of photos from April. A kitty on my hand.
Sticker from the Imperial Lesuire gig.
 Pirates in Camden!!
 Sigur Ros gig.

 Graham Coxon gig.

A cloudy day The end of the road...feel free to stalk some friends of mine who live there.

Pinner, the quaint little village road. My green crocodile shoes. About in Lodnon on way to the Pixar Exhibition at the Science Museum. One of my two new photographic projects, this one is to take photos of all the blue dots I come across.

back of the V&A. Some strange contraption in the Science museum. The biggest textured composite in the world.
 V&A chandelier

Right, time for something different, after coming across an excellent site, I decided to make my very own mario boxes...so here they are:

 One down...
The finished lot...now time to make bigger ones. :) I stumbled upon the Mission Impossible 3 premiere. Ooo it's that girl from Lost. meanwhile Tom Cruise remains hidden behind the fans like a gnome in the shrubs.

How did i end up at a HIM gig?? Good question, the answer? Free ticket. Trafalgar Square, at Love hate against Racisim, Belle & Sebastian headlining.

Wet Emo kids. Richard the Burger King. Martha the Burger Queen..of the Junction..though that should really be Jungle. Another adventure in London, this time to Portobello Road.
..and Brick Lane. And a few more random places.

 The Gerkin.

excitment
Current mood: ecstatic
Category: Blogging
Some utterly cool things have happend to me in the last few days, yesterday was as followed: - Pay day, yip! Not only in one fowl swoop i'm no longer in my overdraft, but take the total sum of my overdraft, put a plus sign in front of it and thats what im left with...Now I can afford to buy stuff!!
- Everyone in the office gave me a round of applause for some dvd case designs i've done, man that was totally embarrassing but still really nice of them
- Bumped into a random friend from the comic drawing class down at Leicester Square
- Went to Prince Charles cinema to see if they're showing Mirror Mask, only to find there's a showing of the original Godzilla movie on Saturday, instantly bought a ticket for that, I'm such a fan. They were also giving away free copies of Bizzare, a magazine I used to get all the time but haven't read for ages, but hey it's free even if it was Armadillo weekly i'd still have picked it up.
- When I got home I looked at buying some gig tickets with my new found money, unfortunatly the majority of gigs I was interested in are sold out, but I did manage to get tickets for the Shins and Decemberists, both a Koko.
Today a few more cool things happend, To celebrate book day tomorrow we're doing a book swap/library thing at the office, so I bought in Jeffrey Brown's 'Clumsy' my favorite graphic novel by a long way, while coincidently looking up about the Death Cab for Cutie gig at Astoria today and subsequent gig's which aren't sold out I found there website which has the most amazing music video I've ever seen, made by non-other than Jeffrey Brown, this was such a supprise to find, kinda bought a tear to my eye, the music totally encompases the feel of clumsy and his other work, it's just..amazing. I'd suggest anyone and everyone reading this to check it out as it's only up there for a limited amount of time. I went along to the Astoria to see about getting some tickets for Death Cab for Cutie (who after today are my new favorite band), considering they should only cost 12 pounds, the tout's were trying to sell them to me for 45 pounds, I really didn't realise I had 'mug' scribbled on my forehead, alas I will have to wait another time to see them, instead I went with a fellow work mate to a new bar thats opened and drank free cocktails and ate free food courtesy of some vouchers from work. I had the best potato wedges known to man, each one was a quarter of a potato (cut lenghtways) crispy fried, crunchy on the outside soft on the inside, just like an Armadillo!!!, however the exact opposite to a Dime bar, not sure why they likened Dime bars to armadillo's in that old 90's advert. So consol myself on the lack of 45 pound gig tickets I instead went to HMV and picked up Death Cab for Cuties 'Plans' along with OK GO 'Oh No'. It could have been worse, I could have bought an awfull lot more. I think i've been talking about Armadillo's far too much.

Dead legs and smelly armpits
Category: Blogging
I thought i'd make use of some free time at work to catch up on things, last week was going well untill mid-crapness occured, things were all good untill Wednesday, I made a really cool little comic called The life of a cat (and a girl named kitty), it was really cool and gave me a few ideas about other little comics to make, which I shall do once my motivation comes back and my moody blues leave me.
The upside to last weeks downside was it meant I spent a lot of time down the pub, (wednesday night was spent in a fruitless search for alcohol in my house). Dispite claims from friends that the Junction (my local pub) is a hell hole full of students and smokers and we're far to old to be there, I went against their better jugment and went down there on Thursday after work and met up with Jean. I was pleasently surprised to find it wasn't packed to the gills, it was quite empty actually, so none of the usual 10 min wait at the bar occured. Friday was also spent down the Junction with Andy and unsupprisingly we bumped into Bilal, who is there almost everyday it seems.
Saturday was spent watching Underworld Evolution with Richard, not a bad film and it's good to see a sequel that starts from exactly where the first film left off, something I havent seen since Back to the Future. It has it's down sides, there was an uncomfortably long sex scene in it remanisant to Matrix Reloaded, which was obviously only in there so guys would buy the film on DVD to make much use of the pause and rewind options. Though in fairness considering it was an 18 you didn't actually get to see anything, however Kate Beckinsale is a hotty and probably my ideal woman...alas she is already taken. :(
Sunday was spent going round the London Art Fair with the arts club people. I took a few fine pics of some work that I was utterly amazed by, i'll upload them later im sure. I could also swear that I saw Carol Vorderman, but my co-conspirator at the art fair hasn't owned a TV since she moved here 7 years ago so had know idea who I was talking about.
This week I made an effort to go to White Heat since it's the last time i'll be able to get away with coming into work feeling worse for wear before my new job at London gifted and talented starts next week. Steph and her gaggle of gays attended, which pretty much consists of her entire myspace top 8 lineup, which im still somewhat dissapointed to yet to get into...i'll knock Ian off his spot, Mark my words!!
We got to watch 3 bands on the night, Blood Read Shoes, a boy/girl combo similar to The White Strips but with the roles swapped around, which was okay, they had a few good bits in one of there songs, but nothing that great. Tera:Tora on the other hand were really great, there kooky looks and music seemed to win everyone over, however the headliners Neils Children were a bit of a let down, they dressed ultra stylish which they could have pulled off if they were actually famous, but instead just looked pretentious. The only people who seemed to be enjoying them were the drunked up 16 year olds that somehow managed to get in without being ID'd. So that was the night, really good, but utterly tiring, there were also an awfull lot of guys with hair similar to my own, quite scary really. I ended up crashing round at John's, I had hoped since he lived so close to my work I would get a lie in, but ended up getting up at the same time I usually do to get into work (sod's law once again at work), so with the extra free time I went to the local cafe for a lovely cooked breakfast. Considering the lack of sleep I was feeling alright in the morning, it wasn't till the afternoon when I felt like the living dead.
The one things i've realised from posting this blog, im hanging out with a lot of myspacer's, this is either becuase I meet strange people off the net, or I've encouranged all my friends to also join...maybe a bit of both.
Once again i've been buying far to many CD's. I managed to pick up the Arcade Fire EP, which im pretty chuffed about. however im still listening to Tunnels on loop right now. I've decided to ban myself from buying any more for a while, at least untill im no longer in my overdraft (which fingers crossed will have occured today)...gotta love payday!
I think i've rambled on far to much, but it makes a change from my usual photo-blogs.

P is for Plush
Category: Blogging
I came back from my weekend away in Cornwall visiting Kitty to find a fantastic supprise waiting for me, My good friend Brittney of Crumplife.com sent me a parcel full of birthday goodies..She made me the best thing ever, my very own Ninja Bunny plush toy..how I love him so. Not to mention some of her own merchandise, the fantastic 'A is for Angry' book and some of her badges, which are excellent and very handy since i've recently developed a bit of a badge fetish and blue-tac them to my wall as some kinda alternative wallpaper. The Parcel, this card will soon been adorning my wall as soon as I find where the blue-tac is.

The utterly cute Ninja Bunny Plush! :)

His back markings. The other gifts. A is for Angry. Badge Detail. The fantastic set of badges. In other news today, I bought a stack of new music at Virgin and thanks to the gift vouchers my sister bought me for Christmas it cost me under a fiver: - The Arcade Fire - Funeral
- Editors - Backroom
- Zero 7 - When it Falls
- Zero 7 - Simple Things

New Years and opther treats
Category: Blogging
A slightly belated blog about my christmas and new years, christmas was pretty bland and I didnt get up to much other than swoon over my flat screen monitor, the day before I turned 25..yes, my REAL birthday finally came ;) I went out with my friend Nick, we went out in London for food followed by ending up in a gay pub in soho, much to the delight of Nick (his first outing as a gay in London), we had quite a funny conversation with the bouncer on the way in, who obviosuly mistook us for two lost straight guys, as opposed to the 'stright guy tagging along with a gay' combo that we were, he gave us a look and said "you do know what kind of place this is??"..as if a pub in the middle of soho with pink neon lights could be mistaken for anything else.. New Years ended up being quite a treat going to the Trash/White heat combo party at LSE off Holborn, My good friend Kitty Genovese came along and bought half of her myspace top 8 with her, which im still dissapointed not to be on *sniff*. It was a very awsome, if very drunk night out and much fun was had. Someone the cloakroom staff managed to loose my coat, but after a short while of banter they managed to luckly find it for me..what kind ladies they were. Lucky the trains were running 24/7 (we misguidedly thought they stoppedat 4:30am as we waited dead on 4:30 with no train coming for 15 mins). So by 6am I managed to make it home...Hurrrah! I can only hope next years is equally as cool. The badge of Mr.Gerbil that I made, who's one of the characters that appears in the Ninja Bunny web comic that I do. I was really pleased with the result and quality from cafe press A random piece within the British Museum where I work, the day I recieved my shiny permanent staff card, and then had someone come up to me wondering what AD meant, of BC and AD date fame. He then wondered if 1600AD what prehistoric...how can some people not know these things??? it makes you wonder.
Photo's from my birthday, I was out with Nick wondering through Covent Garden so we took a detour so I could show him were i'll be working from Feb onwards, which is a street just off of CG, where we found these to little gems. The Christmas Tree...when I get a place of my own im going to get a real tree, no matter how annoying all the little pines are. A santa Tree Treat gifted to me from Kitty when she last visited, I had to try hard to resist eating them all before the tree was up, so I took a compromise and just ate the broken ones...a few more accidently fell on the floor that day.

Out in Leicester Square on New Years eve while I waited for Nick to meet up.It was really cool to watch this crazy couple play tennis with a balloon in the crowd, I wish I joined in. The Trash/White Heat NY party.

Phils faux 25th birthday party
Category: Parties and Nightlife
Since my actual birthday is next sat on the 24th I decided to have it a week early since no one ever goes out on christmas eve. Most of my friends turned up to the party, which is all good considering I gave everyone almost no notice about it, though *raised eyebrows* get pointed at those that failed to come, bar Andy who happend to be busy coughing up blood at the time...what a lovely reason. So it started off pretty early, we went to Worlds End in Camden before going off to Afterskool..where we didnt get in, so we headed off to good old Metros. The train journey there. Welsh Ben and Kitty from left to right: Me (looking a bit like a hobo with those gloves), Jason (hiding behind me), Steve and Rich. Finally at the Worlds End, about an hour late, though luckly everone else did the 'casually late thing' so we all turned up at the same time. The old college friends, I was actually just proving to Ben that the flash did work..the silly boy had the camera on the manual setting, he's from Wales after all, even things like electricity is a new concept to him. ;) Yay, the flash finally works.. from left to right: Kitty, Rik (or is that Rick), Laila and me. The girls again Ben and I..both of us try very very hard to not be drunk and drop our pint glasses by the looks of it. Rik and Laila..again. A view from upstairs..dangling off the iron spiral staircase. Jim and Paula Pint glasses and Rik (for some reason he's in alot of photos) More of the troublesome two. Jean and Steph, im not sure why the photo came out blurry, I recon steph sabotaged my camera deliberately to keep her identity obscure, oh, she's also on crutches, but you can't tell.. Richard in Metro's. Metro's Ben with his free hat he found..well, he saw someone drop by accident then picked it up for himself...the naughty boy. At this point we're trying to make out way to Trafalgar Square to get a bus home, while all the time im complaining im hungry and on the look out for a chip shop. Trafalgar Square. A blurry Steve in a very un-blurry London. The world wizzing by. Nelsons Column. Ben and Kitty trying to run away from the camera..they treat me worse than the paparazzi. A good night, I was nackered by the time we got home..which was around 4am I think, the night bus decided to stop us off somewhere totally random and refused to take us to Harrow, so we had to get a taxi the rest of the way. I really should have made an effort to take photo's of everyone, I didn't even get to plaster people with the Skull and Cross-Bone platsters that Kitty got for me. Im sure i'll take photo's of the cool gifts i've got another time.

My work
Category: Art and Photography
So, for those of you that dont know, I work at the British Museum doing their website, I havent been there long, and spent ALL of last week deliberating whether to take a new job, which i've decided to take, so from February i'll be working just off of Covent Garden. This British Museum at night My office snack, Im quite impressed that a peperami contains 108% pork. It was nice to have one as the odd snack for the first week of work, but after a few days im quite sick of them, maybe in a years time the craving will come back..but not for some time. View from my office window My Office The new 2005 50 pence piece, I've only seen a few of them about.
