Your best of 2004?

Hey everyone,

We don't have much new news besides saying that Planes will soon be announcing a UK headline tour as well as a full European support tour for early 2005... But as 2004 begins to wind down, we’d like you to keep Planes Mistaken For Stars’ Up In Them Guts in mind when putting together your “best of 2004” lists.

Here’s a few snippets of reviews by a few people who seemed to like it... hope you did too:

“The fact that Planes Mistaken For Stars are consistently lumped in with screamo fashionistas and emo bed-wetters from all corners of the Hot Topic Nation is a total shame. PMFS are, after all, a rock band- and a substantial one at that. And Up In Them Guts is the album that should, hopefully, liberate them from the shackles of misassociation.” – J. Bennett, Alternative Press

“PMFS are brutal, disturbing and eerie, but all in an unfeasibly calm way. They create the musical equivalent to a horror flick slash-fest-depicted against beautiful scenery. Gore-tinged imagery aside, this is powerful, punchy and constantly intriguing. Rock ‘n' fucking roll!” – Emily Kearns, Rocksound Magazine (UK)

“These emo-noise Denver dudes smash the state with serrated guitar fuzz and earnest if clunky sloganeering. “Who needs radar?” they demand in the anti-industrialization rant “Pigs.” “We use sent!” Like Cave In with more muscle.” - Mikael Wood, Revolver Magazine

“Consider this a reminder that once, a long time ago, emo wasn't about boys walking around with girls' haircuts, moping over the loss of their girlfriends of three weeks or using bits of the Dashboard/Get Ups formula as girl bait. It was about hardcore, about sweat, blood and the occasional bout with alcohol poisoning. Believe it or not, there was a time when emo was an offshoot of hardcore and had more to do with metal and punk rock than pop. Planes Mistaken For Stars' latest, Up in Them Guts, brings back the days of ear-wrecking emocore with a heavy-handed blend of hard-assed metal, pummeling dynamics and all the dirt and grime that's sure to keep Planes in the top percentile of punk/metal's most threatening and nasty acts.” – Matt Schild, Aversion

“With the annoying abundance of diet emo bands out for a quick buck it's great to welcome back some pure blistering fury in the shape of Colorado's Planes Mistaken For Stars. ‘Up In Them Guts', their fourth long-player, is plain nasty.” – Mark Griffiths, Kerrang! (UK)

“Man, I love this band. The ultimate rock monster. Imagine Black Sabbath jamming with Botch at a tracktor pull. This record will suck out your eyeball and skull-fuck you.” – AMP Magazine

Thanks for your support and continue to keep in touch with Planes at www.pmfs.net -- There's also a few weeks left of their current US tour with Hot Water Music, Alexisonfire, and Moments In Grace. Check them out at pmfs.net as well.
