Scribble - for my husband
Category: Writing and Poetry
truth is a terrible thing sometimes and not so freeing after all
the air isn’t so much cleared as it is heavy with honest hurt
but I meant it when I said you’re the one I want to grow gray with

15 People Dead so far

Listeria Investigation and Product Recall
Alright guys & gals - I don't usually post blogs like this but everyone needs to be aware that the list of recalled meats keeps getting longer so please, just assume none of the meat in your fridge/freezer is safe for now. You can go without some meat for a few days - it's not gonna kill you but eating it might! And no, I'm not just blogging this because I'm a vegetarian. Fifteen people have died already. Listeriosis has an incubation period of up to 70 days, during which people can be symptom free.

Plaintive Parody
Category: Writing and Poetry
Queer grief.
Why doest thou posses me
When nothing is lost in shrouded gloam
Amid clouding grazes?
Oh grief, I beseech you,
Leave me now!
Go on to a princess in perpetual mourning.
You’ve come upon me without warning!
Dearest and most wretched grief,
Stand over those that would invite you
At the first indication of shadow.
Creep unto them that would have you
As friend in times not of sorrow.
For I am thine enemy – thoust lady of brave soul -
I fail at your comedy of gloom,
And I will not contort in your shade,
Without your tragic accompaniment.
In other words, fuck off until someone dies!

Comfort Food
Category: Writing and Poetry
Macaroni and cheese is quite good
when it’s cold outside
and you want that feeling you used to get
when you were little and you came home from tobogganing
and your momma made you hot chocolate with tiny marshmallows
floating on top and let you wear dad’s sweater and curl up
on the sofa under a quilt to stop the shivering.
Or when you were sick and she served you chicken soup in bed
and dabbed vicks vaporub under your nose and
crushed up the aspirin with a drop or two of warm water and
some sugar so you could swallow it down your swollen throat.
Yeah, macaroni and cheese is good
but it’s better with a ketchup kicker.

Nocturnal
Category: Writing and Poetry
Nocturnal is a sexy word.
Waking up in the middle of the night after an erotic dream is good but fucking is even better,
as is writing a poem with the word nocturnal in it after remembering a sexy dream cum fantasy and acting upon that lust.

First Draft
Category: Writing and Poetry
I shiver you out -
You slither through my birth canal
and hit the air hissing;
bloody and sloughing.
I scoop up your placenta and eat, ravenous -
deficient.
You have starved me for three months
and I am desperate for a milked metaphor.
Any cliché will do now.
Your cloudy blue eyes regard me with amusement.
I am only your vessel
and you will exploit this
while you creep out into the world
with a fresh voice and some eclectic imagery.
You will rattle the establishment's tough skin
as I release pheromones
and prepare to fast again.
this really is a first draft, which is how the title came about (-;

Porno Preview
Category: Writing and Poetry
Lift your white t-shirt a little. Show me a glimpse of soft navel hair, masculine hair.
Release the button on your jeans and allow me a peek at the top of your boxers.
Unzip a little, yeah just a little - tease me with a partial view of the hardness inside.
Just enough to get me wet but I haven't subscribed to this channel yet!

Reality TV (a different voice)
Category: Writing and Poetry
the other night my tv blew up
it made a popping sound and then I heard some sputtering and so I walked up cautiously and peered closely because I don't remember that ever happening before and I was a bit shocked and then I smelled a burning smell and knew it really had blown up so I unplugged both it and the satellite receiver and then fretted that perhaps it was dangerous and should be taken outside but my husband and brother were both sleeping and I'm not strong enough to carry it up the stairs alone so I just surfed the internet until I thought the smell had gone away before I finally went to bed
actually before I went to bed (and before I turned on the computer), I went upstairs to watch that tv and that freaking one wouldn't work either but apparently it was the receiver so
yesterday I took the receiver from downstairs and my husband tried to hook it up upstairs with no luck so
today I pulled out the huge, wooden entertainment center and crawled behind to see if I could figure out which plugs and wires go where only to come to the conclusion that it must be the tv there too because my receiver worked downstairs but now the red light stays lit upstairs
now what are the odds that both tvs would break at once and the one downstairs was maybe 5 years old and the one upstairs is only about 2 years old and is a really expensive one with surround sound and all that jazz
I find it all very strange and
there was so many dustbunnies behind that entertainment center upstairs that, hours later, I can still feel them tickling my nose hairs and
my husband blames the tv's breaking on my choice of show, which was Big Brother
and he's probably right
so tomorrow my penance is to dust and vacuum until all the dust is gone and then read the manuals to try and fix our home entertainment systems myself, after which I'll probably have to call a fix-it person, who will rightly mock me for watching inane reality shows

Overdose
Current mood: pugnacious
Category: Writing and Poetry
Your collapse was a mini-death without just cause;
a passive-aggressive attempted suicide.
No mourning for you until you succeed.
Either live or die but don't expect respect for failing at both.

A Virtual Cornucopia of 21st Century Writing
Current mood: chill
Category: Writing and Poetry
Some of you may have noticed my lack of comments on blogs lately. It's because blog updates have not been showing up on my page and I've only just figured out how to access them through the manage blog feature. I've been too busy with personal stuff to bother figuring it out before. Plus, I'm obviously a bit of a dolt. (-;
This list may or may not contain the usual suspects (ie) people you read on a regular basis and that's my intent – to expose various writers who chance upon my blog to unique styles and new people.
This list would be much longer if I could access previous blogs without going to people's pages (that takes too long to download for me – all those heavy graphics and videos are keeping me from your pages!). So, don't feel hurt if you're not listed here. I intend to do this semi-regularly (when the mood strikes me) and it's likely that many of you will end up in a blog like this at some point.
There are short stories here and long(er) stories and poems and articles and all are completely different from each other. I like that aspect of myspace – that we have relatively quick and easy access to so much variety.
Don't turn away if the blog isn't something that you normally read. I ask that you give it a chance to stir a dialogue in your head (or with the writer) about modern life. That's what these are: a virtual cornucopia of 21st century writing.
Enjoy!
