"Sean, We Were Uncool" VIDEO!!!
Current mood: annoyed
The first thing that you should know is that the opening lyrics to Pro Audio's "Sean, We Were Uncool" are:
Sean wore those puffy vests long before The Crips
The second thing that you should know is that "Sean" is actually the oldest tune that appears on Pro Audio's album Make the Happiness Stop. John started writing it way back in the early to mid 2000s. Though back then it was really different and featured accordion.
The third and most important thing you should know is that Bri (a.k.a the girl in the band a.k.a. the one who plays oboe and sings with a girl voice) made an awesome new video for the song.
It uses nifty flash animation as well as rare actual video footage of the members of Pro Audio. Bri worked really hard on it (and her bf Iain also put some time in) so any words of praise you have are certainly welcome.
The video is on our front page, but if you're too lazy, check it out below...
What's next for Pro Audio? More vids? More songs? A documentary featuring the band members describing the pressures of the music industry to a licensed therapist?
Okay, I didn't actually make the banners. John did. But I figured out how to put them on our myspace page and hook up an easy-to-copy html box.
So if any of you are fan enough (get it like "man enough" but with an "f") to show your true lurve for the old Pro to the A to the Audio, then you can copy the code and post it on your tricked out myspace page. Or your boring ass myspace page. It will give you some pizzazzle.
In other news, did you know Bri has a MUSIC BLOG? http://thedancingpanda.blogspot.com/ There might even be a few pro audio treats there.
And we got played on another radio station. WPRK 91.5 in Winter Park, FL.
That's about it. Trying to add some new friends too, so if you see a weird friend request and then click on this blog, we sent it because we think you might like us.
Scroll down past all the album links for the banners. Though feel free to click on an album link and download our Debut or Sophomore efforts if you're feeling some credit burning a hole in your cyber-pockets.

Have Pop Tarts gotten smaller?
Current mood: annoyed
Or have I just gotten bigger? But seriously, I got vending machine pop tarts this morning and they seemed smaller than I remember.
On the plus side, I got gas for under $4/gallon today. Of course it sort of speaks to the state of affairs when I'm getting excited about pumping gas for $3.97.
In other news, Pro Audio is getting a little bit of radio play courtesy of...
I've been busy as hen lately and I haven't had time to click through thousands of myspace pages and send friend requests to friendlies.
But that means I've been missing that shivery feeling I get from seeing "New Friends" pop up on the myspace homepage.
So I was thinking, "Hey, if each one of our 3176 friends told 1 friend of theirs to befriend us, that would double our friend list and save my wrist and eyes some premature damage."
So, if you know of a friend who might like Pro Audio, please tell him or her or them or it to send us a friend request.
Then that will give me and the bandmates more time to write awesome songs and make weird videos.
So, I've been neglecting myspace. I know. I was away for a vacation at a cabin in Maine that had no internet access. It was a nice place, out in the sticks, right on a lake. Then when I got back to town, I had a pretty intense TV shoot for work that kept me working some 12 hour days. Not much computer time. Now I'm back to the normal drill, but wondering for the 4000th time this year whether or not I'm going to get laid off.
Anyway, enough about me (I'm Jason btw, in case you were curious). Let's see what else is going on in the world of Pro Audio.
Bri: Got nominated for an Emmy (for reals) for editing Project Runway. You could read all about it in her blog if you were her friend, but you're probably not, so you can't.
John: Is getting married this weekend. We'd let you know the location, but we don't want the paparrazzi hounding him and his bride to be.
Paul: Wrote a blog about joining the band and recording Make the Happiness Stop (still on sale through mailorder and internet stores). It's here...
Though Paul hates the pic. I sent them three pics and that was the one they chose.
In other Pro Audio news, the band is meeting tonight for a super-secret project that you may soon learn all about. Or maybe two secret projects. We don't know.
Also we have a request for YOU, our faithful myspace page-visiting public.
For anyone who has purchased our album and has a few spare moments, would you mind visiting our pages on iTunes and Amazon and eMusic and maybe writing a few kind words about the album in the "reviews" sections. This is of course only for people who have bought or at least stolen and listened to our album(s). And if your words are less than kind, that's cool too. We want people to be honest about how they feel.
Anyway, we'd really appreciate it especially in lieu of our lack of formal reviews.
And we're maybe on the radio???
At least 91.3FM WUNH Durham, NH has added us to the playlist. So if you're up in the Northeast, feel free to call in and request anything off of Make the Happiness Stop.
So like Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers and The Pixies before us, Pro Audio is destined to become big overseas before the American press starts paying attention.
Here is another rather glowing review of our new album Make the Happiness Stop (on sale now through mailorder and internet outlets!), this time from Is This Music? Magazine in Scotland.
On another note, if this page seems extra non-responsive for the next week, it's because I'm about to leave for a (nightmare) vacation in Maine where I will supposedly have no internet access.
So unless one of my bandmates picks up the reins in the meantime, excuse our dormancy. dormantness? dormantitude?
Anyway, see y'all in a week+

Release date: 2008-01-29
Hey everyone. Bri here. If you didn't know. Jason does most of the blogging. He doesn't actually play any instruments so we have to let him do something so he feels like a part of the band. (Um, just kidding. He plays the triangle so... that counts I guess.) I just thought I'd post something for you from me. Weird how that works right? For... YOU... from ... ME. Hmmm. The stoner in me thinks that is a VERY deep thought.
So... the new Pro Audio album is out now.
It's awesome as many of you already know. And if you pre-ordered... THANKS! Your album is probably being shipped as we speak. If not, I'll order the death of the person in charge of THAT.
If you HAVEN'T ordered yet, you totally can now! Just hit any of the links to buy an actual disc or download it legally off emusic or itunes or napster or whatever your poison is. Plus, I totally built the website so you should go admire it... proaudioband.com
Then, after you've bought it and listened and enjoyed it, you should write a review for us! Give us a virtual high-five for all our hard work and give a 5 star rating... And check out my not-so-subtle review of myself (pretending to be a fan, obvs!)
Hey, we're just like any other indie rock band out there, pouring our own monies into DIY music, trying to make music-land a more democratized, wonderful place. Plus our music is fucking catchy. If you don't like it, I'll take you out to ice cream as a thanks for buying our album anyway. But that is only if we are living in the same city, which for now is Los Angeles, and will be Portland pretty soon. Yeah, I'm moving to Portland. Suck it.
"Make the Happiness Stop" - OUT NOW!
Current mood: annoyed
Hello new friends, old friends, bands who befriended us simply for the purpose of self-promotion, and people who have no idea who we are but accepted our friend request in the hopes of filling some deep void within your soul.
Our new album is out. It's called Make the Happiness Stop. It is 52 minutes of indie rock pop prog treats for your aural pleasure, not to be confused with... oh never mind.
It has everything a young music buying public could want. Or an old music buying public. Keyboards, funny lyrics, a phenomenal drummer, an underlying sense of death and despair, boy-girl harmonies, more keyboards, long ass self-indulgent Sufjan Stevens-esque song titles, robots, distorted bass lines, little in-between song instrumentals, a vague connection to Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughter-House Five, glockenspiel, Dracula, super-fancy mixing, two years of blood and sweat, too much money, really awesome album art (with unicorns), reincarnation, a big fuck you to the world, and a little bit of marijuana.
But of course you know all this from the mountains of press the album has received. Oh wait, that's right, we had a PR company ship the disc of to 140 outlets, and were roundly ignored because we're not Robyn or whatever.
So anyway, if you have some aversion to pre-ordering, now you can just order the album on CD and it will be shipped post haste. Or if you like paying to download stuff on sites like iTunes or eMusic, then you now have that option.
Be aware there are two versions of the album on some of these sites. You want the one that was released on June 17th, NOT June 3rd. Another way to tell is that the last track "And Then I was a Cat" should be around 5:11 NOT 5:06. But it doesn't really matter if you download the wrong one. Those last 5 seconds are the only real difference.
Where are the effing links to these magical internet record stores? Why right on our myspace page. Just scroll down on the right.
Thanks for your support. Keep in mind that the album is already out of print (as in, we're not going to print any more of them) and that this may very well be the last Pro Audio album ever!
