Roxy Needs Help
Current mood: productive
Category: Pets and Animals
Please donate and/or repost for her mom Melissa.
Please help: Melissa & Roxy
I spoke with the surgeon, Dr. Wright last week and Roxy is scheduled for surgery on Tuesday, March 13. She has to stay at the animal hospital until Friday, March 16 for observation to make sure she does not get any infection and that she is getting along good and they also do some physical therapy with her. My baby's little leg will be good as new soon :)

I set up a PayPal account for donations towards Roxy's surgery, if you would like to donate please go to
https://www.paypal.com/
My email address: melrd21@yahoo.com
GASOW VETERINARY HOSPITAL is also now willing to accept Credit Card donations by phone, the money will be credited to Roxy's account there, their phone number is (248) 644-7171
If you do make a credit card donation by phone please tell them it is for Melissa Duncan and Roxy at 9266 Hillcrest
So far we have received $702.00 in donations for Roxy's surgery, thank you so much everyone for your generous donations and for reposting this for Roxy, you do not know how much we appreciate it and I cannot say thank you enough!!!! I am so thankful that there are so many loving and caring people out there!!!!
Here is the update on Roxy:
Roxy and I just got back from seeing the orthopedic specialist on Monday 1/29 morning and she does in fact need surgery, she saw Dr. Wright at Gasow Veterinary Hospital, he has been a surgeon for 30 years and he is a very nice doctor, he even sat on the floor with Roxy and gave her a good scratching. The procedure he performs is called nylon prosthesis to repair ACL ruptures which is exactly what Roxy has. The surgery would cost about $2,000
I don't want to have to set up this fund, but I have never had to ask for donations before, but right now my finances are not so great and I can't afford to pay for this surgery on my own. I've explored other options to come up with the funds, but unfortunately, they did not work out to our advantage. Roxy will be 9 years old on April 15 and I never thought anything like this would ever happen to her. She has always been such a healthy girl, but just running down the stairs after a toy at home is what caused this. Right away I noticed her limping just after coming back up the stairs and could tell that she was feeling discomfort. I took Roxy to her vet and she spent the day there to have x-rays taken. When I picked Roxy up the doctor showed me the x-rays and where she had hurt her leg and also where the arthritis has settled in :( Dr. Hutchinson, her doctor, told me it looked as though she will require surgery and I was hoping and praying that she did not need it, but Tuesday the orthopedic specialist told me that she does need the surgery to correct the ACL rupture.
Roxy came into my life when I rescued her at 8 weeks from a backyard breeder known to fight his pitties. From that moment on I always promised her I would do anything for her. I could not live with myself if she spent the rest of her years not being able to walk correctly and in pain because of the injury she sustained and I would do anything in the world for my little Angel, I love her with all of my heart and she is my best friend in the world.
I am respectfully asking you to help me get my Roxy the surgery she needs to keep her healthy. Anything you can give, whether it's just a dollar or taking a minute to repost this for Roxy, is so very much appreciated.
Thank you everyone for keeping Roxy in your thoughts, it means a lot to me :)

Child Abuse
Current mood: depressed
Category: Blogging
Her dad was a drunk Her mom was an addict Her parents kept her Locked in an attic
Her only friend was a little toy bear It was old and worn out And had patches of hair
She always talked to it When no one's around She lays there and hugs it Not a peep of sound
Until her parents unlock the door Some more and more pain She'll have to endore
A bruise on her leg A scar on her face Why would she be In such a horrible place?
But she grabs her bear And softly crys She loves her parents But they want her to die
She sits in the corner Quiet but thinking, "Please God, why is My life always sinking? "
Such a bad life For a sad little kid She'd get beaten and beaten For anything she did
Then one night Her mom came home high And the poor child was beaten As hours went by
Then her mom suddenly Grabbed for a blade It was sharp and pointy One that she made
She thrusted the blade Right in her chest, "You deserve to die You worthless pest!"
The mom walked out Leaving the girl slowly dieing She grabbed her bear And again started crying
Police showed up At the small little house Then quickly barged in Everything quiet as a mouse
One officer slowly Opened a door To find the little girl Lieing on the floor
It must have been bad To go through so much harm But at least she died With her best friend in her arms
A child dies every day from child abuse. And if you have an ounce of pity in you for little Auroura and you hate child abuse with a passion you will repost this and help out those abused children and let them know that someone cared for them. It doesn't take that long only about 10 seconds so please just do it.

Very Very Sad

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) -- About 100 oil-coated penguins have turned up dead in recent weeks off the coast of Argentina, most in a nature reserve near the frigid southernmost tip of Patagonia, environmentalists and authorities said Thursday.
The Argentine Coast Guard said it was sending flights in search of oil spills, but reported finding none that could have caused the birds coated in black crude to begin arriving on shores off the Straits of Magellan.
"This is very worrisome. We don't know the source," said Francisco Anglesio, environmental undersecretary for Santa Cruz province where the deaths occurred, speaking with reporters in southern Argentina.
Authorities reported some 70 of the dead Magellanic penguins were found at the Cabo Virgenes nature reserve on the Straits in the remote province, 1,350 miles south of Buenos Aires.
But environmentalists said they also found 31 of the wide-ranging migratory penguins dead off the Atlantic coast, some 375 miles southeast of Buenos Aires. Workers have organized a rescue mission, setting up care centers in both locations for some 110 surviving penguins.
In Santa Cruz, a half-dozen workers with gloves carefully removed oil Thursday from the birds and placed them in pens.
"We are giving them food if they will accept it and hoping they will recover their strength. But we have to wait," said Jorge Serra, one of the rescue workers interviewed on local television.
Carla Poleschi, at the environmental group Fundacion Patagonia Natural in southern Argentina, told The Associated Press the surviving birds will undergo a treatment process that could take up to 40 days.
As an organizer of rescue groups in Santa Cruz, she said workers would spend the first week wiping away oil and gingerly feeding the birds through plastic tubes. She added the penguins were being kept in heated pens to recover from hypothermia.
Oil spills are reported by environmentalists to have caused thousands of penguin deaths over the years.
The last reported oil spill along the Strait occurred last September, killing some 40 penguins.
Rescuers are hopeful that because the migration period is now ending -- and the majority of the penguins have reached the coast -- they will not find any more oil-soaked penguins in the coming days.
