Dear MySpace
Current mood: irate
Category: MySpace

You suck. And this is one of many reasons why. If you look at my profile page you will see there that it says I am married. You'll also see that I am here for friends and networking, not for Serious relationships or dating. And Yet, and yet, you continue to serve me banner ads with sluts on them for miserable dating websites. You have an entire profile of data on me that I voluntarily entered into your site, yet you use none of this wealth of information to serve me relevant ads! Instead I am bombarded by skanks and cell phones for which I care nothing.

This is just one reason why you suck, and this is an actual good reason not a dumb 'all your users are emo whore teens or spammers' reason.

strawberry shisha
Current mood: beautiful

Yum.

I got some strawberry shisha the other day and I'm finally getting a chance to really enjoy it. It's so smooth and just a beautiful flavour.

I got a new job. I've started part time while I wean my former job of it's dependance on me. But I still have monday and wednesday afternoons off. I am going to miss them when they are gone.

I'm drinking a pastis and listening to The Refreshments it's a shame they split up, they had some fantastic drinking music.

Not much to say really... I'm working on fixing the design of Dan's photo album so it looks like the rest of his site. This is something I've been meaning to do for literally two years or more.

How are you doing?

Thesis Blows, Hookah Rules
Current mood: calm
Category: Life

I love my hookah, it's just this great mellow thing. The smoke is so yummy and so smooth, it doesn't reek like cigarettes, and it doesn't burn the crap out of your throat. I don't think it is addicting like cigarettes, though I do love to smoke it, but I don't feel like I have to.

I'm putting together a mock up of my poster for my thesis project, I printed it out in tiles, it takes up 18 pages the thing is 27" by 40" which is movie poster standard size.

I'm also doing a website, actually that's my main focus with my thesis project. The site is all in flash and it is in the style of sites like Donnie Darko and Requiem for a Dream. My site is also a sort of interactive trailer like those sites. I'm doing it for the movie Apocalypse Now, which lends itself to that sort of style pretty well.

I guess I should post something since I've been a myspace whore all morning
Current mood: annoyed

I'm listening to some crazy ass hindi techno right now It's called Retro Chill-Out by Kishore Kumar It's a little too ethnic for me? I don't know. It's certainly no Karsh Kale. This guy uses samples from western music and the beats are all programmed. Maybe the problem I have with it is the really terrible singing that sounds like it was recorded through a pair of headphones. heh, there was just a sample of "Get Busy Child" from the Crystal Method I bet that's probably a copyright violation but it's from India so who cares? the previous song had that "WOO! -- yeah!" Sample that was in every f'ing song in the late eighties/early ninties. Why won't that sample die? I hate it so.

This whole post is bizarre, a weird stream of consciousness/complaining about this fubar music I downloaded. I don't think I can take much more of this. Maybe I'll just leave the sorting good hindi techno from the bad to Shyam. He seems to deliver decent stuff, though few and far between. Karsh Kale, Sharaab, TJ Rehmi, Midival Punditz, Nitin Sawhney are all very good. This guy, Kishore Kumar, is miserable, right now it's like this messed up Indian Polka...

I couldn't find this album by him on the myspace search thing but there was this other album that is probably painful to experience as well.

two coals makes for better smoke
Current mood: cheerful
Category: Goals, Plans, Hopes

This is a true fact. I'm not sure wy but I think it is because air can get under the second coal that I leave leaning on the first and it pulls more heated air into the tobacco.

The hookah is more fun with a friend. That's why it has two hoses. Unfortunately for me, I am by myself right now. The second hose is removed and a rubber stopper is wedged into the hose receptacle since I don't have one way hoses.

I can't wait for it to get warmer. It's so cold in the Hookah room. Heat rises, but this attic is not warm at all. Of course the house below isn't all that warm since gas costs a lot and it's cheaper to wear lots of clothes. When it gets warm I want to have some good friends over for a hookah night or something. Some nice red wine, some good tunes on the record player, some yummy shisha in the hookah, some great conversation and a beautiful warm spring night.

I don't know if that will ever happen. People are so busy. I am so busy. Life is so busy. It's hard to get a moment in time when everybody's schedule works. Additionally, I don't even know where I will be come spring. I hope I can find  a job in Milwaukee so we don't have to move. Anne's job is so great I'd hate to pull her away from it. I know she's ready and willing to go where ever I find a job. But then she has to find a job when we get there.

It's easier to stay.

Is that how you should live life though? Doing things specifically because they are easier than other things? I don't think so. I took on this thesis project for a number of reasons, but one of them wasn't because it was easier. Which I sometimes kick myself for, heh. Dan stayed in San Diego, working at Enterprise and living with Grandma because it was easier. He told me that's why he stayed so long before going to grad school. He told me it in a way that said, "Maybe I should have done something other, but I didn't because this was easier."

Certainly looking for a job in Milwaukee isn't a bad thing. but I don't think I should not look for a job elsewhere. Indeed I am a nomad at heart, as is Anne. That's what moving around a lot as a kid will do to you. You want to continue moving around as an adult. I have lived in milwaukee for nearly six years, that's coming close to the longest I've been in a place. Am I growing weary of Milwaukee? I don't think so, but I also wouldn't mind a change of scenery.

I never reach any conclusions. Or do I?

Hookah Room Blog?
Current mood: busy
Category: Life

I'm thinking maybe I'll use this myspace blog as some sort of Hookah Room weblog since some people who read my other blog are unaware of my owning a hookah and maintaining a specific room for it in the attic.

Here's a disclaimer and it is actually true. I only smoke shisha out of my hookah, never any illegal drugs like pot. I'm sure most people in America who have a hookah probably use them to smoke pot but I hate the way that shit makes me feel. I always feel like a complete idiot when I smoke it.

Anyway, some of you probably don't know what Shisha is and sometimes it is used as a synonym for marijuana. That is an incorrect use of the word. Shisha is a mixture of tobacco and a sweetner, generally honey or molasses. It is often flavored with some sort of fruit or other yummy flavouring such as Jasmine. You can read more about hookahs and shisha at wikipedia.

So I'm up here and I'm just working on my thesis project. Actionscripting is a pain, but it's amazing what you can get it to do if you're smart enough.

I don't blog here
Current mood: cold
Category: In the Hookah Room MySpace

Hey, check out my main blog at freesand

I'm freezing my ass off sitting in the little room in my attic that we have converted into a little sanctuary. Complete with big floor pillows to sit on, a low table to sit at, record player sound system currently attached to my laptop, and candles burning.

I'm burning some Double Apple shisha in the hooka and have added a bit of marjoram oil to the water as it is supposed to foster respiratory health, so maybe they'll cancel each other out. Ha. It adds a faintly minty flavor to the smoke, which is nice, though it makes me feel a bit cooler perhaps?

This place is much nicer in the warmer months.
