the coldest spring break ever....
but i’m not complaining. i’m in london! yay. i love this city. it’s old, grey dreary, overcast, and beautiful. the people are friendly. every person i pass is speaking in a different accent or language. there are antique book stores everywhere. public transport is amazing. everything is well marked, it’s impossible to get lost... unless you’re walking - some of the intersections have anywhere from 4-8 streets converging at once. i’ll have to post some pictures of the tube stations. the tunnels are old, very old. and katrina, the hotel i’m at is right around the corner from the one we stayed at last time.
ah, london. and i’m tired. my body hasn’t quite figured out the new sleeping schedule.
more pictures and whatnot later.
send me an address if you want a post card.
toodles.

jen, do you remember when we made cd’s of all of our favorite drinking songs?
the last couple weeks, i've been coming across songs on my ever-so-neglected ipod that i've ended up obsessing over for days at a time. the list continues to grow.
what i want to know is,
when was the last time you made a mixed cd/tape? (or maybe you've given up on that technology completely?) did you make it for your own sanity, or someone else's? what was on it? was there a theme?

over soon
Current mood: thirsty
It only ever happens at the end of the semester. I stay up late, thinking if I do I'll get something done, and what do I do instead? I change my myspace profile, and read random Wikipedia articles 'till my eyes hurt. It's raining. I'm supposed to be being productive, and instead I write some absolutely random blog entry that has no pertinence to anything. I need motivation, and possibly proper nourishment. I must be tired, I'm checking the spelling of every other word I type....

I just got blog-spammed.
(I'll be leaving it here just as a reminder. But I'm sure that his profile will be deleted very shortly, so it won't be there very long anyway.
These people who spam our blogs, or sign up with fake profiles to advertise mp3's, and money making schemes - do they enjoy it? Fuck off. I hate you, stupid Myspace!!!!!!!!)
Original post: ------------------------------------->
I'll admit, I used to like to click on the "Cool New People" pictures - they were always bizarre midwesterners. But it's been replaced with "Cool New Videos", which really isn't that cool.
I'm not a fan of the new homepage format - too many advertisements. Don't you make enough money off of us already, Rupert?

this is my comment
i was looking at my profile, listening to "Barnacles," wondering if it was possible to leave a comment for yourself. i scrolled down to the bottom of the page, clicked "Add Comment," and this is the message i received:
"Error: You must be someone's friend to make comments about them."
Am I not my own friend? Is this a technical default, or social commentary? what are you saying, tom?

resident evil 2
sometimes when i watch a really fun action movie, i started picturing how each of the smallest motions i make would like on a screen, what kind of special effects and lighting tricks would they use? would the speed it up? slow it down? what kind of music would there be? would there be urgency in this scene?

...music...
i'm trying to say this eloquently but i can't...
it's overwhelming, the amount of available music. most of it's crap. but still there's this constant battle to find the next best thing. you know what i mean. maybe you go to twelve shows a week, maybe you browse the alternative radio stations, follow the indie labels, surround yourself with musicians; maybe you're 200gb hard drive is overflowing with downloaded songs, 98% of which you'll never listen to; maybe you gave up, it was just too much for you. maybe the town you live in sucks, and it was too depressing to go to shows anymore. maybe it all started to sound the same, and you could no longer tell this new band from that band. maybe you stopped because you were tired of being sold the latest product.
i ran across ugly casanova today. i hadn't listened to the album in a really long while. and now as "hotcha girls" plays in the background, and i hear the words i'm typing to the melody, i must acknowledge that this has got to be my favorite album since 1996. everytime i sit down and listen to it i hear something new - and it's one of the only albums that i can just sit down and listen to, really actually listen to without getting bored - it's not the only one, there are definitely others, but their number is small, between the four hundred cd's i haven't touched in over a year, and that ridiculous hard drive, the percentage is very low. but out of ego maybe, or fear, that library will continue to grow.
if you're not that familiar with ugly casanova, here's an awesome article i found a few years ago.

This fucking scotch is great. Let's play Scrabble. - Bukowski
Current mood: bouncy
I just love the harper's weekly:
Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan was awarded France's highest civilian honor, the Legion d'Honneur, and was kicked in the head by a camel. Terri Irwin, the widow of Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin, urged her late husband's fans to respect stingrays, which she described as "cute little pancakes in the ocean." Britain's top female paraglider was mauled by eagles. "Eagles," said a colleague, "are the sharks of the air." The Indian Army was preparing to hunt down man-eating leopards in Kashmir, and elephants in Thailand were head-butting and robbing trucks. New Jersey warned its residents against eating heavy metal-contaminated squirrels, roboticists announced the creation of a teddy-bear robot that will help men meet women, and an Australian man sold his life on eBay. New York Governor Eliot Spitzer told Republican Assemblyman James Tedisco, "I am a fucking steamroller and I'll roll over you or anybody else," and James Taylor was about to go on tour. After it ransacked House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's Washington, D.C., residence, a small black bird was captured in a brown bag and released. "She kept thinking to herself," said a spokesman, "'Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore."'"
