Bad News is king
Category: News and Politics
We have energy prices going through the roof, food prices soaring and you and I are paying more for… well, bloody everything. Everybody seems to be pointing to the changing global environment as the reason, that's right, go blame the one thing that can't answer back… Mother Nature
It's not just us, I can tell you that this is the same for manufactures. I can name a few buyers that I deal with that have contemplated the leap of faith as a result of the changing climate…
But what of those that are selling the products to you and I, not just food but utilities like electricity, gas and fuel… in this gloomy economic climate are they suffering, are they fuck
BP posted 4th quarter profits of £1.5bn (2007) Shell posted annual profits of £13.9bn (2007) Tesco posted annual profits of £2.5bn (2007) British Gas posted annual profits of £2.1bn (2007)
It would seem that some out there are having a fucking hoot… There is a huge imbalance here people. It's no wonder that these 'Go Compare' web sites are doing so well… I'm gonna create a 'Go fuck yourself' website which will be purely for those amongst that are continuingly having the 'shit' ripped out of us…
I work in an industry where sentiment is king… a butterfly flaps its wings in China and oil prices soar on the back of bad weather in South America. See bad news makes money and the more of bad news there is, the easier it is to raise the price of everything and anything… the industry love's bad news…
Look, I'm not stupid… I understand that these companies are there to make money. But, when you have many on the poverty line, pensioners not being able to afford basics like warmth and a provider posting obscene profits it gets you thinking… something is not quite right
I hate Wednesday's
Happy damn Wednesday

Wright for the gallows…?
Category: News and Politics
There is no denying that on occasion I have wished for more than prison for some convicted criminals… I even blogged about how unhappy I was that Huntley didn't quite pull off his suicide attempt…
And I understand why the families of the five women murdered in Ipswich are calling for that monster (Wright) to be executed, who's to say I wouldn't feel the same if something similar happened to a member of my family
But do I really believe that the death penalty should return… no.
See, the way I see it is that the death penalty should be, like any other penalty, a deterrent and I am not convinced that it is. Look to the countries that that still practice the death penalty, do you see year on year falls in crime as a result on the maximum punishment being handed out… no.
And I know you could argue that if the death penalty didn't exist that crime would be higher but I am still not convinced.
I think that monsters like Huntley, Wright and Sutcliffe etc. would have still killed whether the death penalty was still around as the last they had on their mind was consequence, as they were/are sick and deranged.
This is not to say that I am completely happy with which the way they are treated in prison… I think that their existence should be just that… a mere existence, no press exposure when one of these sick fucks gets a kicking and when they get life, it means life and add to that just three privileges eat, shit and sleep.
Really sorry for being so grim on a Friday… believe it or not, I actually feel pretty 'chipper' today!
Anyway, have a blindin weekend and have a happy damn Friday

Al Fayed’s fire
Category: News and Politics
Missed opportunities… I guess we have all had them, but I bet none were as spectacular as Al Fayed's…
As you all are probably aware, Mohamed Fayed has been fighting furiously for, in his eyes, Justice, since that tragic death of his son and Diana (for what it's worth, I think that this was no more than a tragic accident, but hey, what the fuck do I know…).
Anyway, my point… Al Fayed has been waiting years to get a public hearing, an opportunity to put his views/beliefs forward in an official capacity rather than through the press… years he has been waiting for this moment… to stand in the Dock and give a powerful, convincing, heart felt account of himself whilst under oath.
So when that moment arrives what does he go and do… turn into a cross between comedian and the fucking Sex Pistols… not too mention class 'A' fodder for the tabloids to stomp all over…
So he hits the headlines in spectacular fashion, not as a broken man who has lost his son delivering a powerful passionate account as to why he believes his son (and Diana) died…no, he hit the headlines for sounding like a complete dick who has lost the plot… even the BBC were taking the piss…
Look, I can't imagine what it must be like to lose a son and I genuinely feel for him in that respect, but I really think he let himself down here…
Look at the headlines:
Duke of Edinburgh: "Nazi" and a "racist" who ordered MI6 to assassinate Diana, Princess of Wales because she was pregnant with a Muslim baby.
Prince of Wales: Plotted Diana's "murder" so he could marry his new "crocodile wife" Camilla Parker Bowles.
Royal Family: "Dracula family"
Tony Blair: Assassins were acting on orders from "the prime minister and his henchmen" as well as the Royal Family.
…and the list goes on, which I must confess, I found very funny, and in essence that is the point…
He even attacked reporters outside the court that were asking seemingly strait forward questions about the case… It would seem that anyone that doesn't agree with Alf is in some working for MI6…
It wouldn't surprise me it ends up being a question on future Harrods employee application forms… "who do you think killed Dodi & Diana… hmmm
Well, tis Wed-nes-day… and I hope you have a damn happy one

Freedom of choice going up in smoke!
Category: News and Politics
I have never smoked, never appealed to me since a group of us aged around 10 clubbed together a bought a box of matches and 10 Nº6 one very hot muggy day in '74'… the heat of the day and the smell just was too much, I can tell ya, I got the pissed ripped out of me that day…
But I have never had any real objections to people that smoke… I, like most of us, had the odd whinge that my clothes smelt after a night out, encouraged loved ones to stop because I care about them and raised an eyebrow on the odd occasion if someone smoked while I was eating. But in the main felt that this was your personal choice and if that is what you wanted to do then so be it. Now, you may of heard that a proposal is being put forward by Julian Le Grand, chairman of a ministerial advisory board, he has come up with a fucking corker of an idea… smoking permits.
He proposes a ban on the sale of tobacco to anyone who can't flash a licence at the cashier. Not only that, these licenses cost around £10 per year and need to be reapplied for on an annual basis… for fuck sake
Hold on a minute, this sounds all too fucking familiar for my liking… take a subject like, the environment, and under the guise of 'for the greater good' make a shed load of money… now replace environment with healthcare… hmmm
Lets be honest, you and I know that Julian Le Grand couldn't give a monkeys arse whether you kick the habit or not… no, strike that, in fact he would much prefer that people started smoking to make this 'hair brain' a successful and profitable venture…
Its all about 'da' money… whatever happened to freedom of choice!
Anyway… have a Happy Damn Monday and remember… somebody out there loves you!!!

Event organiser required…!
Category: News and Politics
When we all look back on our life's we will all have hat full of memories, you know family, friends, bits of news, films… stuff that has filled our heads over the years.
And if there is a film in there somewhere I am sure there will be something that Mr Spielberg would have had a hand in… personally, I feel like I have grown up with the fella and although I have not been a huge of all of is work the positives way 'out way' the negatives (I never get tired of watching 'Duel').
But, I must confess, as mush as I respect him I was pretty fucking miffed when he agreed to be the artistic adviser for the 2008 Beijing Olympics… why would he want to have anything to do with these fuckers…
I must say at the this point that my swipe at China is levelled at the tossers that run this huge country and not the poor folk that are treated like worker ants… Communism my arse… if I was to list the shit that fucked me off about China I would be stabbing away at the keyboard all fucking day…
Right, back to Stevie… I am still pretty pissed off that he took the 'gig' in the first place but can't help salute the timing of his withdrawal as this lands them right in the shit and you know that this will hit them at the core. He has sighted Darfur and the sheer arrogance of China in recognising the damage that their assistance to the Sudanese government is causing… Sudan sells some two-thirds of its oil to Beijing. In return, Beijing sells weapons to the Sudanese government and has unbelievably defended Khartoum in the UN Security Council.
So… who should organise the event now, I think we should send them the outfit that put together the opening ceremony of Euro 96… Oh the shame!!!
Anyway… enjoy your day of luv and have a happy damn Thursday

Bloggin
Category: Blogging
Good morning… I am hoping this blog finds you all fit and well…
Apologies for dropping out of the blog community for a while. I know what you were thinking… That's right Quadie, get yourself over 50 comments then leave us high and dry… riding off into the sunset on your ostrich with new found popularity! (fuck knows where that image came from)
Well, wasn't quite like that… I love to blog (as you all know) but what I love more is the interaction of the comments. And for the last 4 or so months I just haven't had the time to respond to comments… 'life' has been pretty stacked, but I'm not complaining, that's life as they say. The way I see it is if someone take's the time to respond to a blog, then it is only right to respond to the comment…
I have switched off from 'life' at the moment as I'm full of flipping cold and what is odd, I have developed this rather worrying deep voice… I barely recognise myself every time I speak, it's like listening to a recording of myself doing an impression of someone with a really deep voice…
Right, I'm off to climb and clear this mountain of tissue that has been rising around me…
Have a happy damn Tuesday

Who really wants to be a British immigrant…
Category: News and Politics
I've been thinking… I kinda like the Britain… strange I know, given that I spend most of my time ranting about a lot of happens within it! I guess that that in itself is one of the reasons I love it, because I (we) can…
And I do find it a little bizarre that people are leaving the shores in pretty high numbers to be… immigrants on foreign soil.
I deal with an Olive oil producer in Servile (Spain), and one night after a few too many bottles he/they told me exactly what they thought of the British invasion and the despair at seeing huge areas of the country being handed over for the development of another 'Brit village'… "It's not all about economics Quadie"… where have heard that before. And I bet Spain isn't the only place that these 'after dinner' conversations are taking place
Now I know it seems the country is going to the dogs but is it, is it really… I'm not so sure. If you were to take serious everything that was thrown at us down the 'tube' and in the papers we would all be a swinging by now, if you get what I mean. And I think (putting me 'cock on a block' here) that if you ask those among us that are relatively well travelled, they will say that this place ain't so bad.
Those of you who have teeth long enough will remember the dodgy grey early seventies where most of us and our families had fuck all… these were pretty shit times, and I for one am not pining for those times…
And yes I know we now have council tax bills, the threat of fucking nutcases trying to blow us up, packed schools, MRSA, Parking fines, Floods, Tesco, binge drinking… feel free to add your own!
But at least we have got rid of… err… the plague!
But when you leave these fair shores it is almost impossible to come back… that just ain't for this boy.
And who wants Christmas on a fucking beach? Sorry, my Santa has reindeer, sledge and elves not a surf board and beautifully crafted bronzed little helpers…
Anyway, have a Happy Damn Sunday
Quadie, forever the optimist!
I couldn't go without having a rant about something… Newsflash: Santa's are being told to change HO HO HO to HA HA HA as the HO's could scare small children… (this is true)
That's it, get the fucking cases where off…!

Failing on the Domestic front
Category: News and Politics
If I, and I would say most of you, did our job really badly, we would probably either get a big bollocking… suspended or even lose our job altogether. Especially if our actions were deemed to be, in some way, a contributing factor to somebody losing their life… and I think that most of us would expect that…
But it would seem that this mind set seems to have been 'drop' kicked out of the ground in the case of PCs Charlotte Hall and Theresa Cottingham after they dismissed an incident as criminal damage rather than 'domestic' violence, and took no action.
Colette Lynch had called police to her home after an ex boyfriend (Percy Wright) smashed a window and threatened to cut her throat… 'criminal damage'… hmmm?
Two days later Wright returned and stabbed Colette to death on her doorstep
The two officers didn't: • Follow their force's domestic violence policy • Properly record, investigate and manage the incident • Take positive action to protect Miss Lynch • Make any attempt to find Wright • Take evidence (the stick he used to smash the window)
But what they did do was between them was write a 20 word summary on the incident (PC Hall wrote just 11 words in her pocketbook, while PC Cottingham summed it up in nine)… must have been a fucking good read… sharp, concise and to the point
Let's see if I can sum it up in 20 words, and remember, this is at least 9 words more that they used:
Turned up to {address} to find Miss Colette in distress after Percy Wright had smashed her window, Lynch told us…
… that's it, 20 words… did their pens run out of fucking ink?
The investigating panel ruled that the officers were both guilty of failing to perform their duties "diligently and conscientiously". "They took too narrow a view of the incident and should have asked "quick, simple and fundamental questions".
Want some help, here's a couple of questions that you may wanna put in your little note book for the next time you get called to a domestic:
• Who smashed that window • Did he threaten you • How did you get that bruise • Did he threaten to return • Where does he live • Are the children alright • Have you somewhere safe to stay • DO YOU FEEL SAFE ON YOUR OWN… for fuck sake, it's not fucking nuclear science… these are meant to be trained police officers
So what punishment did these to PC's get for this 'gross' negligance… they each lost a weeks wage… (fucking speechless)
Yes, it was ordered by the Independent Police Complaints Commission that PC Theresa Cottingham and PC Charlotte Hall, were to be docked five days pay…
Well there's a message for those of you that are completely shit at your jobs… your safe
Happy damn Saturday

Wife beating the Saudi way…
Category: Life
It often surprises how, as we trundle on in time, we can look back at things that were once common place here and in other 'civilised' nations and now thankfully have disappeared, things like slavery, the voting system the list is just too long… but we get to a point and look back and think "did we really do that" or "was that really acceptable"
And I know that there are 'civilised' places where certain things continue to take place legally which are just barbaric… bullfighting, public executions to name but a few
But I picked up on something over the weekend that is clearly a step back in time to a place that I am not too sure ever existed and was ever legal…
A Saudi TV channel has been running programmes teaching young me how to beat their wives. The Ramadan Show is a program for young adults…
The cleric who presents it, Muhammad Al-'Arifi, says "If you beat her, the beatings must be light and must not make her face ugly. He must beat her where it will not leave marks," he says.
What the fuck…
"He should not beat her on the hand... He should beat her in some places where it will not cause any damage. He should not beat her like he would beat an animal or a child - slapping them right and left."
Like you 'beat' an animal or a CHILD… this bloke's fucking priceless…
He even says on some occasions that you could use a toothpick!?
"In fact, the beating can serve a purely symbolic purpose – in which case the husband can use a toothpick, just to make his point". Some religious scholars say: "He should beat her with a toothpick." I happen to have a toothpick with me… would you like to see it?"
Err… no, I may be compelled to show you just how much damage could be done with a toothpick… knob
Fucking incredible…
Well, let's just hope in five years time we are looking back and saying things like "I can't believe we used to use carrier bags" that this little gem is buried deep in time hopefully with Muhammad Al-'Arifi
Have a happy damn Tuesday one and all

Putting the Company’s Profile first…
Category: News and Politics
I love Christmas… yes, love it. Its not just the day itself, it's the build up to Christmas day I really enjoy… getting together with friends and family, the feeling in the workplace… the whole thing. Don't get me wrong, I see family and friends all year but at Christmas it just feels a little different
So you can gauge my response when hearing about a government think tank (The Institute of Public Policy Research) recommends that we (Britain) should 'dismantle' Christmas.
See, This 'Think tank' has recommended a number of ideas to make Britain more multi-cultural, claiming many barriers of "national culture" as possible should be dismantled to help immigrants settling into the country
Who the fuck are these people… talk about playing into the hands of the far right… did they think that by releasing this report they were going to get an overall 'nod' of approval from the nation, create cohesion between the faiths, create harmony in the community and the work place… no, it is the stuff of fucking headline hoarding. Raising of ones profile, a publicity stunt…
Check this out… this is their mission statement:
Our agenda is simple: we want to build a fairer, more democratic and environmentally sustainable world. We are driven by these values, not by any party or interest group.
You missed of stirring up racial hatred stimulating cultural divide…
And how do make these conclusions? Do they all just sit in an office and sound off opinions until one 'sounds' interesting?
If what they are trying to say is that other faiths should be allowed to celebrate their faiths too, then just fucking say that, don't start by saying that we should remove an important date off of our calendars…
If the IPPR want to do something useful, maybe they should look at what the nation thinks about seeing Christmas decorations up in shops during October!!
Anyway, have a happy damn Thursday

What do people really think…?
Category: News and Politics
Ever watched a journalist or news reader and wondered what they really think… where would they stand if the lines were drawn, how hard it must be sometimes to remain 'impartial', that's the job I guess… that is unless you work for C4 news or News night of course, who thrive on dragging politicians and corporate 'representatives' into the studio to give them a fucking good kicking… can be very funny!! But to be fair, they give all parties and all comers a bit of a kicking…
Of course, you are only going to get a real sense of what people think when the microphone is off…
If you have ever watched Sky news you may have seen a news reader called Julie Etchingham, no biggy if you haven't. Not much in the way of a celebrity unlike the BBC presenters and news readers who insist that they are a bit special… (sorry, that's another itch that may need a scratch at some point)
But, I found a fondness for JE recently after a cock up she had made live on air during a David Cameron speech (I must just add, I believe this to be JE take on what Cameron is saying and not what she thinks):
Viewers saw Cameron saying: "Let me outline the action that a Conservative government would take. As we have seen, some of the increase in population size results from natural change - birth rates, death rates. Here our policy should be obvious... " At which point Etchingham's voice was then clearly heard to say: "Extermination."
Absolutely fucking blindin…!!
Of course, there had to be some kind of backlash… God forbid somebody has a fucking opinion…
Conservative MP for Romford Andrew Rosindell was angry over the comment. He said: "It is a very irresponsible and stupid thing to say bearing in mind it is coming from a serious journalist. Journalists should behave better and not make absurd remarks like that."
Shut up 'tit', it must be so fucking difficult being so perfect… If you ever see Rosindell ask him what he thinks about gay rights, make sure your microphone is off…
Well, I for one would welcome Jules around for a coffee anytime
Have the happiest damn Tuesday

The loss of dignity
Category: News and Politics
Certain stories stop you in your tracks… they can be huge world changing events or they be heart felt small gestures of good will…
What stopped me in my tracks yesterday was the act of one young man and a crowed of onlookers…
Whilst Christine Lakinski was walking home from the shops she collapsed and died, it wasn't apparent that she had died, to onlookers it would have appeared that she had just collapsed. You would have expected that anyone that had seen her fall would have checked her and called the emergency services…
But it would seem that certain parts of our world don't spin that way anymore. First on the scene was 27 year old Anthony Anderson, he poured water over Christine Lakinski and then urinated on her… all this while his mates filmed it on a mobile phone…
I was lost for words when I heard this on the news. Someone tell me what the fuck is going on here… what possessed him to act in this way, we are not talking about teenagers or kids, Anderson is a 27 year old man…
And let us not forget the onlookers, the ones that stood around filming and laughing… are they being dragged into court, these wankers need to shoulder some of the blame here… How the fuck could they stand around and watch Anderson do this while Christina Lakinski lay either dead or dying. I just don't get it, in the minds of six or so people this was perfectly acceptable behaviour… just fucking unbelievable
See, I refuse to believe that this is truly represents our society today, I can't swallow that… we are so much better than this. Anderson and the onlookers are freaks and there are no doubt more like them out there. I don't know of anybody that would act in this way, and I'm pretty sure you don't either…
Anderson is now serving 3 years in prison which doesn't seem enough but what do I fucking know…
Didn't mean to be so 'pissed off' this morning… sorry
Enjoy your day
