CD REVIEW-MILLENNIUM by THE COSMIC NOMADS
Current mood: bouncy

Australia has got to be "pound for pound" the greatest country on earth for producing great rock bands. The shame of it all is that over the last 40 years or so, many of these amazing groups did not become house hold names, even in Australia. The new release "Millennium" combines many music styles and is led by Ray Vanderby and his Hammond Organ (think Jon Lord) and they are from the old school, with a nod to the best of today’s prog rock. Had this album been recorded and released in the early to mid 70’s on a major label, we are talking record sales on a level with Deep Purple and Yes. There is still plenty of great music being recorded today, it’s not however getting much radio play so you have to do a bit of digging to find it. It’s hard to pick out any stand-out tracks, the whole cd is a stand-out, and like records from the years gone by, it’s meant to be listened to from start to finish, IT’S AN EXPERIENCE. There are groups around today that are "throw-backs", however they just don’t do it the way it should be done. Jet and Wolfmother are good bands, but compared to The Cosmic Nomads, it’s like comparing Tiny Tim to Elvis. PLEASE visit the website and purchase this cd, let’s do our best to get the word out about such great bands, and make sure that they keep recording. DO NOT MAKE COPIES of such cds. To copy a Zeppelin cd or such is no big deal to their band account or history. To do so from band the The Cosmic Nomads, may be just stealing a would be history.

ROCK NEWS
Current mood: adventurous
Category: Music
OUT ON JUNE 2nd THROUGH UNIVERSAL MUSIC
Universal Music are delighted to announce the release of a new studio album from British rock legends Uriah Heep in June 2008.
"Wake The Sleeper" will be Uriah Heep’s first studio album in almost ten years (the first since 1998’s "Sonic Origami") and is set to herald an exciting new phase for the band. The album sees Uriah Heep back to their very best and is set to become a future classic - sure to please their dedicated worldwide fan base and fans of progressive rock in general. Recorded in 2007 the album was produced by Mike Paxman (Status Quo, Judie Tzuke). In the words of Mick Box, "We are delighted to be reunited with a major label in Universal music. ’Wake The Sleeper’ is an album we are incredibly proud of, and one that we hope the fans will see as one of Uriah Heep’s best. We can’t wait to get back out on the road to showcase the new songs."
The live arena has been vital to the longevity of Uriah Heep. So in addition to album sales of over 30 million worldwide the band have toured in 52 countries and established themselves as consummate live performers. The band has a series of impressive firsts including being the first British rock band to play Russia in December 1987.
This is the band’s first album without their long-standing drummer, Lee Kerslake who sadly had to leave the band due to ill health in January 2007. Filling the drum stool for the very first time is the hugely well respected Russell Gilbrook (Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath), Van Morrison, John Farnham and Lonnie Donnegan).
Current band line up is Mick Box – Guitar, Vocals Trevor Bolder – Bass, Vocals Phil Lanzon – Keyboards, Vocals Bernie Shaw - Lead Vocals and Russell Gilbrook – Drums, Vocals
Full album tracklisting as follows: 1 Wake The Sleeper 2 Overload 3 Tears Of the World 4 Light Of A Thousand Stars 5 Heavens Rain 6 Book Of Lies 7 What Kind Of God 8 Ghost Of The Ocean 9 Angels Walk With You 10 Shadow 11 War Child
Uriah Heep’s progressive heavy metal made the British band one of the most popular hard rock groups of the early ’70s. Formed by guitarist Mick Box and vocalist David Byron in the late ’60s, Uriah Heep released their debut album "Very ’eavy... Very ’umble" in 1970. Since then the band have released 20 studio albums and played to millions of fans across the globe. Uriah Heep remain one of British rock’s most consistent and long standing acts with album sales of over 30 million worldwide. "Wake The Sleeper" will be Uriah Heep’s 21st studio album.
Wake The Sleeper will also be released on Vinyl as a 12" Limited Edition in a stunning gatefold sleeve.

CD REVIEW-SEVEN MOONS by JACK BRUCE & ROBIN TROWER
Current mood: argumentative
Category: Music

Jack Bruce is 1/3 of the original power trio "Cream", he also has done by far, the best solo work of his former mand mates, Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker. Robin Trower joined Procol Harum just after the recording of but before the release of "A Whiter Shade of Pale" and remained in the band during their heyday. He then went solo and was billed as one of the countless "Next" Jimi Hendrix. Robin recorded some great hard blues rock in the 70's, and some music with a softer touch in the 80's. Between that, Robin recorded 2 fine albums with Jack Bruce. Now, almost 25 years later they return with Gary Husband on drums. Their first 2 albums were fine recordings but, you could tell they were recorded in the 80's. This new one "Seven Moons", you'd swear was recorded in the first half of the 70's, IT'S THAT GOOD...START TO FINISH.. It will be released March 3rd, be good to yourself and get it now. Modern bands like Jet aren't bad, they try to be "throwbacks" but why waste your money on watered down copies when the real things are still kickin' ass?

THE ULTIMATE VALENTINE
Category: Romance and Relationships
THE ULTIMATE VALENTINE
This week happy couples around the country will exchange tokens of love and affection in celebration of Valentine's Day. If this week has put you in the mood for a little romance, we recommend you take a look at what has to be the most charming little book in the Bible.
The book of Ruth is often studied (even in secular colleges) as a masterpiece in miniature for its romantic elegance and literary value - and its charming glimpse into life in ancient Israel. It is a classic love story of loyalty and devotion, and yet it also contains some surprising insights that go far beyond the historical narrative itself.
One of the principal characters is Naomi, a Bethlehemite, who, because of a famine, migrates with her husband and her two sons to distant Moab. The two sons take Moabite women for wives. During the ten years that follow, Naomi's husband and both her two sons pass away, leaving her destitute.
Upon hearing that things have turned for the better in her native Bethlehem, Naomi decides to return home. She encourages the two young girls to make new lives for themselves among their own people. However, Ruth refuses, insists upon remaining with Naomi. Her declaration of loyalty to Naomi is one of the most elegant and well-known passages in the Holy Scriptures:
"Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God: Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me."
Ruth's story yields an incredible overview of God's plan of redemption. Her persistent and devoted commitment to her mother-in-law leads to a dramatic romance, a prophecy of the coming King, and her being included in the family tree of the Messiah.
Ruth is one of the most significant books in the Old Testament for the Church. And it's interesting that the book traditionally is read by rabbis on the Feast of Pentecost, when the Church was born. It explains, like no other book in the Scripture, the role and mission of the Kinsman Redeemer. This book is an essential prerequisite to understanding the book of Revelation. Before you study Revelation 5, you need to understand the book of Ruth.
This little book is more than a love story between Ruth and Boaz, it is a foreshadowing of another love story, the greatest story ever told. The ultimate "valentine" was written in blood on a wooden cross, erected in Judea two thousand years ago.

CD REVIEW-Kush: Presents...Snow White and The Eight Straights
Current mood: blissful
Category: Music
Kush: Presents...Snow White and The Eight Straights
Aztec Music has done it again...Kush was led by Jeff Duff, and in spite of his double gated appearance he's reall "straight" (praise God).
The lp was released some 35 years ago and stands today (thanks to Aztec Music) as one of Australia's all time rock releases. The band was 2nd to none with it's closest sounding over-seas rivals, Blood Sweat & Tears and early Chicago. Although Jeff Duff had a Limp-wristed look, his powerful/husky vocals would make David Clayton-Thomas stand up and take notice. This reissue by one of the world's top 3 record labels today doubles the original tracks from 8 to 16 with outstanding bonus cuts (not just so-so unreleased filler), and a 24 page booklet.
Track Listing: 1. Wait Overture 2. Easy Street 3. ALL Right In The City 4. McArthur Park 5. Wait 6. Satanic Deity 7. Christopher John Suite featuring: a) Birth b) Life c) Death d) Infinity 8. Klue
Bonus Tracks – Singles 1973 9. Peter Gunn 10. The Sky Is Falling 11. Can't You Hear Me Calling 12. Wait (Original Single Version) Bonus Tracks – Live 1974 13. Introduction 14. Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is? 15. Beginnings 16. Interview with Jeff Duff
Pound for pound no country in the world ever put out as much quality rock in the early 70's as did Australia. The sad thing about it is, with the countries small population(in most cases is a good thing) bands like this and many others had short lifespans. There were only so many places to tour, and even if a band had an album that sold well (maybe about 15,000), that was hardly enough to live on. In America, bands that no one ever heard of would make album after album and make a good living on the road, not so here. One of the greatest bands I ever heard "Healing Force" never got to make an album. But, what was made and considered "missing in action" one by one is being hunted down, remastered and reissued by Aztec music. Those of you in Australia and elsewhere, do your ears a favor, visit http://www.aztecmusic.net/ & www.myspace.com/aztecmusic and get yourself some of the world's best rock ever!!!
