Moving right along

Wow, I thought I had posted a blog since May but I guess not. So working on the house... yes. I finally got off my ass and got my craft room together. The room itself still needs to have flooring put in, sub-floor for now and the trim isn't complete. I couldn't take it any longer and could not get to my craft stuff to start any projects, so I decided to get the room setup and move it when I had to.
I did get the new drafting table and now have two. I will use the smaller one for painting items while I use the larger one for sculpting, etc. I also found a wood bookshelf on Craigslist, heavy duty all wood and already painted black, that was perfect for all my paints and whatnots. I took a few pics, you can see them here:

The Skullery

I have so many ideas for Halloween that I have had to slow myself down. My main problem is money and having no one that is as enthusiastic as I am over getting them created. My family is pleased with what I do but they don't have the same frenzied drive. The only thing I really need help with is the cemetery fence and the mausoleum front I want to build for the front door at my brothers house.

I really need to find a sugar daddy that is willing to help me build the stuff I want and to help throw money at it!! Heh!
Preresiquits:

* Must have a morbid sense of humor, without having morbid tendencies (I would really be pissed if I woke up with a knife sticking out of my chest!)
* Must love Halloween over all other holidays and not mind seeing Halloween decorations all over the house.
* Must have a strong desire to build me a 3 car garage and not mind when the cars can't be parked in it.
* Must be able to build things from wood, PVC, cement, joint compound, latex, cheesecloth, papermache, to name a few or must have a strong desire to learn.
* Being able to paint... a plus
* Must have knowledge of working with electricity, certified electrician a plus.
* Welding ability gives you some serious brownie points!
* Must be independent but want to spend as much time with me as possible without being controlling about it and understand when I'm in the craftroom, unless I ask for assitance, thats my 'Me' time.

Not much to ask for huh? Why does it sound like I need to find a rich General Contractor? Heh!

Alright... I'm off to work getting the living room back together, now that all of my craft stuff isn't stuffed into the entry way!

Working on the house

Well we get a three day weekend and one of them is about half over. I decided to work on getting the kitchen and living room back together, at least as much as I could, from the remodel we are doing. I can't wait for all of this to be done!

This rain is making me go a bit slow though, I'm tending towards lazy instead of productive.
I'm buying another drafting table. I already have one small one that is a bit flimsy, I got it at the auction for 15 bucks so I couldn't beat the price. The new one is a very large wooden architecture's style drafting desk and roughly 6 feet long by 3-4 feet deep, and stands about 3 feet high. The whole thing is wood so dad and I are going to paint it black. It will go awesome in the new craft room up against my blood red wall. If we find that its way to big then I can turn around and sell it for $150, which would be quite the deal since I'm getting it for only $20.
I need to light a fire under the fam and myself to get this room done so I can get my crafts set back up, let alone get my living room and kitchen back. I should have been working on props by no later than March, and here it is almost June. I'm going to have a lot to do!! Ugh.

Well enough with the chittering, I need to run to the store.

Yappity Yap...

Wow, its been awhile since I have posted. I see the last post I made was about Deegle. He is doing good actually. He was attacked by a ferocious moose, that actually knocked him unconscious, can you imagine... Tiny 5 pound Min Pin taking on a 1/2 ton moose??!! I'm not sure who Deegle would say the winner was, I imagine in his little unconscious brain he was ripping the moose to shreds and loandbehold when he wakes up the moose is no where to be seen, confirming the little dudes hallucinations of grandeur. He is also now neutered,  minus a few retained baby teeth and still holding the hearts of his owners (by way of having them wrapped around his paw).

As for me, no moose attacks, I lost my baby teeth oodles of moons ago, ummmm don't have a 'thingy' to neuter and the last time a wrapped a paw I was a Vet Tech.

The house remodel is coming along but rather slowly. I need to take some days off work to do stuff around the house, but... work is hectic and I really can't be away right now, so it has to wait.  I really don't want to wait on the getting my craft room setup, I have sooooo many ideas that I can't keep them straight. My brain jumps from idea to idea so quickly that things get buried. I'm surprised I'm not followed by a breadcrumb trail of craft ideas. The trail would look something like... sculpted witch and flying monkeys, laying next to a red and cream mottled painting laying after a stuffed zombie doll being clutched by a 4 foot doll dead doll wearing a black velvet dress. Craziness... just craziness.

So other updates would be: The kids are doing fabulous... Bear is awesomely bear, Smokey would be nothing other than her Alpha Smokey self and then there is Whisper... she is the Princess Von Woo.
Spring being around the corner is driving me insane. We had snow the other day and its like the ultimate tease!! We had dead grass showing and BAM...snow covers it up. I keep watching my Willow tree in the back and it has been blooming for about a month...poor thing is going to get confused and say 'to hell with it'.
I am loving the longer days though. Its just past dusk out and its 9:50pm. Light is gooooood. Hermit need to wake up, do stuff, grunt.

Ok, thats about enough for now. I'm sleepy and the dogs are yank'n on me sleeve to go to bed, really... they do.

Deegle - the crazy min pin puppy **updated**

So I got another dog, no big surprise to the people that know me, even though they still shake their heads in disbelief.

To hasty? Maybe, but we will see how he works out. He is a year old and still very much a puppy. He came from San Diego, where a co-workers daughter rescued him and another terrier. His name was Leroy but he didn't answer to it. On a whim I called him Diego and it ended up being Deegle (if you say Diego really fast and semi-slurred you will see where I got it), which he comes running to (when he isn't busy trying to mount Whisper).
I guess he was kept outside with two other dogs all the time so he doesn't know that humans are the ones you need to listen to, plus he isn't house trained.
He is a love though and I have handled him in many different ways to try to promote a bad response and don't get one. He tolerated the bath and toe nail trim with a small amount of wiggling.

I will post a picture of him with my new, awesome!, digital camera I got for Christmas. Its an Olympus Evolt 500 digital SLR, which they also got me two different lenses to go with it.

I got him yesterday so I'm a smidge tired today. He slept with Whisper, Bear and I and did ok. Even though every time Whisper moved he wanted to go be next to her. Needless to say, she didn't allow it to happen. At least he is smart enough to know that when she is growling and showing teeth, not to push it. Heh,  you men can forget that at times!

I've gotta get back to work and try to wake up!

**Update**
I decided he had to go. Whisper wanted to eat him. Of course all he wanted to do was mount her and she decided that that was cause for puppy murder.  Thats my girl!!!
She didn't hurt him and was only in the low growl/teeth showing stage but I could see it was going to escalate.

All 3 dogs seemed to breath a sigh of relief after he was gone. I think they are just to old for puppy energy, even though Bear runs around like banshee when he is in play mode.

End of upate... carry on.

Me Griddy Bear

Well, its been awhile since I have posted. I'm not on the computer much anymore. I'm too busy at work and when I get home I just don't seem to gravitate towards it anymore. I do miss my online friends but I tend to enjoy my own company so much I seem an introvert.
What has pushed me to the blog? Grief really. I found out about a week and half ago that my Grizzley had lung cancer. He had been coughing for sometime but it came and went, so we assumed it was his enlarged heart and collapsing trachea. I took him in when he started coughing up blood and not getting better.  The Xrays proved he had a lung tumor, Primary lung carcinoma to be exact.
Since he was 16 years old I didn't even opt for surgery, especially with his heart condition.
You may have noticed I have used the past tense about him. I took him in this morning and put him to sleep.
He was doing much better on the meds we put him on, which weren't for curing him, only for comfort. He had almost stopped coughing and was playing with Lil' Bear again. Last night he started sounding croopy when he coughed and this morning he was coughing up blood again and and a bunch of fluid. He was also starting to hide and when I would go up to him he would just put his head against me and not move.
He told me it was time. So off to the family vacation he went. He will meet up with his dad, sister, Bug and Quest.

When my time comes I'm going to have a friggin zoo at my side! Not a complaint, not even in the least. I'm not even close to being ready to jump off into the great beyond but I can't wait to see them all again.

Until then... love ya my Lil' handsome man, play hard.

Merry Thanksgiving!

So here it is Thanksgiving Day. Most people ask each other, 'what are you thankful for?' I've never been the touchy feely type to think about it, much less play along with the question. Here is the but... I have thought about it. The one thing that I keep coming back to being thankful for is my family. My parents rock, period. I have never truly wanted for anything, and if I did I knew it was because it just wasn't affordable or it wasn't something I 'needed' to keep me alive.  I was spoiled as a child and have still been spoiled as an adult. The only difference is that what once was the new bike is now the new dishwasher.
So with that said... the fam rocks.

On to other news.... I haven't gotten any pictures from Halloween just yet. I need to check out the parents camera and see if they got any good shots. I was too busy and tired that night to even think about going out and getting pictures. Besides it was cold and windy!
I do have some ideas, 'some' who am I kidding, I have a ton of ideas for more Halloween stuff for my brothers house. I need to get started but I have one thing holding me back... getting my craft room finished so I can get going on it. I'm going to hit up those wonderful parents to help me on the painting, maybe this weekend.

And other news... We have started looking for property in the south. We want to move to a warmer climate and the parents want to go to a state that is retirement $$$ friendly. Of course I will move with them. I would never be able to afford it on my own, especially being single, and I want to stay in the same state as them. None of us are getting any younger so ya never know what emergency may pop up. Mom also wants to be closer to her sister that lives in Alabama so living in the states would put us that much closer.
Besides that, I'm sick of the prices up here, which would include the shipping. I can't get some of the products I want to use for doing sculpture because it costs so much in shipping. I'm really looking forward to moving on many different levels but the one thing that makes me pause is Mike. I wish I could hog tie him and take him with me but I know he wouldn't want to be away from his family (extended and actual).

Well I need to hit the shower so I can get over to the parental units house. The kid has a hockey game today at 1ish, then its chow time!!

So it goes...

Things are moving on with the Halloween stuff. I have Morimals head and hands done, and his body is in a semi-done state. I don't know why I'm draggin my feet on this. I tend to do this when I get into the area of stuff that intimates me... which in his case is the finished product. I'm so friggin hard on myself, damn perfectionist minions biting at my heels again :::kicks one and sends it flying::: (Speaking of minions, I plan to bring them to paper mache life this winter.)

I was going to make a Pumpkin rot guy but I don't have the time. What is a Pumpkin rot guy you ask? This is a Pumpkin rot guy.

Instead I'm making The Sisters, which are 3 very haggish witches. I have the base heads done for them, just needing to put a layer of latex over the top. The hands should be quick and easy. I'm also making a cauldron for them, which will be roughly the size of a 65cm exercise ball. I'm covering 3/4 of it with mache and joint compound, removing the ball by deflatting it, then adding feet and handles to the cauldron. I will take pictures.

I need to make one more character to stand at my front door (telling people to go to my brothers house) and I think I will make a small female child in the style of a sickly porcelain doll. I got the idea from Krough over at Grimvisions (see the doll here), he is my hero along with Deadspider over at Aranamuerta. They both create some seriously awesome stuff. Oh, I can't forget Rot at PumpkinRot!

Now go on with your bad selfs and check out the websites.

Mori update

Well Mori's head is ready to paint and both of his hands will be fininished either tonight or tomorrow night. I have one done and have to finish up detail on the other, then paint both.

The body should be easy to throw together. Just PVC, some body build up and cloths. I will need to make his neck once I get his position right with the body. But that should be easy as well.

I have ideas for some little minion demons for either the Witch I'm going to build or for just around the graveyard area, I already have the clay build of their head that I'm going to use. They will only be about 2 feet tall and will have wings.

I also have to get going on the Pumpkin Rot thing I'm making. Lots to do, so little time not being at work!!! Work sure does get in the way of my creative process...ahem. I guess without work I wouldn't be able to afford my creative process. Heh!

Busy busy but fun fun.

Added more prop pics

I've been working on props all weekend. I don't feel like I'm getting anywhere, mainly because I have to wait for the layers of mache to dry for 24 hours before I move on to the next layer. Also I hand made the teeth and eyes on the Grave Keeper so they took a day to form and paint.

I still have to add the skin layer of mache to the Keeper. I think I'm going to name him Morimal but I need a last name that isn't corny.
I also got the base form of his hands done and started on the pumpkin head I'm making for the 7-8 foot tall pumpkin root thing I'm doing. Not sure what his name is yet either.

I have so many thing I want to do but not enough arms to do them all, heh. Gotta watch out for that ADD creation monster to hit or all I will be doing is chasing my own tail instead.

I'm off to attempt to sleep

Posting pics

I've started posting pics of the Halloween props I'm working on. When I get a minute I will post some links to the site's I go to for prop ideas.

Right now I'm trying to work on my ammonia high...lol. Gotta love carpet latex!! Its cheaper than regular latex, especially for props, but its just as smelly as regular latex!!!

Weeeeeeeeeeee..... spin spin spin.

I'm off to get a snack...
