Family Dollar presents the Kickoff to Writing Scholarship
The CLF will begin with the "Kickoff to Writing" program, which gets kids to create their own original comic book or short story. The "Kickoff to Writing" program is designed for children of all ages. Just have your child write a story in which they choose a hero (teacher, parent, or other role model) to save the world by using words instead of magic powers. The first 100 kids to submit the application (it's FREE) and comic book or short story will be invited to the festival. Each student will be awarded, and one will win the Stephanie Mills Scholarship. The Love and Football tour: Starring authors AlTonya Washington and Cheris Hodges
Romance authors AlTonya Washington and Cheris Hodges are putting passion on the gridiron this summer. Both authors are showing another side of the strong and sexy men who run and score touch downs on the field in their newest novels. AlTonya brings "Rival's Desire" the story of two stars, one a sultry singer and the other a sexy football player, who are thrust together to run their grandmothers' business. Cheris and AlTonya, both South Carolina natives now living in the Charlotte, NC area, thought, "Since great minds think alike, let's hit the road together."
