Cheney Reynolds made one decision that changed the course of her entire life.  Years after having her heart broken, losing a part of soul, severing contact with her family, Cheney moves back to Durham.  She lives her days much like a recluse until meeting Grandma BB (the nosy next door neighbor) and Parke (the handsome Good Samaritan).  The two of them have a way of bringing out her deepest emotions – both good and bad.  At the same time, God turns her heart towards forgiveness and fills her spirit with love.

Simmons produces a TKO with her debut novel.  She takes the reader through several rounds with strong right hooks – the intense character development will keep you totally engrossed in the novel.  Simmons delivers a couple of stomach punches – the powerful plot line will remind you of the love that God has for you.  While the constant head shots - Black history, Christian principles and forgiveness – make for an outstanding read that you will knock out in one setting.

Be ready to get your laugh on with this one.  Grandmama is out of control – speaking her mind and telling the truth.  Older people can get away with speaking their mind and daring you to say something back – because you have to respect your elders' right?  The description of the dinner and conversations with crazy family reminds you of the last get together.  At most family gatherings, that one relative shows up and all hell breaks loose.  Well, Grandmama lets us know that time does not heal all wounds and all sins can't be forgiven.

Family Reunion is a realistic yet comedic look into the African American family.  McClain-Watson has written a hilarious short story that will make for interesting conversation at the next family dinner.  Read it on your next coffee break but be ready to laugh until you cry.

My Secrets Your Lies

A Million Thoughts Publishing

Alternative Erotic

4 Stars

This book is for the mature reader that is ready to read serious love-making scenes.  Sand may have been born female but her mind, body and gestures scream male.  Sand was disowned by her family and enjoys being mistaken for a man.  Sand met Rene and fell head over heels in love, until making some quick money changes things.

Rene has lived her life on the run – running from one foster home to another trying to escape being violated.  When she met Sand things were different, she felt loved and wanted.  It would take years for Rene to realize that she needed more – she wanted passion, undivided attention, and most of all the perfect American family.  Sand and Rene have too many secrets to stay on top of all the lies they have told.  Which lies will come to haunt them?

N'Tyse blasts onto the scene with this unique story and may have started a new genre…alternative erotic – a mixture of lesbian love, sensual intimacy and romantic suspense.  The plot is character driven and the action comes to life near the middle of the book.  Reading from two different perspectives can make it difficult to keep up with the action.  You may need to take notes of the lies as the stuff hits the fan.  By the end of the book, you will be on the edge of your seat trying to figure out who can out lie who.  There are several unanswered questions that hopefully will be answered in the sequel.

N'Tyse can be contacted at www.myspace.com/ntyse.

Pastor Willie Green has devoted his life to leading Harvest Baptist Church.  The members have become accustomed to his attentive nurturing and fierce love of God.  So it stands to reason that many of them are unsettled when Pastor Green marries Vanessa Morton after a 10-month courtship.  See Vanessa is the dedicated and charismatic pastor of Mt. Pleasant Baptist church and her contemporary way of preaching the Gospel doesn't set well with the traditional customs of Harvest Baptist.  When the Green's return from their honeymoon they announce that their churches will unite which ignites division in not only the congregations but their new happy marriage.

Soon and Very Soon is a story of love and faith.  The character development is off the chain, you will feel part of the Green household and see exactly what pastors do after service.  While the supporting characters add realism to the story, especially Deacon Charley and Sister Keisha as we know how church folks and relatives can act up.  Jackson pays particular attention to describing scenes, applying scriptures, encouraging readers through the use of mini sermons while adding a touch of suspense between the lines.  Soon and Very Soon is a quick read that will make you laugh, stand up and say AMEN and help you realize that LOVE conquers all.  The ending is screaming for a sequel as Deacon Charley is still up to no good.

BLACK BUSINESS COACH: ARE YOU READY TO BE "GOOGLED"?

By Dante Lee

www.BlackBusinessCo ach.com

Every single day, millions and millions of people use search engines to find what they are looking for. It is very likely that at some point or another, someone will be searching for information about you.

Being researched or "googled" can be a very good thing or a very bad thing. It all depends on what comes up when your name is typed in. Fortunately, you do have some control over the matter.

Here are some things you can do:

1) Regularly send out press releases. Search engines love press releases and news content. Whenever you send out a PR, it will usually be indexed right away from the distribution company itself and any online news outlet that publishes it. PRweb.com and BlackPR.com (one of my services) are great tools for this.

2) Get listed in online directories. Search engines will generally give content from business directories a higher ranking. This is because information from such sources are viewed as "official". Therefore, listing your bio and/or company description on these sites can help to authenticate what's "official" about you. Sites like Business.com, SalesVantage. com, and BlackExperts. com (another one of my services) are perfect examples.

3) Make sure your web site is search engine friendly. If you "google" your company's name, your company's web site should come up first. If it doesn't, you need to optimize your web site so that search engines are able to crawl through the content. (see my blog about SEO)

4) Be careful about Myspace/BlackPlanet blogs. Remember that if someone "googles" you, everything will come up - everything. So, if you have a Myspace page with pictures of you acting a fool - you may want to delete it or make it a private blog. You don't need a potential client to change their mind about your company, because they stumbled upon your personal blog.

5 Stars

Do you want your life to be different?  All you have to do is command your mind to dream and ask God for guidance.  We are reminded in Mark 10:27…that all things are possible through Jesus.  Stay focused on God, declare and decree prospectively the life He has intended for you.  Commanding Your Morning also discusses the creative power of spoken words, how to change your destiny, the importance of ordering your day and how to become an overnight success.  Trimm uses biblical examples to provide a new way of focusing your daily walk and reasons to change the words that flow from your mouth and thoughts that form in your mind.

Trimm uses plain language grounded in the Word to assist readers in "unleashing the power of God in your life".  Commanding Your Morning is firmly rooted in the Word and gives references throughout for you to further investigate.  The book ends with over 20 pages of prayers, devotions, declarations and decrees that will open your heart to new understanding of the power of God's word.  Do yourself a favor – buy, read, and put the ideas discussed in this book to practice TODAY!
