REMIX HOTEL NYC JUNE 27-29!!! Registration open today/panels announced!
It's time for another Remix Hotel event. We're back in NYC!
SAE New York | Herald Square 1-8 p.m. | 1-6 p.m. Sun.
And here are the panels! Panelists, sponsors and much more to be announced shortly!
Go to http://www.remixhotel.com for all the details.
FRIDAY, JUNE 27 iStandard Presents: The New Producer Panel (2:30 p.m.) Up-and-coming producers who have recently scored their first notable major-label placements discuss how they obtained these placements, the importance of team and relationships, and marketing tactics. The panel will also address industry pitfalls to look out for while navigating the music industry.
Shocklee Innertainment Presents: The Cookie Cutter Approach Is Dead—Future Production (4 p.m.) Producers! The time has come for you to let go of the past and stop producing clones. Forget what the mainstream considers the "norm." This panel of music makers will explain how they are developing future music and how you can, too.
Remix Magazine Presents: Audio Fidelity—The Debate (5:30 p.m.) Music engineers discuss the importance of audio resolution in light of MP3 domination, including what digital setup is needed to get a competitive sound and how to best inject analog flavor into your signal path.
SATURDAY, JUNE 28 iStandard Presents: A&R in a New Era (2:30 p.m.) New and seasoned record-label A&R executives, as well as artists working outside the traditional label model, discuss how the digital revolution has challenged or helped their position. The panel will also cover A&R project responsibilities; the lack of artist development within labels; and what the panelists personally look for in regard to talent, buzz and overall marketability.
Shocklee Innertainment Presents: The 2008 Software Review (4 p.m.) You read the reviews online, check it out at the local music stores and talk shop with your peers. Keeping up with all of the audio software releases and understanding what works for you is a never-ending process. This panel of pros will give you real-deal opinions and reviews of what's out there.
Remix Magazine Presents: The Balancing Act (5:30 p.m.) Producers dispute the virtues of making music as art versus commerce. How can producers balance working on projects with commercial aspirations as opposed to those with musical integrity without "selling out"? Top-flight producers from various genres explain how they do it.
SUNDAY, JUNE 29 Remix Magazine Presents: Industry Survival Guide (2:30 p.m.) Music-industry experts hold a state-of-the-union roundtable on the changing model for the music business and how artists can benefit from it. Topics include 360 deals, digital distribution, licensing, touring and promotion for a new era.
Shocklee Innertainment Presents: Independents Day—From Home Office to Corner Office (4 p.m.) More people than ever before are going the entrepreneurial route and starting their own business but there is more to operating your own business than printing up business cards and acting like you know what's up. Our panel will discuss ways you can develop your business skills and share tips on how to run a successful independent business.

Remix Hotel Atlanta just over a month away!
Hey all,
It's just over a month until Remix Hotel Atlanta, Sept. 20-22. Check out http://remixhotel.com for details. The panelists are rolling in for the next installment of Hank Shocklee–hosted panels, including LRoc, The Runners, DJ Scorpio, DJ Don Cannon and Chuck Woo. Got a question for keynote speaker Scott Storch? Send it to remixeditorial@remixmag.com, and we may ask Scott your question during a Q&A at the Remix Hotel. That's just the beginning. Click here for complete details!
We've got the experts. You've got the beats. Now play 'em for the pros at RHATL. Bring your demos and tracks to Remix Hotel, and the pros will give you their feedback during the "Shocklee Innertainment Beatology 101" and "Please Listen to My Demo" panels. If you want to get tips straight from the pros, here's what we want you to do: 1. Show up one hour prior to the start of the panel for interactive panel registration. 2. At this registration, submit one nonreturnable CD (no exceptions), which will have only the track you want critiqued on it. 3. Once you've registered for the panel and submitted your CD, you will receive a raffle ticket. During the panel, numbers will be called at random. If your number is called, we will have your track cued up for the panel to critique.
To register for Remix Hotel Atlanta, go here. See you in the ATL!
xoxo, Remix
