Review of our Las Vegas Show
So check it out, we went out to Vegas to play some shows last year. We met up with some of our favorite fans from North Carolina who came out just to see us. One of them just happened to write reviews for Alternative World Fanzine. We just found out about the review from our good friend Mel. So here it is...

I already know what you are thinking: Doesn't this chic write reviews about bands in North Carolina? To answer your question: Yes I do! But I had to write about a phenomenal band that I saw while on vacation in Las Vegas. That band was RESOLVE TO BURN.
I have known these guys for some time now. They are making a buzz on myspace and that happens to be where I found them. I know what you are thinking, there are millions of bands on myspace, many suck (agreed) but I always listen in when a band friend requests me. Honestly, from the first song I heard on their page, Eyes of the Storm, I was hooked! The heart felt melodies sung by Aaron Smith (VOXXMANN) will go straight to your soul. His voice is stunning!!! And as if Aaron's vocals weren't enough, when you throw in the remarkable talents of S.E.V.E.R. on lead guitar, the wicked D. Wallace on bass, the unique sound of Nate Dodge on guitar, and the "bang up" talent of Thommy Jacobs on drums you have yourself a band to remember.
So yeah, needless to say, I was very anxious about this show. I had been looking forward to it for over 5 months. So we drove on over to the Emergency Room Lounge in Las Vegas, NV. There were 2 other bands on the bill that night, which I did not get a chance to hear. I was there to see Resolve to Burn!
The band took the stage, and from that first strum of the guitar and beat on the drum, my blood started pumping! I knew this was going to be an amazing show. The band started off with a few new songs, trying them out on the crowd. They went over very well. Then Aaron and the boys started in on an impressive cover of Hey Man, Nice Shot by Filter. OH MY GOD! This little twist on that amazing song would have impressed Richard Patrick himself!!! It was unbelievable and unreal. The crowd was singing along, loving the cover. Aaron was a fantastic performer, involving the crowd, getting everyone rowdy.
The band then played my favorite song, Eyes of the Storm. To hear this song live was something I had always wanted, and here my dreams were coming true. The song blew me away! It was more than I had expected. Then, as if that weren't enough, they went into Crutch. Let me tell you, I have seen a lot of bands play some good to great songs, but this one is top notch. S.E.V.E.R. has an outstanding guitar solo in the middle of this song. It definitely show cases his talents. His fingers were flying through those chords with such fervor. What made it even better was that he uses a Light Pick (check it out at www.thelightpick.com. It made the strumming of the strings look mystical and magical. I was so impressed with his guitar talents that I forgot to even pay attention to the rest of the song afterwards!
The band as a whole is amazing, totally mind blowing. Nate Dodge is the newest member of R2B. He has fit in pretty well, picked up their music well, and seemed to be comfortable on stage, like that's where he belonged. D Wallace has also stepped in to play bass, coming from background of recording engineer and rock producer. In my opinion, he was the missing link for this band. He is quite a performer, making funnies and always having a kick ass time. And Thommy, he was really under the lights the whole night (literally), making him look like the attention grabber. The man has outstanding talents on the drums, no denying that. He was definitely worth bringing out in the light!
I believe in these guys with all my heart. I am so glad they didn't let me down. What they really did was impress me more and make me an even bigger fan of theirs. This is a band that I am going to follow forever!!!
Do you want to know how to find this crazy band? They are on myspace at www.myspace.com/resolvetoburn. PLEASE do yourself a favor and check out their page, you will be so glad you did. Not too often do you run across a band on myspace that seems to stick with you in your mind, your subconscious. And if you live anywhere on the west coast, you better watch out for these guys. It will be one of the best shows you will experience. Oh, and after taking a visit to their myspace and hearing Face2Face, tell me you won't be singing: What part of Nooooo….(with some melody of course) over and over in your head. It's addictive, there's no doubt about it!!! This is the baddest, hottest, undiscovered band on myspace!

A Beautiful Design Pre-Release

Friends!! In case you are wondering, Resolve to Burn is alive and well. We have been undergoing some major changes in the last few months and had to take a step back in order to re-invent ourselves once again. So we have been locked up in the studio writing and recording new material for the upcoming self titled EP to be release early in 2009, but maybe sooner. No promises. ;-)
To give you an example of what is to come we have posted an unmastered version of "A Beautiful Design." As you can see, our direction as changed slightly, and we are all very excited about it! Hope you are too!
You may also have noticed synth or keyboards in the mix. That is part of our new direction. So you can expect more where that came from.
What about shows? We plan on getting back on stage in the fall. But we are hoping to find a second guitarist first. If you are him or her, or you know someone qualified and interested, please let us know!

R2B-98 Rock’s Artist of the Month-Feb 2008

Hey everybody! Just wanted to let you know that we are the 98 Rock Artist of the month for February, and tell you a little about it. So basically, every Sunday from 10-11pm, 98 Plays their Local Licks Show, which showcases some of the up and coming local sacramento bands. The show highlights one special band each month, and we are it for February!
We've been chilin in the studio with Mark Gilmore and having a great time listening to our fellow local bands, drinkin beer, and co-hosting the show with him, and spinning some of our material off of "Process of Elimination".
We'll be co-hosting a special two-hour edition this Sunday the 24th from 9-11 pm Pacific Standard Time, and you'll get the chance to hear us talk about the making of "Process of Elimination", all our band drama, our up and coming events, and most importantly get to hear quite a few of the tunes off the album!

The New Album-Process of Elimination

Hey guys! So as you may have noticed we are starting to promote our new album. We are stoked about how it is turning out, and cant wait to show you some of it via myspace, and of course by getting the album up on shelves, in our online store, itunes, and all that good stuff! Its been slow going out at J Street because of scheduling, but mostly because we are really taking our time on giving you the best we have to offer. Dan Wallace has been a big part of that, in that he is an amazing producer and as picky as we are! We have cut a lot of songs, some you know, and some you dont! But the end result is a ten song album with some big surprises on it! We'll also be releasing a five song EP as well, with some of our favorites.
We'll be finishing up vocals in the next couple weeks and be on to mixing and mastering. So we plan on posting some songs here in the weeks to come! So what does the album sound like? You will only recognize three songs. Crutch, Eyes of the Storm, and The Last Laugh, which are taking on a whole new light. The rest of the album is much like those three songs in the sense that no song sounds alike and each song has a very different flavor, which we feel keeps it very intersting from beginning to end. Some songs are heavier than anything we have written and some are lighter. You will even hear some piano and accoustic guitars from time to time!
We dont know the exact date of release, but it will be in September! We also have a whole bunch of other big news, but we cant release that info until after we get the green light, so hang tight! Thanks again for all your support!

RESOLVE TO BURN UPDATE

Ok, so here we are again. Just wanted to give all of you burners an update on the band. Here ya go:
If you pay any attention to our profile, you'll see that our shows are dwindling down. And you'll notice we're in the studio (finally). Thommy just finished tracking drums and he did an outstanding job! We're not adding shows as of yet for three reasons. Number one, we want to devote our full attention to recording the best album we can. Number two, we're losing our bassist D. Wallace and trying out some other bassists. And number three, S.E.V.E.R. is having major shoulder surgery middle of next month. Quit crashing motorcycles SEV! So the break is going to be all positive. We're finishing the album, getting a new bassist and fixing our lead guitarist. Once the album is finished, we'll be hittin' stages all over! New merch is coming soon as well. The Departure

Resolve to Burn was built on the concept of brotherhood first. We have been blessed with the fact that we have five members that truely love one another in the most non-homosexual of ways...not that there is anything wrong with that, well that is, except for D...HAHA. Just kidding bro! When D. climbed on board of our train (OK get your mind out of the gutter now) this year, it was an exciting day! We had completed the brotherhood. Unfortunately, D. has had a change of heart, and has decided to follow his real dream, which is that of being an engineer/producer. He is a lot better at that anyway...HAHA...that's was for quitting DUUUUDE! Though we are glad...oops...I mean sad to see him go, we are excited for him, as we know that he is probably one of the best engineers/producers in the sac area, to say the least, and whatever makes him happy works for us.
That said, D. has given us notice that his last show will be the kennel club show on the June 9th. He is also being gracious enough, to help us complete our full length album, which will be released in July. Ther will be no down time for us because of this. We have already lined up his replacement. More news on who he is to come!
We just wanted to let everyone know that we will miss D. as a band mate, but not as a friend or associate, because he isn't going anywhere in that regard. We'll be planning something big for the kennel club show in honor of his departure, and what he has contibuted to this band. We expect all BURNERS to be there! If you do not make this show...
