Rhodes News *things they are a’changin*
You might notice that things are changing a bit. For example, the website is revamped (if you checked it recently) and emails are coming from danielwhittington.com.
That betokens some news on our part. Things are changing a bit in the Rhodes world. I (Daniel) am beginning to take some small steps southward into the LA area and working on some solo project stuff. Because of that, and the opportunities that need to be pursued in that direction, there's a good chance I'll end up in LA next year at some point.
This obviously effects Rhodes in that, not everyone can head off down south together. Effectively it means that Rhodes as it has been known is changing. At every opportunity we will continue to work on music together, but it will no longer be under the umbrella of the band "Rhodes".
So that everyone knows (and to prevent any misunderstandings), this is not the result of anything within the band nor is it a result of problems with band members. At this time in my life I've realized there are certain things I need to go after, and that alone necessitates the change.
With that being said, here are a few announcements.
Our last and final show (for the foreseeable future at least) will be at Downtown Brew on December 4th. We will be playing with Virgil Cane and Joe Koenig. The evening begins at 8:30pm, and we will take the stage around 10:30pm. We would love to see everyone there.
The website will be changed yet again in the next few months as the transition to solo music takes more steps forward.
The Rhodes songs are now available for free download on our myspace (www.myspace.com/rhodes), and in the future, I plan to start releasing the new songs on that same site for free download as well. We still have albums and T-shirts available through the website as well as at the show at Downtown Brew. When Rhodes does play you will also be able to find out about it through the website. The new website is www.danielwhittington.com although you'll still be able to reach it through www.rhodesaudio.com as well.
Feel free to shoot us an email if you have any thoughts, comments, or questions.
I'll leave with a note from Ryan Allshouse.
"Rhodes has been a great ride, seasoned with some great accomplishments. We have been able to make a great album on our own terms, play a huge show with Aerosmith and meet some great people along the way over the past few years. Most importantly, we have had a very successful band in that we all love each other - still. Rhodes is and will always be 4 friends, 2 countries, 1 band. We all are completely encouraging of Daniel's solo efforts and will continue to support him musically and as our good friend. Although this news may seem bleak, we see this as a positive move for Daniel and makes complete sense. Go make us proud D."
It's been a great ride so far, and we're looking forward to some amazing things still to come. If you have any comments or thoughts please comment on our guestbook on the band website.

www.rhodesaudio.com
Just so everyone knows.. myspace is NOT the best place to keep in touch with the happenings of the band. With all the things going on around us these days, it's much easier to update one thing consistently.
Our band website www.rhodesaudio.com will always have the most up to date information and the newest stuff!
Plus, if you sign up on our mailing list, you'll be the first to know about Rhodes news.
So come join us over there. It's much warmer, sunnier, and the friendlier ;-)

Rhodes and Aerosmith
We just got some pretty mind boggling news and wanted to pass it on as soon as we heard.

Due to having a few friends in great places, and a large helping of luck, we are going to be opening for AEROSMITH at the Mid State Fair.
That's right. On Wednesday, July 25th we will have the honor of performing on the same stage as great authors of such classics as Dream On, and Walk This Way.
I might even have to start using bandanas on my mic stand.
So there it is.

We are speechless.

Rhodes Backstage/Podcast
We're now starting the official Rhodes podcast. What can you expect? Acoustic versions of the album songs, previously unreleased songs in raw form, or maybe even the earlier versions of songs that eventually became "Half A Mind To Stay". Sound good? We sure hope so ;-)
So here's what you do. The new address for the podcast is:
www.rhodesbackstage.blogspot.com
On that blog you will find the track that you can download for free, a mini player that will allow you to listen to it without downloading it, and a small write-up on exactly what it is.
To download the song, click on the link that has "Rhodescast" in the title. On the page it takes you to click, "download file".
The first one is up there now, so go check it out! And please leave comments so we know that you were there!
The rhodescast is also officially on iTunes. It's impossible to find in a search since there's so much out there, but here's what you can do. Open iTunes, click on "advanced" and select "subscribe to podcast". Enter this URL:
http://www.gabcast.com/casts/10280/rss/rss.xml
That should update your iTunes and get it working!
