A Clown’s Prayer
Current mood: handsome
Category: Friends
I am not a religous person by any means. During the month of December I celebrate the holiday know as "retail." I read this prayer and remember I why I got into comedy into first place.
To make people laugh.
I just thought I would share it.
"As I stumble through this life, help me to create more laughter than tears, dispense more cheer than gloom, spread more cheer than despair. Never let me become so indifferent, that I will fail to see the wonders in the eyes of a child, or the twinkle in the eyes of the aged. Never let me forget that my total effort is to cheer people, make them happy, and forget momentarily, all the unpleasantness in their lives. And in my final moment, may I hear You whisper: "When you made My people smile, you made Me smile." -Anonymous-

Here Comes the Rain Again...
Current mood: refreshed
Category: Life
Lately I have been stressed out. I am getting ready to start a new job, and I have what seem to be a half a million projects starting/planning stages. Movies, comedy shows, yard sales! What the crap! Today I just took a step back to look at every thing. I realized that it is nothing to get in a fuss over. It will all get done when it is suppose too. So, in a snub to my busy life I took off my shoes and socks and played in the rain today. I passed people using umbrellas, rain coats, and even somepeople running for what seemed to be their very lives. What's the rush people? Where are you going in such a hurry? A little water isn't going to hurt you. You are not going to melt. Take your time. Take a deep breath. Let the sent of the rain fill your nose. Smile when you come to a puddle because you don't have to jump over it. It was such a nice day to be outside!

George Carlin and Me
Category: Life
When I was 6 years old I got my first taste of George Carlin's comedy from an HBO special that my dad was watching. The reason I so fondly remember this is due to the fact where I realized what I wanted to do with my life. One day after a hard day of kindergarten I brought home some of my school papers. They were less then stellar: All sad faces. Up till this point I had always wanted to be an inventor. My dad is going over my papers and he tells me "With grades like these you won't be an inventor." I was crushed. My six year old hopes and dreams lay broken and battered. What was I to do? Later that evening as I sat with my parents George Carlin came on the television. My parents began laughing. Then, laughing harder! Then, harder still! I remember thinking to myself "If I can't be an inventor, I'll do what he is doing." Ever since then I have been getting into trouble with friends, co-workers, and loved ones.
Thanks George:)

48 Screening
Current mood: accomplished
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities
Today Fast Forward (my directorial debut) premiered at the 20th Century Theater as a part of the 48 Hour Film Project.
The cast and crew sat in the audience waiting for the film. It appeared last in a series of 15 or so movies. I could feel the anticipation mounting. Only a few had seen the movie before the premier.
Then it appeared... Fast Forward.
It got some laughs, and yes it was suppose too. Not only was it a silent film, it was a comedy.
After all the movies were shown, the filmmakers were asked to come up on stage. We each introduced ourselves.
"I'm Richard Alcorn. I made the monstrosity called Fast Forward." I didn't mean it in a negative way. I meant that the film had become a monster to me in some respect. It had scared me a little.
We answered some questions.
Q: If you had to do all over again, what would you do differently?
A: Spell Check!
Then the Producer of the 48 asked if anything unexpected happened. I told them a tale where I was covered in dirt for a portion of the shoot. Then I also let the audience know that my crew was a group of strangers that got together to make film and acted like old friends.
After the Q&A cast, crew, and a few close friends went to Dewey's Pizza for a little dinner.
We talked about the film and of future projects. Seems they want to work with me again.
I suppose I did something right. ;)

Another 48 Hours
Current mood: crazy
Category: Jobs, Work, Careers
Yesterday team Look Number 7 Films wrapped up work on the film "Fast Forward." This film is a part of the 48 Hour Film Project. I could tell you what it is about, but you are better off going to see it on Sunday. June 13, 2008: I went to the kick off to get my teams info. I met up with Josh Flowers and Kendall Bruns of Pizza Infinity there. They are veteran directors of the 48 Hour Film Project, and a couple of good friends of mine. Every team pulls a random genre. I pulled drama. After thinking it over I decided to throw caution to the wind and go with a wild card genre. I PULLED SILENT FILM! I was very happy! Later that night, the team I recruited met at 8:30 PM to do paper work. After the meeting Ray Price and I got to work on the script. After a couple of ideas were thrown around we choose one and got to work. At around 2:00 AM we finished the script and got some sleep. June 14, 2008: We started some what fresh at 8:00 AM. We went to Pompilo's for the first shoot of the day. Pompilo's has some film history. Rain Man, staring Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise was filmed there. Airborne, a movie about rollerblading was also shot there. Later that same day we filmed love, death, and fine dining. After the filming was over it was time to edit. I called up the "Colonel" to let him know we were ready to start. He arrived and started to put the film together. We ended that editing session about 1:00 AM to start fresh the next day. June 15, 2008: The Colonel arrived at 10:00 AM. This is where we ran into a few problems. Some of the shots we got were not working, and unfortunately some dialog had to be dropped. Since the entire dialog was being shown in title boxes that part was easy, but some lines had to be rewritten on lamb. The film was completed and turned in at 6:25 PM, which is 65 minutes before the deadline. This is my first attempt at directing a 48 Hour Film or any other film for that matter. I am happy with the end result, and have learned a lot from my cast/crew. Speaking of cast and crew... Thank you all so much for helping to make this shoot a learning, exciting, and just plain fun weekend. I hope we all get to work together again real soon. Even though we were more or less a group of strangers, when we got together to make this film it was like old friends getting together for a BBQ.
This was a rewarding experience on many levels and I look forward to making another film. Now if you want to you can come out see Fast Forward this Sunday!:

Need Some Photo’s?
Current mood: grateful
I know a lot of comics and actors in Cincinnati have been looking for decent headshots. If you find them you have to have spend upwards of $200.00 or more.
My friend Taren Frazier may be able to help you out.
He is a photographer in the area and his rates are really good as is his work.
For more information on Taren, pricing, and his work check out: http://www.myspace.com/frazierphotography
He also has a website www.tarenfrazier.com, but his price list for photo shoots are on his myspace.
I hope this helps out.
