Lyric Comedy Nights - Advance Tickets.
Hello Just a quickie to let you know that I have organised a special deal and an opportunity to buy tickets before the general public for the autumn run at the Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith
Tickets are £15 per gig or £10 per gig if you sit in the Upper Circle - or buy tickets for all three gigs and get the best seats for just £30 total (3 for 2).
The line ups are really good and there has already been a lot of interest in the November gig so I advise you to book AS SOON AS POSSIBLE to avoid disappointment. Stewart Lee will be roadtesting different material every month for his forthcoming BBC show "Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle".
The gigs are all hosted by me, plus:
Sun 21st September - Robert Newman, Stewart Lee and Dan Antopolski.
Sun 28 October - SPECIAL SURPRISE HEADLINER WHO WE CAN'T NAME YET, BUT WHO IS BRILLIANT, Stewart Lee, Ivan Brackenbury and Wilson Dixon
Sun 16 November - TMWRNJ Reunion Special - Many of the cast of the cult BBC 2 show get together for the first time on stage for almost 10 years. Please be aware that most of these people will be doing their current acts rather than material or characters from the show - including Stewart Lee, Richard Thomas, Paul Putner, Emma Kennedy and Trevor Lock. Hopefully Kevin Eldon will also show up, though he hasn't got back to me yet. The evening will be headlined by a short 10 minute set from defunct double act LEE AND HERRING. This is the kind of gig that only comes along once in a blue moon and will sell out first, so BOOK NOW!
In fact take advantage of the one off 3 for 2 offer for Lee and Herring fans only and come to all three. Tickets are only available to fans in the know for the next week, so please ring the Lyric on 0871 22 117 29 and quote "Moon on a Stick" to take advantage of this unique opportunity.
There will be another newsletter soon with all my other news, but knew you'd want to know about this as soon as possible. Hope to see you at the gigs! Don't miss out. Rich Herring

Richard Herring - a couple of things - maybe three.
Hi Hope you're having a good mid April. Just a couple of things (maybe three) to tell you about.
1) EDINBURGH PROGRAMME - As usual I am giving you the chance to get your name in my latest Edinburgh Fringe programme, receive a free limited edition of the programme and help raise money for SCOPE. All you have to do is visit My just giving page and donate at least £12.50 and you will get all of this, plus the chance to win some cool spot prizes. The more you donate, the bigger your name will be in the programme and the person who donates the most will win the "How Much is Too Much" T shirt as worn in the "Oh F***, I'm 40" show. Please remember to email me your postal address to Herring1967@googlemail.com once you have donated. Last year's programme raise over £10,000 for SCOPE. Be nice to do even better this year. And if you have something to promote then there is also advertising space available. E mail me for rates.
2) OLD EDINBURGH POSTERS - You can now buy original posters from three of my previous shows "The Twelve Tasks of Hercules Terrace", "Talking C*ck" and "Someone Likes Yoghurt" at The Go Faster website These are £5 each or all three for £10 (including delivery in a nice cardboard tube). While you're there why not pick up my three DVDs if you haven't got them already!
3) LYRIC COMEDY NIGHTS - the line ups for all three Lyric, Hammersmith shows are now all sorted out and the first one is on Sunday. I am delighted to say that Russell Howard will be headlining on the 18th May. He rocks. You can see all details at The Lyric website Book now.
There are your, as it turns out, three things. And while I think about it here is a bonus number 4
4) There's a funny video of me having to deal with a heckler on youtube. You can see it here and there's a slightly longer version here
I am going now before I think of something else

Edinburgh Programme Fund
I have though set up a new Just Giving Page for donations for the new Edinburgh programme fund. As usual I am giving you the chance to get your name in the new Richard Herring Edinburgh programme (probably a bumper double issue for both Headmaster’s Son and Christ on a Bike) and to help a brilliant charity at the same time. You will also received a limited edition copy of the programme through the post (please email your home address to Herring1967@googlemail.com - if I have not received your address by the end of July you will not get your free programme) and there will be some spot prizes too. This year due to inflation the minimum donation to ensure entry to the programme will be £12.50. Butl the more you donate the bigger your name will be and the person who donates the most money will win the "How Much is Too Much" T-shirt as worn during the entire run of "Oh F***, I’m 40"(it will be washed). Deadline for final entry not yet decided, but please give sooner rather than later.
It would be terrific if you could be as supportive as you have been for the last couple of years. This money makes a massive difference and it’s really a terrific cause.

Richard Herring - Spring News
Hello everybody, Here is all the spring based Richard Herring news (incorporating stuff both about the season and the coiled bouncy bits of metal).
TOUR Thanks to all those of you who came to see my latest tour and DVD record. There will be a few more fleeting opportunities to see this show before I turn 41. They are: 24th April Black Box, Belfast 3rd May Chipping Norton Theatre 10th May York 7th June Liverpool (not totally confirmed) Or you can wait til the DVD comes out in around about six months time.
OTHER GIGS Here are my gigs for March and April which will be a combination of old bits, plus me trying to work up new material. Details for all gigs will (eventually) be up on.."http://www.richardherring.com/gigs/"> my gig guide and no doubt new gigs will be added in April.
March 28th Walton on Thames 29th Taunton 30th Wam Bam Club April 1st Ginglik, Shepherd’s Bush 2nd Streatham Waterfront 4th Kingston 16th Galway, Ireland 19th Laughter in Odd Places 19th Gypsy Hill 21st Kilburn 28th Fortnight club
LYRIC COMEDY NIGHTS April also sees the return of the popular Sunday night comedy club at the Lyric theatre. 20th April will see me introducing Jenny Eclair, Tom Basden and Francesca Martinez - website 27th April I host Sean Hughes, Pappy’s Fun Club and Wil Hodgson - website 18th May - we have yet to confirm the headliner, but Justin Edwards and Tony Law are definitely on, which should be enough for anyone. BOOK EARLY to ensure your seat. Either book on line at The Lyric website or call 0871 22 117 29 Tickets £15 or £10 if you sit in the Upper Circle.
PODCAST I am doing a (now) weekly podcast with my old 6 Music colleague (he is not my friend) Andrew Collings. There are five in the bag already and we’ll try to do them every Friday for the foreseeable future. You can listen to or download the ones we’ve done from here Or more excitingly you can subscribe to the podcast on iTunes and help our assault on the charts. So far our highest position has been 25th in the main chart and 16th in the comedy one, though our main aim is to get ahead and stay permanently ahead of the Nuts video podcast (don’t look at it, you’ll only help them!). So please subscribe if you enjoy our stupid rambling.
EDINBURGH I am planning to do Edinburgh 2008 and am probably going to do two shows. A new one called "The Headmaster’s Son" which will probably be on in the White Belly at the Underbelly again and then at weekends I am going to revive "Christ on a Bike", maybe in a slightly larger venue. We are already making plans to record both these shows for DVD in the autumn. I will let you know how to get hold of tickets for Edinburgh as soon as they are available.
EDINBURGH PROGRAMME I will shortly be starting work on the free programme for Edinburgh, all the proceeds of which will go to SCOPE as usual (you all helped to raise well over £10,000 this year, so thanks!). You will be able to donate money to get your name in this bumper programme (which will cover two shows this year), but if you think you might like to purchase advertising space for a company or product or maybe even another Edinburgh show, then please email me at Herring1967@googlemail.com and I will let you know the prices. Space is very limited as I don’t want a programme full of just adverts, but as well as getting your advert into the hands of up to 10,000 comedy fans over the course of the year, all the money you spend will be going to charity. So it’s a win/win situation. It’s worth getting in touch, cos the space is going for a song, it really is and a quarter or half page ad might not cost you much at all.
DVDS If you want to catch up on the back catalogue of my one man shows you can buy "The Twelve Tasks of Hercules Terrace", "Someone Likes Yoghurt" and "menage a un" from Go Faster Stripe "Oh F***, I’m 40" will be joining the ever-increasing roster of this fine organisation that already have brilliant Stewart Lee and Simon Munnery shows available and have also recorded shows by Robin Ince, Lucy Porter, John Hegley, Paul Sinha, Wil Hodgson and Tony Law. Any self respecting comedy fan should buy everything that this company puts out as they have excellent taste and should be encouraged in this superb enterprise of providing DVD releases for comedians who might never get them otherwise.
RADIO The third series of Banter is on Radio 4 at 6.30pm on (I think) Thursday evenings, starting on the 3rd April. It’s the best series yet if the records were anything to go by, so do tune in or listen again or whatever you youngsters like to do these days.
TV I have just given in a pilot script for my Scrabble sit-com (provisionally entitled "Absolutely Scrabulous"), so hopefully there might be news on that next time. There is apparently still a chance that "You Can Choose Your Friends" might become a series, but as always, don’t hold your breath.
BLOG Warming Up continues into it’s sixth year at this location I also do a fortnightly blog on the New Statesman site, which occasionally (as with this week) contains different content to Warming Up - New Statesman
SPRINGS There is no spring news at the moment, but should there be any then you will be the first to know.
Hope that’s enough to be going on with. Say hi if you come to one of the gigs (you know, afterwards - not while I am on stage) Rich
