Bodyweight Exercises: Change Changes Change - Sort Of...
Current mood: blessed
Category: Life
The popular theory or idea right now is that your fitness and health problems are caused by your emotional problems. You overeat, for example, because food is "comfort" for emotional pains you've got. Or you can't follow through on a workout regimen because you have a "fear of commitment." And, for a lot of people, this is absolutely TRUE.
So, if you ARE one of those people, then it makes sense that your fitness, nutrition, and stretching routines should fit in with this BIG change you are working on. Because you don't want the routines - which are defeated by your problems - to be defeated again by fighting against changing your change!
Also, as you are changing inside, you need to keep modifying your routines to keep up with your internal changes. You also want to do this quickly, to maintain the momentum and keep the changes going in a positive direction.
So check out The FITNESS Portal. No touchy-feely stuff here - just hard nosed information that WORKS. OH! Check out the BEST Golf Fitness program - right there on the website. To the left - a little more... a little more - THERE! And our BONUS with purchase of the featured product - IT works, too. And our EXCLUSIVE eBook with our newsletter - yep. It works, too.

You Can’t Focus On EVERYTHING
Current mood: accomplished
Category: Life
What if you heard a noise from one of the wheels on your car? And you took it to the mechanic and asked him or her to check out the brakes, because it sounds like it did when your brakes went out the last time. And what if the mechanic said that they have a "comperhensive" program that is going to look at your entire car? Well, if you want that - that's great. If you want your brakes fixed - it's wasted time and money. AND, you probably want your mechanic to spend ALL the time getting the brakes fixed. Now, it's the same thing when it comes to your workout routine. Sometimes you're going to want to have a workout routine that hits everything - HARD sometimes, easier at other times. But sometimes you want (or need) to focus on a body part. Or a body area. Or maybe something like stamina or stress or overall fitness. Or even trying to lose weight without dieting. And you do this by having several fitness routines to select from, depending on what you want to focus on. The only fitness routine I have seen that - by itself - is this flexible, is traditional karate kata. But even kata is not flexible enough to cover the flexibility that Pilates will provide. Bodyweight exercises also come close, but to cover everything, you'd need an encyclopedia of exercises. So have a bunch of routines in your pocket, to whip out whenever one is needed, from The FITNESS Portal. Oh - free bonus with every purchase ($19.95). AND our exclusive FREE eReport.

Bodyweight Exercises: Stress, Weight Gain, And Stressing About Weight Gain
Current mood: animated
Category: Life
The idea of fitness is much more than just a flat stomach, running long distances, or losing weight. It is overall health. This includes managing stress, because stress can lead to many destructive health problems. And the tragedy is that stress breaks down your body and ruins your health and you never know it. Stealth health killer. High stress can lead to weight gain. This comes through many different doors. Some people, when stressed, eat to clam their nerves. Other people will use the stress as an excuse to fall off a diet or an exercise routine. So the stress, which by itself destroys your body, also defeats your other efforts to stay healthy and fit. This is why you need to focus on stress and weight gain/management. Stress is pressure on your body, and it will eventually break your body down. Weight gain has its own problems: increased chance of diabetes, increased pressure and pain on your knees and lower back, etc. So, since these two destructive forces work together to hurt you - make your fitness routines work together to fight back! Have routines to handle or minimize stress. Refocus your weight management efforts to be focused on healthy nutrition as much as weight loss. Look to The FITNESS Portal for the range of products to develop this knowledge. There is a BONUS with every purchase. EVERY purchase. AND an exclusive eBook not available anywhere else, if you sign up for our newsletter.

Golf Fitness: Putting Is More Than Just Lining Up The Shot
Current mood: breezy
Category: Sports
Drive for show, putt for dough. The key to low scores - really low scores - is to get your putts accurate. Getting on the green in 2 is meaningless if it takes 3 or 4 more to putt your ball near enough to the hole to sink it. So, besides simply practicing your putting, what else can you do to improve? Look to improve your golf fitness.
Get in condition. Putting is probably the part of the game that requires the most concentration, but at the same, the most flexibility. You have to consider the speed of the green, any obstructions, any slight breeze. You have to focus on the speed of your putter, the force with which you hit the ball, and any curvature, no matter how slight. And you have to be able to filter out distractions like noise, smells, blowing obstructions, and the cell phone.
So how does getting in condition help this? First, your mind won't be unconsciously checking out the little aches and pains in your body caused by dragging 15 or 20 extra pounds from hole to hole. Second, your arms and shoulders will be strong enough to hold the club steady despite any breeze. Third, your concentration and discipline overall will be helped by the process of focusing on and sticking with a conditioning program. Also, a fitness program that is designed specifically for golf will strengthen those areas that are used most in the sport of golf.
Your time spent away from the links - especially your time over winter, if you live in a "cold" climate - can still be used effectively to improve your golf game. Use indoor ranges. Use those little putting machines in your office. And get in shape. It will improve your golf game AND your life.
Probably best reference for golf fitness is Mike Pederson's The Ultimate Golf Fitness Guide. This is not a bunch of rehashed exercises that some aerobics instructor thought might be useful for golf, but a manual specifically written from day 1 - page 1 - to improve your golf game by improving your golf fitness.
And, if you are looking for general fitness and nutrition information, check out The FITNESS Portal.

Golf Fitness: Lower Weight == Higher Scores!
Current mood: awake
Category: Sports
The Advantages of Weight Loss For GOLF FITNESS It seems like everyone is trying to lose weight-but would losing weight improve your golf game? If the weight loss is accompanied by an improvement in your fitness and conditioning levels - ABSOLUTELY. The most obvious advantage to weight loss is, of course, the health benefits. When you are heavier than normal, you put our body at risk to develop a number of disease and conditions, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease, and intestinal diseases. These can be prevented and more easily treated if you lose weight. Maintaining a healthy weight is something that you and your doctor should discuss in order to make the best decisions for your body's health. Losing weight also can teach you about healthy eating, which opens up a whole new world when it comes to food. Cooking with healthy, fresh ingredients can be really fun, and it can be an activity you do with your spouse or children so that the entire family is eating more healthy foods and focused on losing extra weight and maintaining healthy weights levels. Losing weight and improving your conditioning will give you the energy and pep to keep up with your kids! Taking your kids along for a round of golf is an excellent way to improve your relationship with them. Talking during the walk to the next tee. Giving them positive feedback on their swing or their putt. Asking them to give YOU tips on improving getting out of the trap. Of course, one of the best advantages is how you will feel about yourself after you've lost the weight. Who doesn't want to receive compliments from coworkers? Who doesn't want to attend their high school reunions looking even prettier than when actually in high school? Who doesn't want to smile at their appearance every day when looking in the mirror? Of course, for some people, this takes more than losing weight, but it's a good start. There are a number of other advantages to losing weight and improving your fitness as well-you'll have more energy, be better able to play with your children, have a sense of achievement and much, much more. If you think that you'd like to take advantage of these great things about weight loss, talk to your doctor today to find out how that can be possible. And right now - BEFORE golf season starts - is the BEST time to focus on your weight and your fitness. Football players focus on conditioning in their off-season. Mixed martial arts fighters devote a significant portion of their training to conditioning and aerobics. So NOW - when you would normally be watching reruns on the Golf Channel - spend some time every day to increase your conditioning, manage or lose your gut and butt, and get your golf fitness up to championship golf levels. Golf Fitness: Improve Your Game By Getting In Shape
Current mood: cheerful
Category: Sports
One of my favorite things is watching the ball fly off the tee, a perfect arc up up up and then down onto the green, bouncing and rolling and finally stopping way way way out there. The flight of the ball is, to me, magical. A work of art. A thing of beauty. And when I actually hit one like that, I am just amazed. But for a long time, my golf game was the most frustrating thing I could imagine. My drives would skim the top of the grass for 200 yards, never actually getting up in the air. My putts were either 6 inch rollers or these awesome drives over the green and through the grass on the other side. And sand traps? Death traps. I would chop at them like George Washington at the cherry tree (except I DID lie!). I hated the game - except for the fact that I loved it. I thought about lessons, but I also figured it was a waste of money. I mean, I was so bad, I would be spending money to learn how to merely awful! I loved going to the driving range, just to take out my frustration on a bucket of balls (even if they never actually flew anywhere). My friends would give me tips. "Keep your shoulders straight." "Bend here." "Bend there." "Look down." And I would try them, but they felt awkward and unnatural. And my game never improved. It didn't get worse. But it didn't get better. And it was actually doubly frustrating, because I was practicing karate and making real steady improvement. I couldn't figure out why I could hit a guy square on the jaw, between his upraised fists, while he's bobbing and weaving, and yet I couldn't hit a stupid ball SITTING right in front of me! Aaaaaargh! So one day, while contemplating the zen of a sand trap, I started getting this realization. I do pushups, because they improve my armstrength for karate punches. I do squats, because they improve my leg strength for karate kicks. I do splits and stretches that specifically improve my karate kata (the defined sequences of karate moves). And I was always getting better at karate. What if I tried the same thing for golf? Couldn't make my game any worse. So I looked for sports-specific golf fitness programs. And I found a bunch of crap! Aerobics instructors putting out golf videos. Retired pros putting out books about how to play the 13th hole at St. Crappy's Course in Backwater, England. But nothing by a fitness expert specifically for a fitness program for golf. Until I found Mike Pedersen's The Ultimate Golf Fitness Guide, the best book focused on fitness for golf. It's written from page 1 by a golf expert, with golf fitness as its goal. It's guaranteed, and it's got tons of testimonials. It's an absolute must for everyone's golf library. I recommend it for everyone, even experienced golfers who can get the ball up in the air! It's right here, so check it out now and improve your game in 30 days!

Exercise NOW To Shovel Snow And Avoid The Heart Attack
Current mood: awake
Category: Life
It's the beginning of snow season. Where I live in the Midwest, we are getting our first real snow fall of the year. Other parts of the country have already had thick or even paralyzing snowfalls. There's also ice and fallen trees to contend with. Big problems that need to be cleared. Snow means heart attack and back injury. That's it. There really is nothing else to say. If you have to dig out your driveway or sidewalk, if you have to push the car off a patch of ice or out of a ditch, or just chasing the kids through snow - your heart is going to pound itself out of your chest, your back will tie itself up in knots, and every other muscle will cramp and pull. What do you do? Well, even though you've got holiday plans and the "end of the year" wrapup at work, you MUST find time to get into condition. The easiest and fastest way is to begin a daily 30 minute (work up to this if you're out of shape) bodyweight exercise routine that focuses on the heart: -squats. Lots of them and every day. The great thing about squats is that you can do sets of 50 or 100 several times during the day. -pushups. Do Hindu pushups or divebombers, as these will stretch the back as well as strengthen. -jumping jacks. Yep. The old elementary school staple. Do a lot of these, for aerobic and breathing improvement. If nothing else will motivate you to start exercising right now, how about this: the number 5 reason people go to the ER during the holiday season is injuries from Christmas toys. The number 1 reason is heart attacks. I'd rather have my kids tease me about getting my finger pinched while setting up the bike, than remember Christmas as the day daddy died. Make this Christmas holiday full of the RIGHT memories. Exercise NOW.
