to my friends....yeah, you.
okay. let's see if my laptop stays on long enough for a hello, how are you. i thought it was time for a little update. as you may know, RINGSIDE has been busy working in the studio and touring. we've been blasted and baptised, poisoned and paraded, fornicated and forgiven and all the while trying to make some semblance of documentation through the worries and woes of our beloved muse. we do have our sights set and are planning a tour to come see you soon. there is a lot that i want to share with you, but presently am afraid to give too much, as i am in the middle of a legal joust with all sorts of questionable characters. however, together with your support and our blind faith, i do believe the artist will survive. i just got back from new york where i visited my friend who owns a place called "loft". we discussed the idea of doing a somewhat intimate RINGSIDE show there. do you like how i capitalize nothing but the name of my band? a little trick i learned from people magazine, some many years ago. i noticed that nobody, including myself, reads anything. just look at the picture, read the capitalized, or italicized word and turn the page. we are now informed. god bless we little heads. by the way, i must share something with you. after spending much time overseas, i have learned that not only are our fellow airbreathers of planet earth a little peeved with us, but also, not very interested in the who's who of "not wearing underwear" and other events we deem worthy of being worldly topics. yes, we are in a bubble. now, i must say, i am very proud to be of American seed and soil. i have had a great time making a life filled with the fuel of fun, thanks to our nation's grand daddys. in fact, i found myself getting very hot over the topic of politics in my homeland. the good news is, apparently, we all are filled with the same warm, red blood, and a conscience. shit, where have i gone? i always do this...um,...let's see...okay, inform; we will play the ROXY in hollywood with WHITESTAR and the GRAND MARQUEE on SATURDAY, APRIL 7, then move on to NEW YORK to play a special event at LOFT, TUESDAY APRIL 10. (yeah, i capitalized). please come out and play with us. we really want to be your favorite AMERICAN band. we love you. -s.t.

i am alive.
hey lovers. i have made a big, long awaited move to the most beautiful, awe-inspiring, city of ventura. i'm just getting ready to start the new record. in a couple of weeks i will start putting my new studio together. this one has an ocean view! i have been, truly, born again! i just got back from london, where i did a 4 hour show for some very beautiful people. spent some time at the tate modern. what a spot. saw a billboard that read "nothing good ever came from america". i had a pint and a fish and chips and decided not to get too upset about it. what is it they said about opinions and assholes? i have not been checking in because i have rented a house on the beach without internet. i am usually there on the sand with my guitar singing like i just don't care, ( in case you wanna come see a free show sometime ). balt's been a bad boy. been doing the whole t.v. star thing. forgetting that his true mistress is music. stayed at his place the other night. he said he's ready to start working. i worked with dr.dre a couple of weeks ago. one more dream off the old 'to do' list. i think i might have a hetero crush on him. been doing a lot of writing lately. some new songs to look out for:...."gone", "human from the man", "lost days" (written in my london hotel room), "heartbreak", balt's favorite, "freedom".....to name a few. i can't wait to share them all with you. i have never been so excited about the music. i am at starsucks where i can use my mac. i think the staff might be catching up to the fact that i will never make my decision on whether i'll go "tazo" or "frap", and that i would rather piss nails than support a place that has so many people believing that starbucks cares about good music, and are actually going out of their way to make sure you forget that you ever did . edith piaff would shoot herself if she could hear her lilith remix. god!! and i love a surfing singer, but how many jack johnsons are there anyway. i can't change my flip flops without getting yet another dose of the 'curious' crooner. okay, letting it go.....happy thoughts. she got revenge is gonna play the greek....wait, er...did they already? i am a crap friend. i think i should take my shirt off and see if i can shake things up in here a bit. what the fuck? i feel like i am in a yani video. where's the mustached maestro, anyway? save me. i gotta get outside. sunset on the surf is a must see. come see me. i miss you. don't you forget about me. -me

today
7.26.07 new songs are on the way. a new movie score, too. we are thinking about posting some of our new stuff on myspace before our record even thinks about coming out. what do you think? we're also getting ready to shoot a video for "criminal". we have one in the can that monica cut, but have yet to figure out how to post it. shameful. did anybody see the "struggle" video? i think you can watch it on our incredible ringsideband.com site. what have we been up to? balt and i got busy trying to save the universe, unfortunately, it appears no one wants saving. this cape's the worst 11 bucks i ever spent. i'm getting the back into shape, while the rest of me falls apart. i weigh in at my prepubecsant weight of a buck 47. not a good look. writing the best shit i ever have, though. balt's doing a new show. he still thinks being an actor is cool. i'll tell him to swing by and say "hi". australia was unbelievable. i cannot begin to tell you what it's like performing to over 10k people that came to be elevated. i think i enjoyed the show more than anyone else could have. i had chills every single nite. i love the aussies. i'm done here. i wanna be australian. trading in my passport today. is everybody gorgeous or is it a myspace thing? why does any girl under the age of 22 purse her lips when the camera goes snap? i am gonna do a shot like that and add it to our photos. me humping the sportscaster isn't enough! i wanna make waves. speaking of waves, there's a s.t. record or two waiting in the wings. probably 5 or 100 of them made over the past few years. i'm wondering how i should put them out. i want to get them out so you don't think i'm as useless as the band that takes 2 years to get a record out. lee at halfpipe records might let you hear a thing or two...and know how to get them up and running. sorry about not being funny today. somebody just told me that she can "ruin my career by making 5 phone calls". why not 3? do you suppose she has 5 people in mind? boy what gets into people. why is everybody so desperate? full of anger? get me outta here. i swear to God i was in the presence of a demon today. very scary. my heart was racing. i'm done. i want to get back to the woods and water where i am home. where i feel loved. spent the day swimming with dolphins yesterday. i'll take that. shit, give me a big wave. trample me with a thunderous roar. let me get lost in between what's up and down, and drift into oblivion. pink warm oblivion. no more rotting flesh and thirsty, sun stroked rats coming out in broad dayliht looking for a piece of me. i want the love back. ...with a bit of that pre 911 humor to boot. can we take a joke? i love you.

hi, it's me
i haven't stopped in for a while. which, is sometimes okay because i get to read all kinds of beautiful little hello's, all at once. i am healing up.....well, a little. tried playing a show yesterday without my brace. maybe not a good idea, but, i felt i earned it. meds are a drag. i've been, desperately, trying to crawl out of my flesh. there are a lot of new songs ready to burst out of our garage. balt feels that this next record is a real move foward from the last. our label (geffen) just went through an overhaul, which i imagine, should come as a bit of good news to some of you that send us so many "what the fuck is wrong with your record company" messages. i guess the top brass must have noticed a problem, too. we are not out of the woods, yet, though. i imagine they'll need to count all the beans before making a decision on whether to 'hang on' or 'hang out' RINGSIDE. good news is that when we go out there and play, people come out. everybody's singing and shaking. we are part of a real gang. that's gotta mean something to the beancounters. we are trying to hustle a way out to see all of you across this land of ours. i even brought them a 'BEN HARPER' tour. oh, that reminds me, i'm singing on his new record! if you haven't picked it up yet, do. you'll be glad you did. genius, shake your soul stuff. they weren't ready to show us any money right now. anyway, don't give up on us yet. in fact, just keep asking, and spreading the word. we're trying to be a big league band here, but politics always seem to get in the way. this business blows. on a lighter note, 'SHE WANTS REVENGE', (the band we brought to our label), seems to keep tearing it up out there. very exciting. we have all been friends since we were wee tiny hollywood hoodlums. let's see....oh! we SOLD OUT the TROUBADOR! amazing! something's cookin'! God! one of the raddest, yes i said 'raddest' (b.m.x. background, okay?), shows so far. which reminds me, for SOCAL RINGSIDERS :
COME SEE US THURSDAY, APRIL 27TH, HEADLINING THE ROXY
'samantha ronson', and the 'daylights" are gonna be there, too. well, coffee's not working anymore and my fingers are all thumbs. i keep typing really strange things and, then, suddenly, feeling that inevidable shame, and erasing it. i want to share it all, but i'm not sure anyone is ready for that yet. the human in me is kind of an ugly one. oh, i'm broke, too. i spent all my money on really expensive RINGSIDE tee shirts. what do you think i could get for balthazar's cell phone number? he'd murder me, i'm sure, but my feeling is, you can always get a new number if it becomes a problem, right? or, what about brian bell's digits? i've got to believe there are some serious WEEZER heads out there that would cough up a dime or two. funny thing is, he probably wouldn't mind. as long as it induces some stimulating conversation. he's a beauty like that. Norm's number really should be worth something, considering he is the best living drummer. kieth moon would be nervous if it weren't for being dead. anyway, love to you, friends. i am all yours. take me home. -scott
