Gigs on the horizon
Hello. I, Robochrist, will be doing this. in our new band Eureka Machines.
The tour we were supposed to be doing over the next couple of weeks was cancelled, but we've got some dates anyway...
SATURDAY 26 APRIL - Brudenell Social Club, Queen's Rd, Leeds (acoustic)
Dave and I will be doing an acoustic set supporting infamous guitar-slapping guru Jon Gomm at our favourite pub in Leeds. For those who haven't seen Jon play (and you really need to see it to believe it), go here to see one song he does:
http://uk.youtube.com/watc h?v=Cie4FvPlr78
"Sheer bloody genius… sublime, impassioned songwriting" Sandman Magazine "One of the world's most successful, gifted and inspirational guitar players" Acoustic Magazine "This guy has it all - great heartfelt vocals, inspired and original songs, and guitar playing as good as you will ever hear. The new Hendrix." ReviewCentre.com
The twat.
We're on at about 9pm, the lovely Pete Wright is on first, and it's £5 on the door... or £4 here:
http://www.wegottickets.com/event/26525
SUNDAY 27 APRIL - 12 Bar Club, Denmark St, London
We're all traipsing down to that fancy South to do our first London gig in our favourite pub in London. We're on at 9.30pm, supporting our mates Shush (featuring Milena from AntiProduct and Jake from Tat). It's their album launch so expect it to be suitably busy. Get down early because the 12 Bar is fairly bijou. It's just off Tottenham Court Road on the world-famous Tin Pan Alley, home of some of England's most overpriced music shops, cheapest Chinese restaurants and most hardened crack addicts. And, best of all, it's only £3 in, which is the average price for a penny sweet in London.
TUESDAY 29 APRIL - Chapel @ The Parish, Huddersfield
Back oop North for a gig with our mates International Trust, plus Evil Eye and the fantastically named Deepthroat Motorboat. It's only £3 in, which is quite a lot in Huddersfield. But hey, you might get yer udders feeled.
THURSDAY 1 MAY - Gasworks, Bradford
Supporting Asomvel. I think we'll be doing our metal set for this one.
SATURDAY 3 MAY - Joseph's Well, Clarendon Rd, Leeds (early gig)
Part of the utterly amazing Live At Leeds festival/all-dayer/party. We're on at Joseph's Well at 2pm. Check out www.liveatleeds.com for more info. There's an absolute wealth of talent on show at all of this, check the website for more info. A crisp tenner will get you a wristband that allows entry to all the main venues in town for the whole day to see some of the best underground talent in the area. It's all great but we'd especially recommend Grammatics, White Rabbits, This Et Al, Jack Afro, The Grand March and Humanfly.
THURSDAY 15 MAY - Dry Bar, Manchester
Our first full-band jaunt to Manchester. Rest assured we won't be wearing jackets done up to our monobrows and wielding maracas.
FRIDAY 16 MAY - Love Apple, Bradford
Supporting Orphan Boy, who've been garnering great press from The NME and The Fly, and Steve Lamacq chose their record as his album of the week. Sweet! Also with The Mirandolas and Like A Pioneer.
That's the next month covered, then. It's going to be more fun than topless dwarves wrestling in Swarfega. And THAT'S a promise.
Keep checking the website - www.eurekamachines.com - and the My Space - www.myspace.com/eurekamachines - for any updates etc. And spread the word!
Hooray. Chris.

Robochrist does Christmas
It's been a while since there's been any news on the Robochrist front. Well, there still isn't any, to be honest. But Chris aka Robochrist aka me has put a special Christmas track on the My Space site of his (our) new band Eureka Machines. It's a piano-led version of the classic carol Silent Night, and about as far removed from Robochrist as possible. It's also got some brass in, courtesy of my crap trombone skills.
So go to www.myspace.com/eurekamachines and have a look and make friends with us if you're not already. We've got some gigs and everything. If you like it, you can download it and forward it your friends. Even better, point them here. And you can always make it your profile song thing.... but only until January 6th, when we'll take it down.
All the best to you and yours for Christmas. Chris.
PS Go see the March Violets on Saturday at Leeds Met.

New Band - New Danger
Hello everyone,
I've finally got my arse into gear and got some recording of my own done. Sadly/happily it's not Robochrist, although I will get more of this done someday. It's my new project Eureka Machines, which you can find at http://www.myspace.com/eurekamachines - please add us as a friend. And if you like it, pass it on, because as always, I need all the help I can get. The drums were done by Wayne Sowden and everything else was done by me. We like it, and we hope you do to. It's rocky pop rock and roll pop and roll punky stuff.
So please add us, have a listen and a read etc and hope to hear from you soon.
All the best Chris.
PS I will do more Robochrist stuff at some point. I've got a little studio at home now.

Jacket Goes Missing
Hello,
I did some gigs this weekend, they were loads of fun.
At the second festival, the otherwise brilliant Rock Zottegem, my jacket and contents disappeared. Towards the end of the set, I took it off and put it next to my amplifier. Someone was seen picking it up and walking off with it from the side of the stage. If they were kindly putting it to one side for me, thanks, could you let me know where you put it please? If they stole it, I hope their next shit is a pineapple. The jacket is a Vans Pinstripe type thing, which was kind of on its last legs anyway, but it had a silver bracelet in the pocket that holds a lot of sentimental value for me, which I'd love to get back.
If anyone knows anything, or gets offered anything, please give me a shout. I'd really love to see the bracelet again. I got it in Mexico.
All the best Chris.

Robochrist gig on Thusday in Leeds
Current mood: thankful
Hi.
Got a (fairly) last-minute Robochrist gig on Thursday at the Faversham in Leeds. The wonderful Middleman (see my top friends list thing) just asked me to support them, and Napoleon IIIrd is on too. I know it sounds like lip service to try and get you down to the gig or whatever, but Middleman are the funnest band ever and Napoleon is one of my favourite things in the world (as most people who know me will confirm). He's a genius. And also dead fit. Go and check 'em out:
www.myspace.com/boney3 www.myspace.com/middlemanpop
Plus a DJ set from Kid Kanevil after, he'll probably be dropping some sick flavaz or something.
I'll be on around half 8. It's four or five quid on the door, but you can get tickets from Dr Wu's on Call Lane in Leeds for three quid, or from Middleman themselves on their website - www.middleman.moonfruit.com - click on the 'Buy Tickets' link.
This gig will also give me an opportunity to prove to Lee from Middleman that I don't have a really small knob.
Cool. Hope to see some familiar faces there.
Chris.
PS I've shafted my ankle again so apologies if I don't move very much, get out of your way quickly at the bar or yelp if you tread on my (right) foot.

Hope to see some familiar faces at the gigs.

Robochrist in Leeds
I'm doing a gig in Leeds, on May the 4th at the new Leeds Rio's which is opposite The Atrium on Grand Arcade, where Heaven and Hell used to be.
It's with Stateless, UR Penetrators, Jack Simpson and someone else, probably. And Peter Hook off of New Order and Joy Division is DJing.
I don't play in Leeds a right lot and have absolutely no plans to for ages so if you fancy it, come down.
Oh and the best thing is, it's free in. Hooray.
Hope to see some folk there.
All the best and that.

Acoustic gig
Current mood: quixotic
Hello,
I've got an acoustic gig supporting the rather splendiferous Jon Gomm at the New Roscoe in Leeds on Wednesday (the 18th). Look him up - www.myspace.com/jongomm - and add him to your friends list thingy and make him even more popular than he already is. Even better, look him up on You Tube to find out why people liked him so much in the first place.
I'll be on at 8.30pm, and it's only four or five quid in. I'm doing a bunch of new songs, if you've already seen me do the same set 400,000 times and are bored to the back teeth of my old set. (Which, frankly, I am.)
Anyroad up, it'd be good to see some folk there, because with one thing and another I'm gonna be away a lot this Summer. In fact this is a fleeting visit to Leeds.
In other news, the new band I've set up is sounding awesome, and will have some demo-y type stuff on the web in a month or so.
Currently The Scaramanga Six are holed up in deepest, darkest Wiltshire with that Tim Smith - www.cardiacs.com - working on our new album. The old one is barely drying behind the ears, but we're plowing on regardless. Oh speaking of that new album - go to www.myspace.com/thescaramangasix and buy it. It's bloody ruddy marvellous. I'll be back here later in the year with that Ginger bloke out of them Wildhearts, we're working on some stuff together, but it's not really in the traditional sense of the word 'working'. Erm... stay tuned. And buy the new Wildhearts album. It's mint.
I'm working on Robochrist stuff slowly and steadily. When I can be arsed. (Not very often.)
AntiProduct are doing a bunch of stuff all over the shop this Summer, which will no doubt be the world of fun. www.myspace.com/antiproduct for dates, tunes and pictures of me with Jimmy Somerville's hair circa 1989. It's not like that any more. I thought I'd grow it and try look like Gene Vincent. It's come out more like Paul McKenna's if I'm honest.
And... that other band I'm in has a few gigs this Summer too. Hope to see some of you there. It will be nine pints of fun in a barrel which only holds one gallon.
All the best and keep smiling.
Chris.
