rave - single of the week

HI we don't normally go too crazy on posting reviews but we thought this was a good one from Rave in Brisbane.

ROCKET SCIENCE – Psychic Man

Hey kids! How's youth going for ya? I'm talking to anyone not old enough to remember Sesame Street before Elmo. People of the age where they would call anyone over 30 'Gramps'. They probably don't even say 'Gramps' any more. It's probably G-Dog or Oldy McJizzle or [/youth] or something. Anyways, if you're young and into music, you've probably noticed a whole bunch of older underground bands from the '70s through to the '90s reforming and touring over the past few years. Bands like Radio Birdman and The Stems and Cosmic Psychos and The Saints. You've probably read enough to know that these bands are supposedly awesome but they don't mean anything to you. 'How could they, Grampsalicious?' you say in your Declan-from-Neighbours voice. Still, if you're open minded enough to consider that great music didn't just start the day you downloaded your first mash-up, you might like to know more but don't know where to start. Well, thanks to Rocket Science, you don't have to – you can just get their new Psychic Man single. This Melbourne band is new enough to not be a throwback (first album released this decade), but capture the exciting fuzzed garage sound and ridiculous manic energy that categorised those other groups. A good few years since their last record, Psychic Man is not one of the band's hookiest singles, but this pop tune drowned in screaming and guitar wailing is proof that Rocket Science will be must-sees on the 2025 reformed-band touring circuit. Flo Rida won't be.

Rocket Science sign to Fuse

ROCKET SCIENCE SIGNS TO FUSE MUSIC!


FUSE MUSIC GROUP is delighted to announce they have inked a deal with one of Australia’s finest bands, ROCKET SCIENCE, and will be releasing their new album, DIFFERENT LIKE YOU, in Australia and New Zealand.

ROCKET SCIENCE, a band renowned for their organ-driven rock’n’roll sound and stupendous live shows, released three previous albums on Modular Recordings, all of which garnered rave reviews and helped them build a strong following both locally and internationally. Ready for a new leap of independence, the band rose to the challenge by self-producing their new album, recording it in their own Melbourne studio over the course of the last year. The result is their strongest, most confident and rollicking platter to date.

After negotiations with several labels, FUSE emerged with the band’s signatures, to the thrill of the entire company. Said Nick Pontikos, Fuse’s Project Manager, "We’re jumping out of our skins about this. The new album is an absolute firecracker, I think it’s their best record yet. Rocket Science are rightly regarded as one of the most rockin’ bands in the country, and they’re in incredible form right now, it’s gonna be a big year for them".

After achieving success with an exceptional group of recent inhouse releases, from Sharon Jones’ "100 Days 100 Nights" to G-Swing’s "Swing For Modern Clubbing" and Martha Tilston’s "Of Milkmaids & Architects", ROCKET SCIENCE present themselves as both Fuse’s first big rock’n’roll act, and also their first local artist signing.

On Saturday the 8th of March, the Band, Label and Management got together at Fuse’s Sydney HQ in Surry Hills (based above their iconic TITLE retail outlet) for an informal signing party with friends and well-wishers in attendance. After agreements were signed corks were popped, and group hugs were had, the attendant throng were given a blast of the album’s first single, PSYCHIC MAN, before heading off to see them deliver a trademark rockin’ performance at the Oxford Art Factory.

The new single, PSYCHIC MAN, will hit radio in coming weeks and will be released as a CDEP, 7 Inch Single and Digital Download on 3rd May. Single launches will be staged in all major cities in May, details will be announced shortly.

The album, DIFFERENT LIKE YOU, will be released in July.
