An Introduction (of sorts) From Lady Marie™
Current mood: nostalgic
Category: MySpace
I first joined MySpace many moons ago... late July in 2005 if memory serves.
MySpace only had about twenty thousand or so members at that point, and was still primarily a networking site for unsigned bands. I myself joined because a dear friend of mine from high school (who coincidentally has a band) had urged me to join not only as a way to keep in touch with him, but also as a way to network for my writing.
"This MySpace thing, it’s gonna be big. You should get in on it!" he told me.
"Okay, sure. I’ll check it out," I promised.
And so I did, and one of the first things that I did upon creating my profile and discovering that I could join "groups" here, was hunt down the Elfquest group. It had 33 members and was deleted shortly after I joined.
Just my luck.
Being the MySpace "noob" that I was, I patiently waited for an Elfquest group to re-manifest itself, not realizing that I could have started one of my own from scratch. Fortunately for me, Alysia got tired of waiting, and took it upon herself to reincarnate the Elfquest group.
I jumped back in, feet first, and never looked back.
Fast forward to present day.
As of this blog post, there are roughly 230.5 million people using MySpace, according to that handy indicator box in the upper right hand corner of your MySpace home page. Elfpop himself has joined our ranks and created an Official Elfquest 2008 MySpace profile. Our group has grown to 312 members at present and High Ones willing, will continue to grow.
I’ve been a fan for over 21 years, and until I joined MySpace, every other Elfquest fan that I knew had become a fan because I had been the one to introduce them to the World of Two Moons. It has been an amazing experience for me to meet and make friends with people from all over the world, not only here, but also on The Scroll of Colors.
Elfquest fans are truly special people, indeed.
I cannot thank Alysia enough for taking the initiative to re-start the Elfquest group.
It goes without saying that Wendy and Richard have truly blessed us all with their stories of the World of Two Moons.
Until next time....
Shade and Sweet Water!
