The 3-piece movie "Christmas with Rodney Bailey"!
Current mood: drunk
Category: Music
It's finally here!
Rodney Bailey's information movie about their hometown Gävle during Christmastime.
It also contains lots of music, some serious acting, a sad love story and lots of booze.
Well, we wanted everybody on MySpace to hold on to the Christmas feeling so we can have some Holiday feeling in boring January too.
In this superb short film we can see Mary Fieldwall as Wonder Woman, Danny Creekblossom as a convict, Mr Distortellini as Jack Skellington and starring is Rodney Baileys manager; The Moose.
To get that serious Hollywood touch we imported Lee and Jolee from LA who were great on improvising. Eat your heart out, Sean Penn!
We want to apologize to all our viewers for the giant intake of booze which made our acting bad and our lines more and more slurry.
But you know us – We're mortal! We're stupid! We're drunk!
Enjoy!

The answers to our quiz!
Current mood: drunk
Well, here are the answers with some comments too.
1 A. Mary sleeps in a bed, Danny on a couch so he can fall asleep to some crap TV show and Mr Distortellinis bed is broken so he sleeps on the floor nowadays.
2 C. Danny sits behind the drums in the rockabilly trio Rockfire. He often gets paid in booze.
3 C. It was Aimee Manns "Wise Up", boy, was Mary annoyed. The other songs,
especially "Weird Sisters" is a constant in the repertoire..
4. B. Mr Distortellini cut his hand and snapped a string while recording the noise with
the headlight.
5. A. Well, Mary is the only one who can drive a car, Danny can't even ski and Mr Distortellini can't even skate. A disgrace for Scandinavia…
6. A. "MSD" (Mortal, Stupid, Drunk) was written in half a minute.
7. B. Well, when we posted the quiz Danny was the one answering and sending messages and comments. But the last weeks Mary has been doing it too, so half a point to those who've answered A.
8. B. From Late May to mid June all members of Rodney Bailey celebrate their Birthday at The Damp Dump, and those weeks are a terrible haze.
9. C. The health guru Mr Distortellini doesn't drink coffee, but after posting the quiz he drank decaf at Starbucks in Santa Cruz.
10. C. Danny has one Sparklehorse T-shirt, Mary two and Mr Distortellini four. Yes, we love Sparklehorse.
So it's A, C, C, B, A, A, B, B, C, C
So have we got some bad news for you sunshine – NO-ONE WINS THE PRIZE! WE WILL KEEP THE USED AIRBAG OURSELVES! Mr Distortellini can use it as a bed. Or install it in a car if he ever gets a license…

Gävle Aug 25
Current mood: drunk
Herrgårdshagens Autumn Festival 11:00
Mary lives only three minutes walk away from Herrgårdshagen. It was some kind of neighbourhood gathering with families, balloons and hot dogs. Creekblossom had his JD bottle, well we feel more rock'n'roll than hot doggy balloonatics, so we had some drinks pre-gig. That silly sports dad from the Måsberget gig was there and he gave us the bad eye…
We even did some classic Astrid Lindgren songs! First time ever Rodney Bailey had a singalong audience.
Set list:
Doubt Haunts Hard
Du käre lille snickerbo (cover)
Murder
Pippi Långstrump (cover)
Bittersweet Wicked Ways
Sjörövar-Fabbe (cover)
Bad Day for the Strip Magician
Too Drunk to Fuck (cover)
Östers Närradio 14:00
The radio station had an anti violence theme today, cause there was some violence in this part of town a couple of years ago. Fights, druggies running around with axes, right wing skinheads beating the shit out of people and so on… This was hard for us, cause many of our songs contain violent stories, so what should we play? We were a little slurry after the JD and some beer we had to our pizza lunch so we decided to play From Bismarck anyway, as it's short like they want on radio. Short interview and then launching into Doubt Haunts Hard and off we went to…
Valbo Shopping Mall 16:00
Small stage outside the Rocks Record Store. No-one, literally no-one stopped and watched us play outside the record store. An ocean of shopping carts with stressed Friday shoppers threw a glance at us passing by to the next stop on their shopping. Mary even threw some cd-r:s at some people passing by, but they didn't notice. Thank God we were not entirely sober, otherwise we would have wept like babies. Mr Distortellini threw his toy glockenspiel from the stage after six songs and Rodney Bailey left.
Set List:
MSD
Doubt Haunts Hard
Bittersweet Wicked Ways
From Bismarck to Mobile
Murder
Bad Day for the Strip Magician
The Damp Dump Homecoming gig 20:00
We really, really tried to perform Homecoming Queen, but we were hammered by now and it sounded more like Bonethrowing Beer. Danny fell from his drum stool twice, Mr Distortellini forgot all his lyrics and Mary didn't notice her guitar was totally out of tune. Long day, this one and maybe we drank a little too much too early. The audience were the drunk members of The Damp Dump Society, all musicians, so we had some guests up for the bluesy Murder who had a slide duel. It was nice ending the mini tour with familiar faces in the audience. Mr Distortellini slept on the floor of the rehearsal space. Mary threw up in a cab. Danny Creekblossom cut his hand on a broken bottle. End of tour.
Set list:
Homecoming Queen (cover)
MSD
Doubt Haunts Hard
A Bad Day for the Strip Magician
Rio (cover)
Bittersweet Wicked Ways
First There Was (cover)
Murder (ten minute version)
From Bismarck to Mobile
Shooting Star

Pizzerian Kråkstation Ockelbo / Pub Engelbrekt Falun Aug 23 (Cancelled)
Current mood: drunk
Category: Music
We were a little worn out after the car incident on Monday, and the arrangers in Ockelbo and Falun wouldn't pay for a rental car so we decided to play in Skutskär, the place of a stinking factory, instead. Our friend Anna Frank had some contacts there (go check her out on MySpace) at a place not far from her former flat. Skutskär's close to Gävle and we could get our gear on a bus except Creekblossoms drums. He only had his snare and the bass drum pedal. We arrived early and built a drum set out of junk. We found cans, a car tire which got to be the bass drum and some tin sheets for cymbals. Part of our set worked out fine with the Tom Waitsy percussion, other songs became more funny than good. A local blues cover band entered the stage after us. Payment in food and beer. Mr Distortellini got sick on the bus home and only Mary and Danny went to Lucky Bar.
Set List:
Metal Flower
MSD
Doubt Haunts Hard
Murder
Bittersweet Wicked Ways
Bad Day for the Strip Magician
Rio (cover)
From Bismarck to Mobile

Esrange Space Center Kiruna Aug 20
Current mood: drunk
This was too bad. The Kiruna gig was gonna be the best paid on our tour. Guess what happened? The car broke down north of Sundsvall, and we were stranded on E4 for an hour before we got any help back to Sundsvall. Everything went so slow as it does when you're in a hurry. We called Kiruna and explained the situation, and they said it was a pity, but those things happen. We stayed the night at friends Micke and Jessicas house and got drunk on booze and we played the song we really, really had been looking forward to play in Kiruna: Space Oddity. Their dog didn't like it so it started barking at Danny, so Mr Distortellini started playing Diamond Dogs instead, but that dog obviously doesn't like Bowie songs

Öresundsbron Malmoe/Copenhagen Aug 19
Damn the authorities! Damn, damn, damn!!! After picking up Ove the driver at home we headed down south so Mary and Danny could sleep in the backseat while Mr Distortellini and Ove talked about underrated prog rock bands.
But on arrival there were some difficulties with the permit, the Danish hadn't talked to the Swedish and vice versa, and as it's Sunday no soul was in their office to sort it out. So we didn't get to play.
So we drove into Copenhagen and did an acoustic gig on the street at Ströget, and Ove did a guest appearance on percussion and kazoo and we drew a small, but enthusiastic crowd. We didn't mind the police arriving and asking us to leave cause, hey, we got 25:50 Euros in coins while playing!
Back over the bridge to Sweden and Malmoe where we did the same thing on the streets. We called Mr Distortellinis friends Andreas, Kerstin and Olle who live in the area and they called their friends, so there were some people watching us until the cops arrived again. We only got something like 4 Euros here. We went home to Kerstin and Olle for a late supper, thanx friends, and drove back up north.
Set list (Copenhagen):
Space Oddity (cover)
Heroes (cover)
Doubt Haunts Hard
Oh Boy (cover)
Murder
From Bismarck to Mobile
Rio (cover)
Shooting Star
Bittersweet Wicked Ways
Does Your Mother Know (cover)
MSD (in half tempo)
Sick of Goodbyes (cover)
Like A Bridge Over Troubled Waters (cover, interrupted by the police)
Set list (Malmoe):
MSD (in half tempo)
Doubt Haunts Hard
Bittersweet Wicked Ways
Wichita Lineman (cover)
From Bismarck to Mobile
Bad Day for the Strip Magician
Murder (interrupted by the police)

Ishotellet Jukkasjärvi Aug 18
Current mood: drunk
You know what? There is no ice hotel in Jukkasjärvi mid August. A little disappointment, but we'd like to play here in the constant darkness during winter.
But there were armies of mosquitoes instead of ice. We were kind of tired after the very long drive so it was a relief playing a 30 minute set tucked in between two other bands, one of them an ultra cool hardcore vegan band. We did a Johnny Dowd song, cause Rodney Bailey loves him.
After the gig we even sold some cd-r: s, so we had a luxury hamburger dinner at Max Drive In down in Umeå. Mr Distortellini slept in the backseat while Danny talked and played drums on the dashboard so Mary wouldn't fall asleep while driving. Thank God, we have a friend in Gävle who's gonna drive us down to Malmoe tomorrow, no today actually.

Bittersweet Wicked Ways
Bad Day for the Strip Magician

Haldalla Wrongweek Aug 17
Category: Music
Only a 2, 5 hour drive with Mary behind the wheel to the beautiful Wrongweek in Dalarna. But we were proven to fulfil one of our adjective mottos: "stupid". We thought we were gonna play the stage where Antony & the Jonsons, Elvis Costello and Swedish pop queen Marit Bergman performed this summer. But that's Dalhalla, not Haldalla which is a small book café where they usually have folk artists with fiddles in traditional multicoloured clothing.
We wore black. We are not folk musicians.
The arranger, Anders Wendin, wanted us to play a 75 minute set! Holy shit, we're still babies and our set is something like 40 minutes! But there were two poets, Daniel Gustavsson and Malin Svensson, who were on the stage before us. After some brainstorming Creekblossom came up with the idea of asking if the poets could join us during the instrumental song Metal Flower to do some impro spoken word together. Luckily they were up for it, but that's not 75 minutes. So Mr Distortellini entered the stage alone with guitar and drum machine and played some of his songs and told a somewhat dirty story about a little boy and his dead frog. But this was fun, not a catastrophe as the debut gig of the tour. Mary got some guys throwing flowers from the vases up on the small stage after Shooting Star.
So thanks, Daniel, Malin and Anders (who seems to be a rock'n'roll character who could be a big star someday). We drove home, sober but happy…

Bittersweet Tour Aug 2007
Current mood: drunk
Category: Music
Måsberget Gävle Aug 15
The bad vibes set in during the soundcheck. There were some junior football games close to the outdoor stage. So some annoyed parents said the players couldn't even hear the referees' whistle, the mixing guy lowered the volume which is essential in songs like MSD and Bittersweet Wicked Ways. We asked a sports fanatic dad if he was willing to pay us for playing quietly, but he didn't seem much of a music lover. Well, between two football games we started so for the first three songs we could maintain the noise while the rain started pouring down. A handful of people stood there heroically in the rain while all others left.
By the time of Bad Day the dampness caused our instruments to detune so Rio sounded like shit. We did an encore, an old Sparklehorse song which fitted the weather, but this gig was kind of depressing so we packed our stuff and went down to Lucky Bar to get wasted on cheap beer.
