Eastern Europe
Category: Travel and Places
Talk about walking into History! It was a big circle hitting all the major cities in Eastern Europe.
Vienna Austria, Budapest Hungry, Krakow Poland, Berlin Germany, Prague Czech Replublic and back to Austria.
Vienna is full of great music! Perhaps because that is where Mozart and Bach are found.
The first day we visited the Schonbrunn Palace which was home to the Emperor.

That night we dined in the Vienna Woods at Weingut Heuriger Reinprecht. We got serenaded by the locals. I loved the accordian player!

Hungary has archetectual spendors placed just so, so they will not take away from the beauty of the Danube river. Nature and man working close together.
First we have parliament which we saw from our hotel room on the Pest side of the river. The statue is Lady Liberty which was established 2 years before
they were no longer free. It was a joke to look at during the cold war. The 3rd picture is of Hugarian buildings.
Then we have a nice bridge between the Buda and Pest side of Hungary.

Queen Victoria had 12 daughters. The king didn't believe in battle, but marriage. He would take over lands by marrying off his daughters. Next to it is the
Heroes Square where they celebrate all the men in the wars.

Fisherman's Bashion gives you great views of the Danube and Parliament buildings.

Now we go to Parliament to get a closer look. I like how they value and respect the common job. Here they have statues of common jobs instead of politicions.
They even show this in their parades!

Hungarians LOVE their paprika! We had the most awesome Goulash! Then in town I had fun taking pictures of myself.
Then we are off to Poland. Talk about walking into a fairytale land! Look how cute!
this is called scraffiti.
Poland was my favorite. They have stories of slaying the dragon. Here is a dragon bone! And from our hotel room, isn't this the most perfect scenery!

Now we go to the not so nice part of Poland. The biggest concentration camp of the war. Auschwitz.
Talk about getting a chill down your spine walking down these walkways. The 3rd picture is called the bloody road.

This is where they killed people like animals. Then we get to walk into the gas chamber where the people thought they were going to take a shower. Check out the chimney at the top.
Here is Auschwitz 2 for over capacity. The dreaded train tracks that led them here instead of a better life like promised. Once off the train they were sorted. The able bodied got a few more days to live in horse barns and work.

Now we go to Berlin. To the place where all this mess started.
We got to see parts of the Berlin Wall. As you can see on the ground, they outlined in cobblestone where the wall use to be.
Checkpoint Charle was the only way in and out of the city. Now there is a museum here that shows all the
different ways people tried to escape the city.
