sawin’ bloggs. <3 Chris
Hey,
So we are knee deep in writing , which is weird seeing as we took 3 years to write our first record, hahaaaaaa, but ya we have been rehearsing. Gone are the days of grand rehearsal spaces, in like makeshift churches where we are writing and we have a full sound crew and guitar techs waiting to catch our guitars if we feel like dropping them at any moment, and then ah.. we feel like shooting a video for a song now, and we will call it sweet child o mine, YA we dont get that kind of treatment these days. We have been shacked up in a 12 by 10 room, stuffed on all sides with gear, just HASHING some songs out as they say. It more like a room youd go in if you were commited, with semi gloss white walls, low ceilings. the whole nine. The AC works occasionally , today it went from 70 degrees about to about 90 in 45 mins, I think it happened when we started writing a pretty crazy bridge idea i manifested in my brain. For those in to jud jud, the part would sound something like this. bow, tick, chicka, bow, bow, bow, chicka, bow, chicka, bow ,chicka bow, tick, chicka, bow bow bow, tick, chicka bow, chicka, bow. 4/4 in the key of B flat major. bouncing between Gmin and E flat major.
If you someone can translate that into guitar and record it , i will personally send them the demo version of the song! so awesome
SO ya, like i was saying, were pretty stoked on the new stuff. We have been keeping it prettty open, Since we plan on doing alot of the recording ourselves, we hope to record as much as we can , different types of songs, things we would never try as well as something weve already tried but dont feel we succeeded. Its exciting to be in that position, especially in the current climate of the Music biz.
SO ya, i posted some new pics that our good friend patrick biene has taken over the last 2 years, He basically chronicled our last 2 years, from the albums release to our headlinging tour in the fall. Yøu can see us in all mutational forms, including my favorite, THE FATTY DAYS. The studio and being home in general, Can really take its toll on our GUTS. I cook at least 4 times a week, and im not talking like boxed mac and cheese and frozen hamburgers, im talking Tofu mushroom burgers with fresh made guacamole, BI BIM BAP, LUMPY Macaroni and cheese. The whole nine, maybe ill post a recipe for everyone to try on here soon.
Finally, our friends in the band TAKE THE CROWN Put out their first full length, on Rise records. So if you want to check it out, go to the link at the bottom of the bloggggggg.
thanks and we will begin video updates shortly with all the dick and farts you have come to love from saosin.

wuddup frings!
yo,
So Justin and I(chris) are college students, which may come as a suprise to many, because it specifically says " dont care about learning or knowledge, you already know what you need" in "The rock n roll band guide to life of a rock n roll band" Its located right after the part about banging and snorting everything, and right before the part about neck tattoos.
Anywho, We are students at the Berklee College of Music online. www.berkleemusic.com and while we were on Projekt revolution this summer, They did a little feature on us, which can be see here http://www.berkleemusic.com/welcome/saosin.
The courses are awesome and we have really really learned a lot, for instance, we recently did "youre not alone(piano)" and I wrote all the arrangements for the string peices. i Have never written music in my life, i can barely write the english language, so im really stoked i found a place that could offer me the teachings to broaden my musical potential. If any one wants to see the music i wrote i will posting it on our website soon.
if you dont have time to go to campus college and LOVE music and Learning like us, then for sure check out the school.

Pew Pew
Pew pew,
Just wanted to say thanks to all of YOU! the Fans, supporters of Saosin, the LIFES BLOOD. It's because of you that we are able to take steps (maybe even leaps?) like putting out this DVD, hell, like writing you a letter from Singapore!! After being on the road for almost two years, we wanted to capture some of those things you guys have made possible, so we called some friends, worked our asses off, drank from sacred conch of a fourteen legged octopus and BAM! the result was, COME CLOSE.
The DVD has a full live concert we did in Philly, lighting, sound and smelly dudes included. Also, a videos section with all the music videos we made, some you may have never seen, as well as a behind the scenes look at the videos for "You're Not Alone" and "Voices". There is also another EP we did which has some live tracks as well as some alternate takes on some Saosin songs, Old and NEW.
Again, maybe you hear it everyday from other bands you support, but the truth is YOU guys are the only reason we are able to do this. Bands are breaking up left and right, and somehow our tiny vessel is able to stay afloat across this raging sea. Sappy poetic metaphor: CHECK. Thanks everyone and if you find the time check out "COME CLOSE" and let us know what you think.
To wong foo Thanks for everything
Chris SAOSIN aka Julie newmar
P.s. If you come to Singapore, try the Durian fruit, its to DIE for! ;) rofl copter
