FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Nashville Blog "GearTrap.com" announces World's Largest Pedalboard
Local Musicians invited to enter the Record Books
Nashville, TN. – Local guitar gear blog "GearTrap.com" announced today that they are commissioning the world's largest pedalboard to be unveiled at their June 18th Pre-NAMM party. Jaux King, purveyor of the blog, which covers musical instruments and musical accessories gave few details, but made it clear that the ball is rolling on the event. "We currently have people looking into the idea with Guinness. We have officially applied with them and research is being done to ascertain exactly what resources will be needed to make it happen," King said. The idea came to him and fellow blogger and local radio personality Aljon Go while the two were brainstorming for ways to promote the blog. "We were laughing and joking around about it and then began to realize how cool it would be, so we decided to go for it." According to King, the general premise will involve local musicians donating the use of their pedalboards for the event. "We're going to need lots of help on this from Nashville musicians of every genre. Our goal is to make this record stick for years to come," said King, adding that it would be a great chance for Local musicians and Nashville in general to garner some much deserved attention. "The Music scene around here is so healthy and vibrant. It would be really gratifying to accomplish something like this with the help of our friends and peers." While the details are still being ironed out at this point, one thing is for sure- This will be an event to remember. In addition to enlisting help from its musicians, some of Nashville's very own gear companies are also being tapped to help out. "There are some minor hurtles that we have to overcome, but with the generous help of some of the people and brands that we have in mind, we are supremely confident that we can make this a success." GearTrap is currently taking submission and sponsorship inquiries through their email: geartrap@gmail.com . Additionally, those interested in the event or in participating can keep up with the latest by going to GearTrap.com, which is updated daily and will have news on the "World's Largest Pedalboard" event as well as articles, reviews and information about all things "gear".
Check it out- if you're into gear (guitar, bass, keyboard, etc), then check out my new gear blog. I'll including the latest news on the coolest gear in addition to some reviews and cool links.
Check out my "COMPS" folder in my pics. These are some art projects i’ve been working on lately. I’ll probably be posting more soon. Let me know what you guys think...
Here's the thing- I'm seeing/hearing/reading again all these people run their mouths on the internet regarding the Local Buzz awards. I think it's funny for a few reasons... what are they? I'm glad you asked:
1. It's not Aljon's fault that your band sucks. Just because you wouldn't know networking or professionalism (or a PRESS KIT) if they both bit you in the ass doesn't make that his fault. wipe your nose, pull up you pants and get the fuck over it.
2. It's not Aljon's fault that the engineer you "hired" (aka- i let him rent free videos from me @ Blockbuster and he records our shit in his mom's basement) couldn't engineer his way out of parking ticket. If you people had any sense, you'd be out networking with decent engineers instead of at home crying about what a failure you are and then getting pissed at the Local Buzz for not playing your piss poor recordings.
3. It's definetely not Aljon's fault that one shit-for-brains named his band "Mediocre" nor is it his fault that you advertise it like you're proud of it...? Even IF the word mediocre didn't mean "wow- this crap is going nowhere", it would still be a shit fucking band name... If you need help with that, i know a three year old that could seriously do better...
If you're seriously gonna knock a guy that gives some much of his free time and energy to this scene with nothing in return, then i've got news for you- Aljon's out of your league. You kid yourself everyday of your life by letting yourself believe that your band kicks ass and that everyone ELSE is to blame for the fact that no one knows it. OR you make a MINOR BLIP on the local rock radar by having a lame band, putting on lame shows, and then talking shit about a scene to which you're obsolete. However, as soon as the Nixons, Jimmys, Jauxs, and everyone else that GETS IT shows up to someone's defense, you back peddle like the little pussies you are...
Internet douchebag: "Fuck Aljon!!!"
Someone who gets it: "Aljon's cool- here's why..."
Internet douchebag: "yea- i know Aljon's cool, i didn't 'mean it THAT way'..."
Believe me- i can respect an opposing view point- but what i can't respect is when someone who's obviously a coward anyway, talks shit about something they know NOTHING about and then when they're corrected, they back peddle and try to twist it around and make it sound like they meant it in a good way...
By the Way- the shit for brains that wrote this can get fucked:
"I wouldn't be surprised if Aljon gave himself the lifetime achievement award. Nashville's local scene deserves a better ambassador."
I know who you are and so do you and you're a piece of shit- there's my two cents.
I'll be at the Exit/In Friday, doing MY part... it's $10 at the door... if any of you would like pull yourselves away from your computers, untuck your dicks from between your legs, and come backstage for a chat, you're welcome to.
Funny Anti-Hilliary/Anti-spelling guy tells it like it is!
i found this... seriously...

This will SHOW you. It's a simulation designed to educate the American public on what waterboarding is and why it's a major point of debate right now. Should this considered torture? You decide...Make sure to read the comments below the vid... some are very informed...
Activists Stage Waterboarding Outside Justice Dept. On the eve of the vote, activists with the group World Can't Wait gathered in front of the Justice Department Monday to demonstrate an actual waterboarding. Twenty-six year old Iranian-American Maboud Ebrahimzadeh volunteered as the mock terror suspect. Activists posing as interrogators poured several quarts of water into his mouth while a cloth was placed over his face. He was in visible pain as the waterboarding proceeded.
Maboud Ebrahimzadeh: "This is easily the most terrifying experience I've ever had, ever felt, and although it's a controlled environment when water goes into your lungs and you want to scream and you can't, cause you know as soon as you do, you are going to choke." After the demonstration, anti-torture activist Clark Kissinger said waterboarding should only be seen as a form of torture. Clark Kissinger: "Today we wanted to put together an actual demonstration of what waterboarding means when it is conducted by this government to people around the world. There seems to be some confusion in the media about this. Some people like to refer to this as an enhanced interrogation technique. It is not an enhanced interrogation technique. It is torture." Meanwhile, twenty-four former U.S. intelligence officials are urging Senate Judiciary members not to back Mukasey's nomination until he declares his position on waterboarding. In a letter released Monday, the ex-officials write: "We are aware that the president warned last week that it will be either Mukasey as our attorney general or no one. So be it."
FEMA’s fake news conference... Good Job FEMA... idiots.
On Tuesday, FEMA staged a fake press conference with agency staffers posing as news reporters. One FEMA staffer who pretended to be a journalist has since been promoted to become head of public affairs at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. [includes rush transcript] The Department of Homeland Security acknowledged Friday that the Federal Emergency Management Agency, or FEMA, had staged a fake press conference Tuesday with agency staffers posing as news reporters. Their acknowledgement, as well as an apology from FEMA officials, followed a Washington Post report that exposed the staged event. FEMA had only given reporters 15 minutes notice for Tuesday's press conference. A toll-free telephone line allowed reporters to listen to the proceedings, but not to pose any questions. This is an excerpt of the faux press conference where FEMA staff asked their boss Harvey Johnson, the FEMA Deputy Administrator, scripted and friendly questions.
FEMA "Press Conference" Homeland Security chief Michael Chertoff sharply rebuked FEMA on Saturday and called the staged news briefing "one of the dumbest and most inappropriate things I've seen." White House Spokeswoman Dana Perino also addressed questions about this at her news briefing on Friday. White House press briefing Diane Farsetta is a senior researcher at the Center for Media and Democracy. She coordinates the Center's "No Fake News" campaign. She joins me now on the phone from Madison, Wisconsin. Diane Farsetta, senior researcher at the Madison, Wisconsin-based Center for Media and Democracy. FEMA Official Loses Promotion After Fake News Conference The fallout continues from last week's fake news conference held by FEMA during the California wild fires. One of the FEMA officials who posed as a reporter during the fake press conference has been denied a scheduled promotion. John Philbin was supposed to leave FEMA last week for a new job as the director of public affairs for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. But a DNI spokesperson announced on Monday Philbin would not be taking the new post after all.
STATE DEPARTMENT GRANTS IMMUNITY TO BLACKWATER GUNMEN!!!
Current mood: distressed
this is seriously a disgrace. we all need to be writing to congress on this one... unbelievable...
From DemocracyNow.org:
State Dept Gives Immunity to Blackwater Forces Government officials have revealed that the Blackwater forces involved in last month's deadly shooting in Baghdad have been secretly given immunity by the State Department. Officials said the immunity deal has undermined efforts to prosecute anyone from Blackwater for the deaths of the 17 Iraqi civilians killed on Sept. 16. The immunity deal has also delayed a criminal inquiry into the shootings. The State Department's Bureau of Diplomatic Security gave immunity to all of the Blackwater guards involved in the killings even though they did not have the authority to do so. The director of the state department's diplomatic security bureau, Richard Griffin, resigned last week. The New York Times reports prosecutors at the Justice Department had no advance knowledge of the immunity deal.
I think it's good to see the Iraqi government asserting itself for once; and they couldn't have picked a better time to do it. If you don't already know- Blackwater is a private corporation charged with guarding US officials and interests in Iraq (Ambassador Ryan Crocker for one, US convoys for another). In essence, it's a Mercenary force that, due to legislation enacted by guess who, are not only given free reign to shoot now and ask questions later, but are also granted immunity to do so. Last week, Blackwater employees allegedly fired on innocent civilians killing at least eleven. Included in this number were a mother and young child. Their car had incinerated by some sort of grenade and their bodies were burned together (sorry to be graphic, but that's the way it happened). Below is a short summary of the incident and the subsequent Iraqi response.
........................................
Lawmaker: State Dept. Hindering Blackwater Probe The State Department is being accused of blocking a key Congressional probe into the private military firm Blackwater USA. On Tuesday, House oversight chair Henry Waxman said the State Department had told Blackwater not to turn over documents without prior approval. Blackwater is under scrutiny after its forces killed at least eleven civilians last week in Baghdad. It's also under investigation for alleged weapons smuggling into Iraq. The State Department called Waxman's complaint a "misunderstanding."
Iraqi Interior Ministry Proposes Ending Contractor Immunity Meanwhile the Iraqi Interior Ministry has drafted legislation that would revoke the immunity of private military firms operating in Iraq.
Interior Ministry spokesperson Abdul Karim Khalaf: "The Ministry of Interior has submitted legislation to the State Shura Council and it will be passed to the parliament. This legislation will cover everything to do with these companies. The companies will come under the grip of Iraqi law and will be monitored by the Ministry of Interior and will work under its supervision. They will be strictly punished for anything on the street as we will put certain guidelines to the work of these companies." Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has called the Blackwater case "a serious challenge to the sovereignty of Iraq." White House aides say Maliki briefly discussed Blackwater in a meeting with President Bush at the UN on Tuesday.
