New Years Goals
Current mood: relaxed
Category: Life
Welcome to another exciting year. I recently asked a friend of mine if he had made any New Years Resolutions. His response was a simple, "I don't believe in New Years Resolutions....I call them New Years Goals." It seems that the tradition of the New Years Resolution has turned into nothing but a tradition of piled up broken promises. And there's nothing worse than making an empty promise to yourself. There are two types of people in this world....those who have made empty promises.... and those who lie. So.... I have decided to jump on board with my friend and call them "New Years Goals." The clean fresh start. No more resolutions. Just.....Goals! My first New Years Goal is to write more. Whether it be songs, poems, blogs, obituaries, or even graffiti on the Murphy Road train trestle. Anything counts.....even words of wisdom on a public bathroom wall. My second NYG (New Years Goal) is to get rid of the "two spaces after the period" rule. A colleague of mine pointed out that one space is more aesthetically pleasing. And of course that's just an opinion. But the more I analyzed the situation, which is what it had become, the more I leaned towards the "one space after the period." Back in my high school typing class, I had to use the two space rule, to get the grade (the same typing class where Miss Ruff hit me in the head with a textbook for falling asleep). But times have changed.......the one space just feels better. If you have not yet converted to one space after the period, I highly recommend it. It is more visually and mentally satisfying. As a matter of fact I'm using this method right now as I type. Anyways, Happy New Year and don't forgot to make a goal....and possibly try out the one space method. Cheers!
