Penny Dreadful / Graveyards and Mystery Hill
Category: Writing and Poetry

Ok, so we're about to hit the 1 week anniversary of our "visit" with Penny Dreadful.  We arrived At Mystery Hill / ..:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />America's Stonehenge in the late morning, and scouted out some shots that would be good sans the director…yeah that worked out well for us.

..:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Anyway, for those not in the know, Shadows Over New England is going to be featured on the season premier of Penny Dreadful's Shilling Shockers.  Penny is a 600 year old with and like other horror hosts, she puts her spin and fun comments on these truly awful movies.  I won't give away too much detail about what the movie was, but lets just say its in the next book, Shadows Over Florida.  Go and visit Penny's site at www.shillingshockers.com

We spend a good six hours up there shot a few scenes with Penny, did a nice segment on the book, and got some plugs in for Trailer Trash and for David's books "America's Stonehenge" being one of them…The other one's name is far too long to type.

So look for us on New England local cable in October.  You can also check out Mystery Hill at http://www.stonehengeusa.com/

In other news, we took another couple story for Traps!  And that's all for now.

I have pics that I'll post in a few days...

Cusping once more!
Category: Writing and Poetry

Ok, so I decided to start this thing up again and maybe I won't be so long between editions of it.

Dave and I are knee deep in the next chapter of the non-fiction business, Shadows Over Florida for more info etc on the first book Shadows Over New England go here: www.shadows-over.com

We've been watching all the god-awful exploitation-alligator-swamp monster movies.  And doing lots of networking for fiction based in Florida.

Shadows Over New England is at the presses and if I'm not mistaken printed.  So run over to Bear Manor and pre-order it now, yes, RIGHT NOW! for free shipping.  http://bearmanormedia.bizland.com/

We're also working on lining up some appearances over the summer and fall.

The Traps! antho is very close to being finished.  Had a couple late acceptences and all along we've been throwing stories back and forth between Traps and other antho from Dark Hart, Terrible Beauty.  Both will be out mid-late summer.

That'll do it!

Cusp no more
Category: Writing and Poetry

Sorry for the delay between posts!

Shadows Over New England is "in the can" coming in at 120k+ words and roughly 400 pages.  The ARC is going to press and review copies will be going out pretty soon.  The official release date is 4/29/08.  We got some very cool blurbs from T.M. Wright, Jack Ketchum and Stephen Bissette and David Hedison.

Bear Manor Media dug the book so much that they want David and I to do a series of them.  So next in line is Shadows Over Florida - there's enough material (so far) for the stae to have its own volume.  We already have over 100 entries and thats just movies.

The next  book following Florida will be the Mid-Atlantic NY, PA, MD, DE, DC and NJ.  NYC will have its own book as well...  at least that's the plan.

Trailer Trash is back at the publisher for the re-re-revised version and the Traps Anthology is coming close to being finished.  The first batch of stories are out for edits or at the grammar police.  Still choosing some stories filtering in to me from the other Dark hart antho Terrible Beauty.

That's all for now.

Cuspyness
Current mood: awake
Category: Writing and Poetry

The book is so close to being finished....  It;s going to be in the 105K word count range.  We have the first blurb from actor David Hedison and have other feelers out for a few others that I'm working on.  David is proof reading and sneaking in new entries whilst he thinks my damn back is turned.  The newest entry is awesome and there's no way I could say no to it.  More editing, more proof reading and we'll start sending it to Bear manor for their editors to do their thing with.

The antho is moving along excellant. have about 90 subs so far, always looking for more that play with the theme.  www.darkhart.com for the guidelines.  The slots in the antho are starting to fill up and I still have a mess of stories to re-read and make a decision on.

As if I wasn't reading enough I also agreed to be a judge in the "New Voices" contest sponsored by EPIC.  Which is a writing competition for kids from middle school to high school age.  I did it last year and it was a lot of fun so I volunteered again this year.

Still on the cusp...
Current mood: hyper
Category: Writing and Poetry

The non-fic book is now hovering at about 100K words.  my part in it aside from proofreading and spotchecking is prettu much done.  David is plowing through some Charles Grant Greystone Bay anthos.  Normally we'd give them a generic listing but there's some killer names in there, Waggoner, Bloch just to name a couple.  He's being very particular...no comment :)  The Cover is finished and brilliant, we had some last minute changes to it and we'll be looking for "blurbs" in a couple months once the publisher says yay or nay.  Now its doing the back cover summary, and getting photo release forms signed etc.  We're also making a few last minute changes as we go.  So hopefully we'll be done in a week or two since we're now fairly far past the original deadline.  But the folks at Bear Manor are being severely cool about it.  Our grammar nazi is also working overtime (Thanks Diane!)

And I've been sending out mass quantities of Trailer Trash for reviews.  Sent out over a dozen copies in the past 10 days or so.

Thats all for now

On the Cusp
Category: Writing and Poetry

Well, its been a long arse road, but we're finally on the cusp of finishing the non-fiction book.  We're almost at 80K word total and the finally word tally should be in the 90K range.  What started off as something totally differant than what we're working on now, is coming down to the proofing and editing stages.  Chapter photos are in the works, the cover is almost finished, and waiting on the foreword now.  Seems like the closer we get to the end, the more listings we find we need.  David is still working the Lovecraft aspect, and we just discovered about a 1/2 dozen of Charles Grant books that are currently in transit to me.  Going to feel strange when we finally put this beast to bed.  Now its just a matter of figuring out what I want to read and write next.

Non-Fiction
Category: Writing and Poetry

My Brother and I just passed the 70K mark in the non-fiction book we're writing.  it's pretty much grind time, since the book is due to the publisher in a few short weeks.  We still have stacks of novels and movies and short stories to go through.  I just received another 2 dozen through email, and am still fighting the urge to go through the special edition, signed limited release of Four Octobers to check for references.  Never quite knew how tedious non-fiction could be until we started this project.  Going to NECON next weekend, its a 2 1/2 day writer's conference in Rhode Island.  Should be fun despite the fact it's Rhode Island.
