It begins...
Current mood: animated
Well here goes. After years of thinking about the characters and plots, sketching and writing disjointed swirled and upsidedown notes in my little notebook, the script is complete and I have begun production.
My little girl is finally old enough to let me work without endangering herself. I set up a tiny table for her in my workroom and she has playdoh and cooky cutters while I have sculpey and wire. She finally understands that hot glue guns and x-acto knives are not for her to touch.
I have six adult characters to make of the white variety with the red beaks and one baby creature, then I move on to the set and props for the first scenes. My goal is to shoot the live action opening and start the animation for the meadow where the red beaked ones live this summer in our big garage! Then I will come back into my heated workroom for the winter to make the rest of the characters. Then back out to build in the spring, shoot in the summer and fall....and so on like this for a few years until it is complete.
Mark Growden is on board to do the music for this one too and I am very excited to be working with him again.
To date, the last missing link in this little chain leading to my release date of 2012 is funding. So all of you who hope to see this movie in 5 years say a little prayer, burn a little candle or do a dance or chant or whatever suits your mood...to your personal diety or the universe that funding will come my way. Also, suggest to your friends, colleagues, public and university libraries, video stores and anyone who may be interested that buying a DVD of Blood Tea and Red String would be a great idea!
Every little bit helps!
