Maddie McCann
Category: News and Politics

I get bent out of shape and rant and rave about all sorts of stuff, but maddie3.jpgthis is one story that almost made me cry. Perhaps it's because I have three children myself, one of whom is four years old herself.

Last Thursday three year old Maddie McCann disappeared, most like abducted, from her bed in an apartment in Portugal. She and her younger brother and sister as well as their parents were on vacation. Her parents do like most parents and check on their kids every twenty or thirty minutes.

When her mother checked on them at 10PM she discovered that the window was open and Maddie was missing. A witness claims to have seen a bald man and a woman walking quickly away from the area with a young blond girl. Portuguese Police are suggesting that it is possible that Maddie was abducted for a pedophile ring. Just the thought of it makes me want to cry or perhaps go shoot one of those stupid pedophiles.

Thanks to Princesse Ecossaise for the story and the links. Since my blogs are all US based I may be of no help whatsoever, but this story really touches me and anything that I can do to help is still very little. I also got the picture from her site as well.

I am going to cross-post this at all of my sites, www.shadowscope.com, www.theapp.net, newhomessales.net, and blogs.myspace.com/shadowscope and since he is out of town I will post this over at Eric's place as well.

Confirmation

I did get confirmation of my promotion from my AVP today and found out who my replacement is going to be. One of the district managers from Alabama who has been there twice and stepped back twice will be taking my store. This is the guy that was trying to get transferred back to Georgia to that district. They told him that he could either honor his commitment and stay in his current position, or take a demotion. He does have the potential to be a great operator, and is much better with the customers than I am, but he doesn't have the stability and commitment to stay in the job long term. I think that they are looking to fire him anyway, but that's just my own opinion anyway.

I spent a couple of hours with one of my new managers this afternoon and all I can really say is that I have my work cut out for me. It looks like at least a month or two of twelve hour days are ahead of me and it is probably going to take me six months to get all three stores right. What a PITA. Then I find out that we probably have an outing coming up in May or June, which means spending the weekend at some bullshit retreat with all of the upper management. Woopee. That should be interesting.

Net Radio
Current mood: tired

After my previous post concerning Internet Radio and the fact that it is going to cost Internet broadcasters tons more money than over-the-air I sent my senators and congressman an email concerning it and got back canned email messages basically stating that it is an FCC problem and that there is no legislative action that they could take.

Well guess what, there IS legislative action. It is called H.R. 2060 The Internet Radio Equality Act. I just sent my congressman Phil Gingrey an email asking him to co-sponsor it and it bounced. I'll get over to his web site later this weekend and send him the link from there I suppose.

Anyway, I got this email from a list I am on:

Thank you for your support of the SaveNetRadio campaign. As you know, the future of internet radio is in serious jeopardy. Your letter to your Congressional representatives has led Congress to take action, and a bill that could save Net radio has been introduced.

The "Internet Radio Equality Act ", H.R. 2060, is being considered by Congress right now, and we ask that you take a moment to call your Congressperson to ask them to co-sponsor this legislation.

To find the phone number for your Congressional representative, visit http://capwiz.com/saveinternetradio/home/and enter your zip code.

Your opinion matters to your representatives, and it matters to us. Without your support this bill could not have been introduced and without your continued support it cannot be passed.

Visit SaveNetRadio.org to continue following the fight to Save Internet Radio.

Thank you,

The SaveNetRadio Coalition

Even if you don't listen to a lot of "radio" over the Internet this is an inequality that needs to be addressed and it would be nice if everyone that reads this emails their representative.

Cross-Posted at Shadowscope, theapp.net, and my MySpace page. This is also my Talladega Race weekend open track-back post for April 27th-30th.

Site Templates

I finally got my main site, Shadowscope.com working properly. I changed to a new template two days ago of my own design, and while it looked and worked fine on the test blog, it was hosed.
I have got it working properly again, and just need to do a little tweaking and change the fonts.

I may start posting a few payperpost ads here and there on this blog the next month or so once it gets approved. Since I only post here semi-regularly I don't even know if I have hit the post count yet. I believe I've had the site for about a year, but only posted a few blogs. We'll see. I will have to start adding a few friends and build up some readers first.

Days Off
Current mood: accomplished
Category: Jobs, Work, Careers

It's been a couple of pretty nice days. Yesterday was a pain in the rear. I ended up making two trips to the dentist to get my bottom plate fixed, but it was well worth it.

I've done quite a bit of posting at my main site (Shadowscope) as well as several at the other ones, so i didn't want to feel like I was negelecting this one :)

I picked up several plants at Wal-Mart yesterday and I have a couple more paid posts to do at my main site, at which point I am going outside to play in the dirt for awhile.

Too Early to be thinking
Current mood: sleepy
Category: Jobs, Work, Careers

I've been working my job for over twenty years and I don't think that I will ever get used to the fact that I have to get up so early in the morning. My biggest problem is that days like today, I didn't go to bed until after midnight last night so I am operating on about four hours sleep on top of having to get up at 3AM yesterday.

Two more days until a day off. W00t.

Promotion
Category: Jobs, Work, Careers

...and it looks like I am getting it, but I still don't know what the timing is going to be. They have to find someone to fill my spot first. Could be two days, could be two months.

Category: Jobs, Work, Careers

When are we going to finally get our shit together and repeal the federal income tax. Make it just another day. It's April 17th, Tax Day this year for those that didn't know and all of our taxes have to be filed by midenight. What a pain in the butt.

Server Status
Current mood: aggravated
Category: Web, HTML, Tech

Unfortunately my main blog, Shadowscope is down along my theapp.net and Miles Business Blog. Even my provider's site livingdot.com is down. I can get to their support site and dns servers but the main ones are unnaccesible. I am not very happy, but it must be something pretty important. I suppose that gives me time to do some other stuff anyway. I have several posts that I have to do for Payu2blog anyway.

Today was a pretty damn long day. My cook never showed up for work so after about ten one of my waitresses hopped on the grill with me for the rest of the day.

One of the district managers is apparently leaving. His last day is Monday. They haven't yet approached me about it yet, but I am going to take the district if they ask me this time.
