how are ya'll doin'? sorry i've been away for a bit and thanx to all of you who've been checkin' up on me...
i was thinkin' about writing some songs inspired by you guys ;) so... if you guys were interested in me writing a song based on something you'd like to hear about, let me know. For example, if you wanted a song written about a breakup .... or a song about dancing ... or whatever- i'll try writing that sort of song for you. If you're more choosy about what kind of song you'd like, also let me know the style of song that you'd like me to produce it in.. --- > / if i do decide to write something based on one of your suggestions, i might possibly make a video of it as i write and try composing it on the spot- a sort of "behind-the-scenes" video so you can see how i work...

hey guys... i accidentally removed one of my old blog entries from the past which kinda detailed all the recent dreams i had for my future... but after checkin' out my fave Dance/Pop group's MySpace page, i realized that, not only should i share those thoughts with you guys again... but i also realized... i want this mfn* ;p album! ;)
so... before i go on with the dreams i have for "when i grow up" ;)... please go and check out Doll Domination! i so want this...
my faves btw are, of course, "when i grow up", "i hate this part", "out of this club", and "happily never after"...
this album, along with some other stuff are on my WISHLIST . . . . . . . . . . . ;) "cuz... all that's on my wishlist is..." haha ... okay, so your love is not the only thing i want l0l ... but um, what can i say? ;)

okay, so on to my dreams for... "when i grow up" ;p
okay,
1) i guess my 1st dream for the moment is that
all of my fans will continue to stay with me
as i continue to evolve into my own sound...
while everything i've done up to this point is definitely a part of me (and really showcases some types of the music that i like) ...
through time (and you know i've been doing this for a while now ;) ... all of the experiences that i have been going through have helped shape me as an artist and has helped me to really kind of learn on-the-job what actually my true sound is and what i actually want to do as a performer...
for example, when i first started recording, i never initially thought to record dance music. though i do have a love for dance music (with it being, probably, my fave music as a youngster), by the time i was a young teen, i became more interested in doing mainstream Pop and R&B music.
however, when i first started recording, the producer that i 1st started working with suggested that i try recording some Dance/Freestyle music and so i did... i began writing some Dance oriented songs that still incorporated my love for Pop and R&B music and that's how my 1st single "Hard to Get" came about...
when it came time to record my 1st album, i then felt that i wanted to connect with those fans who had learned to love me from that 1st single and so i decided to make my 1st album for them... and kind make it to be some sort of an introduction to who i am...
when it came time to record the 2nd album "Nighttime Land", i realized how important it was for me to start showcasing my other loves, which, like i said, are more of a mainstream Pop and R&B type of music and that's why i made sure to include songs like "Boys Will Be Boys" and "Don'tcha Know" and even "U Love Me Good"...
on top of that, on both albums, i also knew it was important to reveal my love for acoustic music (or, just, you know- record simply with piano/keyboards and vocals)... and that is why i made sure to include UNCOVERED versions...
after years of doing both Dance and Acoustic music, though, i realized that i feel most comfortable performing while singing and playing... and that, i can hear more of who i am as an artist when i perform that way so... i know that in the future, i am definitely going to go in that direction and i really hope that my fans will stick with me and support me as i continue to mold myself...
i really feel like i have finally come into my own skin... and i say that without taking away anything that i've done in the past... i really feel like doing everything i've done and making everything i've made... has only helped me to find myself and so i am extremely thankful for every experience... because i realize that it helped me to see who i truly am and also... who i'm not... and so... i couldn't ask for things to go any other way...
so yeh, that's my 1st dream... ;)
2)
to continue writing albums all on my own...
... i know that's not really a huge dream... but... it's a dream nevertheless... and... it's something that is important to me... as far as i can remember... i always recalled wanting to have the opportunity to write all of my albums by myself, you know? to have that creative control... =) and um, that is the reason why i honestly wanted to start out on an independent label... because i knew that if i were to sign with an indie, that... i would have more of that sort of opportunity and with Planet Hype, i definitely had that. here at PH, i definitely had people believing in me and my music and they have always given me the luxury of being more than just a singer but also "the" songwriter... and you know, co-producer... all these things that help me to really give out what i want to give out at a particular time so... yeh, i don't want things to change ;) i really want to give myself the challenge of trying to make a song on my own which will affect those who listen to me or who are just starting to listen to me...
i've really gone through a lot in my journey as an artist and i know i have an immeasurable amount to share with people and... for me, i enjoy it the most when i can share things through song... so i just remain faithful that the music just keeps playing and that you know, uh, that... i will really have the opportunity to touch people on a really huge level... but yeh, point of dream: to continue challenging myself to create something better than i ever thought i could... by myself ;p
3) my 3rd dream is a BIG dream... and it is to make a
7x Grammy award winning album
. haha. i know things like this probably shouldn't be shared haha... but... who is it gonna hurt if i share my dreams with the people that i luv & the people that luv me back, right? like i said before, if you want something in life, you have to know it, believe in it, want it and work hard towards getting yourself in that situation. i have made so many of my own dreams come true already and i will use every day of my life to continue making my dreams come true and to help inspire others to continue making their dreams come true. what is life without a dream, a love, and a song? all i know is... my life has always tasted better with all those things in it and so... that's what i'm gonna do. LOVE. DREAM. SING. (the three characters on my ankle tattoo, FYI) ;p
4) my 4th dream is a simple dream and it is just that i will
always have my good friends and good family close by me
no matter how this musical journey of mine goes... in life, success is never as wonderful without the right people by your side and i have been fortunate to have so many beautiful loves in my life... that, yeah, i just want that to continue... because i don't want to lose sight of what is important in life... and i don't want others to ever change even though my life is continuously changing...
5) my 5th and final dream that i will share with you guys today... is that i would love to
start my own fragrance line...
;) i absolutely adore fragrance more than any other sort of business (besides music, of course) and so i would love the opportunity to create a whole bunch of fragrances of my own. like, with my music, though, i would really want to be in charge and have a say in the scents that i'd like to use, the design of the bottle, the ad campaign, etc. etc. but yeh, i really hope to have my own line of fragrances sold at places like Macy's and Nordstrom's... but of course, only as a celebrity line. haha... i don't just want to sell my own perfumes without being known as a musician 1st... cuz... music is my 1st love... and that is what i will always focus on most....
so... those are all my dreams for "when i grow up"... ;p ... as ya'll know i'm still a youngster ;p and... like i did in my previous blog like this one, i would love for ya'll to come in here and share with me your dreams of what you'd like to be and do "when you grow up". for reals.... you know, i am the Queen of Dreamers ;) haha and um, i want you all to take time out to share with the world who you are and what you aim to accomplish in your life... thanx!
btw, the little brat doll ;p in me is feeling really spoiled right now. haha ;) and so i am going to leave my WISHLIST here in case anyone feels like spoiling me L0L you know, for an early christmas ... i know. i am such a nerd, huh? but forreals, i have this purse/shoe obsession for the moment that needs to be tended to haha... so, thanks in advance to anyone and everyone who's spoiled me in the past and... present and... future! you make me feel so luvvvvved. *muah!*

hey guys,
how are you all doing? as for me, i'm doing wonderful, thank you. working on writing some music for other artists and of course... continuing to write music for myself...
so... anyways, as i continue to move on in my journey as an artist, i thought that it was important for me to learn how you guys see me as an artist. what words come into your mind as you think of my style? and how do you perceive me and the music that i do?
as i have a truly wide range of musical tastes and musical influences, i wonder if you guys notice that. looking at myself as a Singer/Songwriter ever since i was 12 years old, i am curious as to whether or not you guys see me as the person that i see myself as...
i'm pretty sure i tell you guys this all the time (as ... i am pretty OC about certain things) ;) haha ... so... i guess... it is just important for me to know how you guys look at me so that i can make sure that i am presenting myself in the way that I feel best represents me.
i know, for a fact, that i haven't yet showcased all that I am... but up to this point, i still think it is necessary for me to see that we are pretty much on the same page ;) or at least ... semi-close ;) haha so... when you have a moment, i would appreciate it if you could post a little message here and let us know what you think my musical style is and what you think makes me different as an artist or as an individual.
in life, it is so important to know who you are and to express who you truly are... and I want to always have your support in allowing myself to be me... in my life, it is my aim to always produce the music that I feel best exemplifies what I need to release from my soul... at that particular moment in time...

how is everyone doing in their nighttime land? as for me, i am doing absolutely lovely... thank you ;)
still "always dreamin" ... as i've been since my 1st album...
but at the same time... enjoying the fruits of my labor as i'm finally soaking up how excited everyone has been in regards to the release of the new album (& it's new "sister" album ;p Karaoke Nighttime Land!!!) Go on witchur bad selves, singin' my jams =)
so.... it's been a long time since i have regulary been on my *space and so ... i'm hoping to make this entry a good one. hahaha.... but knowing me, it's probably gonna be another sleeper, huh? l0l... hmm.... yeh probably. shawee...
so, let's see... 1st things 1st... i just got word that the CONTEST that we've been throwing on my YouTube Channel UP IN MY ROOM just got a recent update... and that is that the deadline has changed to October 1st. I asked what the reasons for the change was... and they said that there was some confusion in the guidelines so... they had to extend it. For the complete story, check the link

i love what one entry did with the song. i absolutely fell in love with it and you know, was just so proud and inspired... and this other one, i was just so ... enamored and like, so flattered to see someone have so much fun and you know, really bring an innocence to my music so... to the people who have joined the contest already... i truly, truly commend you. thank you guys so much for having fun with this contest and being brave, brave souls. i can imagine how nerve-wracking it may be to compete ... especially when it comes to music but... you guys really showed ambition and fun... and that's what i like... so thanks!!!!

We're gearing up for the last single on the album to be released... and I'm really excited about that because it is everybody's favorite for all-around listening so . . . it's gonna be fun!!!! be on the lookout for that and whatever else we might jam pack with it...
so... as i've said before, i know i kind of lag a little on updating my sites, etc. etc. so... i was wondering if you guys had any ideas of what you might like me to do more often or ... you know just any ideas on what you guys would like to see more of... please take time to let us know so that we can try and bring that to you... as... we do do all of this for your guys' pleasure ;) and want to make sure that we're doing things to the best of our capabilities.

i ask this because... i think it's important to know what your fans think of you and want from you as... you want to be aware of their hearts and you know, give as much as you can to their desires while trying to remain true to yourself and reveal your creativity
i know i say this all the time but... i hope that you guys always understand my musical soul and that um... you know, i do have such a vast musical taste and really want to feel comfortable in not just exploring who I am as an artist but also ... just being who I am as an artist.
ah. i think i should delve deeper into this topic on a Vlog so... we'll leave that for now ;p
oh... and regarding how I would describe myself musically, i guess should leave that for you guys in a vlog, too. yeah, cuz... who knows? we might have totally different ideas on who Sharyn Maceren actually is... so , i guess it would be a good thing if we can kind of sorted that out ;) or just learn a little bit more about how we see things and each other...
i just want to take some time out to say how much i luv u guys. you guys are absolute sweethearts and i am blessed to have fans like you guys who love me the way you do. i know, we still have a long way to go to take things to the top and you know, make it all the way to MTV status ;p but... I really hope that you guys will stay with me forever on this journey no matter which route I take . . . and know that, even if I don't necessarily do exactly what you expect me to do, that I won't forget your luv and ... ya know... will make the effort to try and do what you guys want when the time is right for me. (scratching head) don't know if you guys understand what I'm saying but... just lookin' ahead...
but yeh... if any of you guys can find ways to help promote and spread the word, doing whatever you guys do (tell a friend, send a link, make a video, buy the album *of course, you know, whatever...) your support will mean the difference- i know. so please don't stop doin' whatever you're doin... and please don't forget to start spreadin' more luv if you can... because.... i am filled with so much music and passion and energy and i want you guys to ride this ride with me!!! together, this journey can be more fun than it would be if i just automatically got from Point A to Point B. i have faith that, in time, we're gonna be doin' what we're doin right now but on the GRANDEST of levels. i am preparing myself for that moment.... and i want you guys to do that, too....
so... i guess that's it for now. am gonna record more videos this week, will be probably set up to do some showcases soon... and am planning to go back to the UK sometime towards the end of the year to do some more LIVE shows out there...

so right now... we're doing our second "Top 5" VIDEO segment on UP IN MY ROOM (My OFFICIAL YouTube CHANNEL) which we've based on my Top 5 Fave Songs from an 80's Movie Soundtrack >>> and so far, we've posted the 1st song which is "IF YOU LEAVE" from the movie "PRETTY IN PINK". I've tried posting the 2nd song "GOOD ENOUGH" *two times* but each time... i reallyhated the video and so ... those were my 1st *2* LIMITED-TIME-ONLY videos ... haha... that only a few people got a chance to see.
However, I do have to post a video up for that song and so... I think this time around, even tho I wanted to record it electronically, I'm going to record it acoustically because it just wasn't working and... when that happens, you've got to try different things... you know? be an artist. haha and so... this 2nd song should be posted soon.

and um... thirdly, I'm really excited about my performance on 4th of July Weekend at Great America ... and the coolest part about it is that I've got myself an amazing dance crew to do things onstage with! yeah... i've been blessed to have the opportunity to work with choreographer Krisuan "Sir Suantricate" and as far as the dancers are concerned... well, you're just gonna have to watch the show to find out....

On B91, I'm getting about as many plays as Madonna with "4 minutes", Janet Jackson, and Leona Lewis! Cool... cool... cool.... On the personal end, I, like always, have had the time of my life with my frenz... As most of my close frenz know, I am definitely the ... well, hate to say it, life of the party! haha (no, i don't.... i love it!) l0l but... i only am that way cuz i love life and making every moment count with laughter, spirit, and music, right? no need to worry about anything but just being yourself and doin' whatever makes you feel good, right? yeah, well, that's my philosophy and it's served me well for as long as i can remember.

hey everyone,
how is everyone in my nighttime land doing? good, i hope. as for me, i'm doing wonderful and happy to be doing exactly what i love in life... so thank you to every one of you who holler at me, support me, love me... and my music, and write and subscribe to me.
as you all know, i now have my own YouTube video channel called UP IN MY ROOM... and if you haven't SUBSCRIBED to it yet, please go and check it out and then hit the yellow link that sez SUBSCRIBE +. i really want to have a party up in therrrre!!!!!!! ;) and you know you guys are all invited... so come on in and do your thing! ;p
i've also been having the time collaborating with a bunch of artists all this time and one collaboration that i've got myself into... i think you'll like. if you guys have checked out any of the people on my Top Friends list, you might have noticed one of my artist frenz named KONU. Konu is known around for making Island/Reggae/Hip Hop music and one day, we just decided... hey, why don't we make a side project?
So... LoversRock™ was born and this duo we made up of ourselves ;) is getting to work on making some strong, romantic, island love songs for ya'll... mostly on the uke and maybe also on the guitar... in the process of writing music, i have started learning to play some chords on the guitar and it has been such a pleasure making music for this project.
the fun thing about having side projects, for me, is that ... these projects allow me to tap into other sides of me that i might not necessarily tap into if it were strictly for my own solo projects. especially now as i am getting deeper and deeper as an artist... i find myself slowly drifting away from focusing on romantic types of music as i am deeply finding my spirit in this life and am so passionate about sharing that with you all and talking about things in life that deal with who you are inside and how to feel alive by simply knowing your own soul and what makes you happy...
so yeah, for me, LoversRock™ was a cool manifestation as it is a project that I am working on for the future that will allow me to still speak out about matters of the heart and have messages that I feel strongly about... songs about being positive and having faith in love as... all of my music that I have been working on lately is coming from a place of having faith and knowing that there is that rock out there that will be there for you through it all.
too many times, you go through life not knowing and not having the answers but... i feel like i have found a lot of light in the journey of my life and... as an artist, i really feel like that has become my purpose in creating now... and i hope you guys will gain that from listening to my music... light and understanding and peace...

it's gettin' hectic now! ;) but just wanted to remind you in one more spot... that we got a show out in San Francisco SAT June 7 on the MAIN STAGE in the Civic Center Plaza for this year's Fiesta Filipina celebration 2008...
i am scheduled to perform at the 3:10PM slot and I shall be performing about 3-5 tracks...
in addition to that, we will have CDs (NIGHTTIME LAND) available at the official FAN FEST BOOTH so please check out for that if you're going... and grab a copy!

I know (and Lord knows)... heck, all of ya'll know that my 2nd album was a long time coming
but, honestly, i have to give some love back to my hardcore fans out there who have not only waited for this 2nd album but have also not given me any slack for the reality of my given situation
as i've said, time and time again it was never my intention to have such a superduper long hiatus
but... in my life, that's the way the cards were dealt and i've just had to make do with what's been given to me
and so... to all the fans who appreciate "Nighttime Land" and who don't take anything away from it just because of the fact that there was a delay in its release
love still goes out to those who were disappointed in the wait because, end of day... you cared and wanted me/my music earlier and so at the same time, there is no love lost from my end because i know where the emotion is coming from underneath it all
but... end of day know that I am your everyday artist/musician always trying to give her best always trying to be true to herself always trying to connect with you and always trying to make it a step higher to always be an inspiration to someone in this world...
so... thank you everyone in my nighttime land for caring about me and my music for understanding that I am not a one-dimensional artist that I am gonna bring you more and more stuff in the future and am going to be true myself no matter what and hopefully you guys will always accept me for being that kind of girl...

Jus wanted to catch up with you guys for a minute as it seems like it might have been a while since we last chatted. anyway, i... used to do this thing called "In My Ipod" over on my web site but it's been a long time since I've done that so I wanted to do something similar to that over here on my myspace. "Pocketful of Sunshine" (Track 1): "This is one of my fave Natasha Bedingfield tracks. I love the groove and the melody of it and it's just one of those songs that I can feel a spirit and a soul in. It's inspiring but delicious at the same time and I like that."
"Soulmate" (Track 2): "Another fave Natasha Bedingfield track of mine. I actually heard this while living out in London. However, it passes the test of time as it still comes to mind as I'm thinking of fave songs for the moment. It just has this beautiful, beautiful melody and a powerful and dramatic feel that I love singing to. Gorgeous!"
"Foundations" (Track 3): "This song really reminds me of England. It has such a cool British feel and I just like her attitude. It's really apparent in this song. Musically, it just has an awesome beat, fun sound and original lyrics. Gotta luv Kate Nash."
"Oh My God" (Track 4): "Wow. Another track featuring a Brit. ;) I'm starting to think a bunch of my faves are gonna be artists from the UK but... you guys will all pretty much know all of them cuz they crossed over so.. yeah, this track was my jam! I loved how this song was produced... how it captured an older Latin sort of vibe and of course Lily Allen's signature style. Btw, I would recomment Lily Allen's entire album. That one was def a fave."
"Flourescent Adolescent" (Track 5): "I like this track. It has a very original quality to it. 50's chords meshed with a modern rock beat. Very romantic in its own way. I bought the album for this song."
"Like Me" (Track 6): I like this track for many reasons but one of the main ones would probably be that I actually watched this reality show. Haha. I loved The Pussycat Dolls Presents: Girlicious. And... I loved their choices for the winners. I think all the girls (Nichole, Natalie, Chrystina, Tiffanie) have the whole package which makes their combination something fun to watch. And the song is typical/standard Pussycat Dolls/Girlicious music but... that's what I like them for so... that's why I like this track."
"Break The Ice" (Track 7): "I actually like the entire new Brit album but if I had to pick my latest fave track, it would have to be this one. It has a smooth seductive melody on top of a bouncy production which makes it very sexy to me. It's hot."
"Killa" (Track 8): "Another track I find to be very sexy. Haha. But seriously, the bass... the drums... the synth... the melody. Killa! ;p"
"Them Kind Of Girls" (Track 9): "What can I say? Another track to add to the sexy collection. I think because it's almost summertime now, I am gravitating towards these types of singles. But yeah... This song is just super sexy to me because of the romantic melody, bouncy beat, and flirty lyrics."
"Ready For Love" (Track 10): "This is one of the oldest tracks on the list but it is one of my most treasured tracks ever. During a time when I knew that I was ready for love in my life, this is one of the tracks that heavily spoke to me, not only in lyrics but also in music. It is so beautiful and touching and heartfelt. Definitely a part of my life's soundtrack."
SPIRIT (ALBUM): "I was just going to pick one track off this album but I couldn't do it. I love this entire album. Leona has a lot to do with it because she's just so dang ;p awesome so... yeah, no one track from her. I recommend the entire CD."
