Shawn to write a memoir, tentatively scheduled for Fall 2009!

Collins Inks Deal With Multi-Million Copy Bestselling Recording Artist Shawn Colvin for Debut Book

New York, NY (June 26, 2008) —  CollinsPublishers today announced a deal to publish a memoir by Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter Shawn Colvin.  A FEW SMALL REPAIRS, tentatively scheduled for fall '09 and also the name of her breakthrough album, will finally allow all of the fans that have followed her career over the past 19 years to further connect with her on a personal level that only a book could allow.  In concert Shawn is known for engaging the audience and interweaving dialog ranging from the very personal to the truly hilarious, so the book will be a natural extension for her.

Her beautifully crafted songs draw heavily from her own life whether they are fictional, such as "Sunny Came Home," her top ten Billboard hit and Grammy winning Song of the Year, or more direct such as fan favorite, "Trouble."

A born storyteller, Colvin is both clear-eyed and warm-hearted, leavening even the toughest tales with tenderness, empathy and searing sense of humor.

"I don't go into writing a song thinking I'm going to speak for anyone other than myself," Colvin told the Los Angeles Times, "I do try to impart some wisdom with that touchy-feely kind of thing.  People have told me how much they can relate to what's happening in these songs, so I think some experiences are shared ones."

The deal was negotiated by Mary Ellen O'Neill, Vice President and Publisher at Collins Living, and Kirsten Neuhaus at Vigliano Associates.

"After seeing Shawn perform several times, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with her on translating the warmth, humor and fearlessness I have seen her convey on stage to a book," says O'Neill.

Combined sales of her albums total over 2.5 million copies in the United States alone, and Colvin continues to perform at least 50-60 shows across the country a year at venues that range from 500-3000 seats. Throughout the years she has shared the stage and toured with such luminary artists as Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Hornsby, Emmylou Harris, and Lyle Lovett. She has toured internationally throughout her career, returning again and again to places as near as the UK and Europe and reaching out as far as Bangkok, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand. Last June she was honored to perform with David Broza and Jackson Browne in a very special sunrise concert at the base of the 2000-year-old fortress of Masada in Southern Israel, overlooking the Dead Sea. The concert was broadcast on PBS stations throughout the U.S. in the late fall of 2007 and in early 2008.

The Washington Post said her last album These Four Walls "isn't one for the industry.  It's one for the ages."

Shawn appears on The Simpsons soundtrack - songs from the TV show

Hey Simpsons Fans!  Shawn's appearance as Christian rock singer Rachel Jordan has finally been immortalized on CD. Her performance of "He's The Man" is included on the upcoming soundtrack album, "Testify," in stores Sept. 18^th.
