In

17 minutes

another year passes.

Christmas tree is still up.

Thanksgiving turkey is still

in the freezer.  Aroma of cranberry

and pumpkin pie lingers with holiday pounds.

Resolutions made

will be brok

en and new

light brings new year.

San Antonio Spurs vs. Dallas Mavericks
Category: Sports

And the final score is 97-95!  The Spurs win!  Check out the game stats and all the highlights at www.spurs.com.  That was an awesome game!  It's almost always guaranteed to be a good game when my Spurs and the Mavericks go head to head.  Though Tim Duncan was out with a knee injury tonight, Parker and Ginobili did an awesome job with Oberto and Bowen putting in some great plays too!  Way to go Spurs!  GO SPURS GO!

RECALLS
Current mood: annoyed
Category: Life

I have just heard the latest recall on the news.  Hill Country Fare Green beans from HEB.  Not to mention all the pet food that was recalled AND all the thousands of toys that our kids love playing with, which have been found to have lead on them!  Ok, so I don't have any kids, but I do have pets and was lucky that none of my animals got sick.  Unfortunately, I was the one to get sick on the recalled peanut butter!  Both me and my older brother were very ill, after which we discovered two jars of the recalled peanut butter in our pantry.  We came very close to eating green beans last night...  Husband Pleasin' beans just sounded so much better! Am I glad I made a last minute change to the menu last night!

So, who's with me?!  Have you had enough of the recalled food?!  and toys, and vehicles...  Do I dare ask, "What's next?"

One of my favorite Poets ---> Richard Wilbur; The Juggler
Category: Writing and Poetry

The Juggler
Richard Wilbur

A ball will bounce, but less and less. It's not
A light-hearted thing, resents its own resilience.
Falling is what it loves, and the earth falls
So in our hearts from brilliance,
Settles and is forgot.
It takes a skyblue juggler with five red balls

To shake our gravity up. Whee, in the air
The balls roll round, wheel on his wheeling hands,
Learning the ways of lightness, alter to spheres
Grazing his finger ends,
Cling to their courses there,
Swinging a small heaven about his ears.

But a heaven is easier made of nothing at all
Than the earth regained, and still and sole within
The spin of worlds, with a gesture sure and noble
He reels that heaven in ,
Landing it ball by ball,
And trades it all for a broom, a plate, a table.

Oh, on his toe the table is turning, the broom's
Balancing up on his nose, and the plate whirls
On the tip of the broom! Damn, what a show, we cry:
The boys stamp, and the girls
Shriek, and the drum booms
And all comes down, and he bows and says goodbye.

If the juggler is tired now, if the broom stands
In the dust again, if the table starts to drop
Through the daily dark again, and though the plate
Lies flat on the table top,
For him we batter our hands
Who has won for once over the world's weight.

Poetic slump
Current mood: apathetic
Category: Life

I dont know if you can actually call it a poetic slump.. It's more of a life slump that has been temporarily subdued by the NBA and my San Antonio Spurs!  This is a good thing.  I love watching the Spurs play; they are good and respectable.  Not a team in which your going to find one of its players suddenly arrested for lewd behavior and drunken abandonment.   And now that the NBA season is over and the Champions named, I find myself with nothing else to concentrate on other than the valley in which I am now walking.  This is good because out of these valleys, come life lessons, and out of the life lessons, come poetry.  Not that I wish to be in the valley, in fact, I long to get out, to continue climbing and remain steady. The poetry that comes forth is always my best, I learn as I write and as one of our best poets said, "Poetry begins in delight, and ends in wisdom." ~Robert Frost
