After a While
Current mood: contemplative

After a while you learn the subtle difference
between holding a hand and chaining a soul,

And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning
and company doesn't mean security,

And you begin to learn that kisses aren't
contracts and presents aren't promises,

And you begin to accept your defeats with
your head up and your eyes open,
with the grace of a woman and not the grief of a child.

And you learn to build all your roads on today
because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans,
and futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight.

After a while you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much.
So plant your own garden and decorate your own soul,
instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.

And you learn that you really can endure...
that you really are strong

And that you really do have worth,
and you learn and learn...
with every goodbye you learn.

Something about me you may not know
Current mood: ecstatic

I am trying to be productive and write someone on here more often:)  I am always trying to think of something different to write so why not be a little bit open and write something about me!

When I use to live in Tampa Florida - for people that know me know I use to be a supervisor in a hotel and I booked meetings and room reservations for NFL football teams and MacDill AFB. What an exciting job - and again for those that know me I am a HUGE football fan and I was just in my glory! I met a lot of great people, tons of awesome contacts and overall some really special people. I had the opportunity to learn so much from the military - from rankings, to training, sound proof rooms and MASSIVE LAST MINUTE CHANGES. I always wondered how the military can strategically place items; yet are a little scattered when planning a meeting for 5 people let alone 500:)

However saying all of the above, with all the meetings I have planned for the military, of all the chaos, last minute changes, MacDill calling my home number when I didn't give them the number - (ha that's the miliary for ya)I wouldn't have changed it for the world.

I collect military coins - some of them from the meetings I planned, others from good friends - one being my best friend's reenlistment coin. I almost cried when he gave it to me, although I didn't know if it was a feeling of pride or the fact that the marine threatened to kick my ass if I lost it who knows! The stories I could tell with my coins - I would be here all night. Hopefully this comes across as how important they are to me and how important the military is to me. My grandfather, my uncle and all of my friends who are a part of UMSN (my military support group) mean so much to me and it is an honor to be able to support them as well as all of the brave and men and women fighting for our freedom we take for granted every day of our precious lives.

Thank you and stay safe

The Name Game
Current mood: surprised

Ok I am sure every knows my name is Sherida...Sher for short because NO ONE CAN PRONOUNCE IT. I am from Irish decent, and it is definitely not an Irish name. My parents just wanted to be original back in the 70s me being their 1st daughter and all. I do not know if they were wishing for a boy so bad that they were thrown off when a bright smiley CUTE girl was born. If I was a boy I was going to be named Kyle James Ranson....damn that's pretty normal what the hell happened huh:)  So Sherida Ann it was....from the day I was born everyone mispronounced it and I was called "shareeeda" (that's the best way I know how to spell it)and my mom was right there to put everyone in their place with the right pronunciation.

I think my parents learned their lesson because when my sister was born 4 years later, Kyle James was still the boy's name...damn they were set on that one; however much to their surprise they had to think of another girl's name.  Suzanne Rene Ranson...pretty normal too!

So over the years I got called pretty much every name in the book from shandra, sheri(which I refuse to answer to) sher (which my friends call me) to SHANOLA (very popular work nickname when someone came up and asked for shanola the reservations manager) Of course that stuck with my work colleagues and that's all they called me!I think even Meredith was thrown in there a time or 2  WTF???  Sherida-Meredith umm yeah I think I see the confusion.

However this is where I draw the line...I got called YODA the other day.  I couldn't believe it...twice in fact.  I'm thinking either I cannot speak English or these people are deaf. How in the world does one get Yoda from Sherida?  If anyone has any answers, please by all means let me know because I was mortified. Umm no offense against Yoda of course...he's cute in his own old ugly way:)

I guess I need some sort of excitment in my life, and if going to be about the name, might as well be original!

Enjoy:)

Job of a lifetime???
Current mood: relieved

For those who know me, my current job sucks to put it mildly.  With the constant looking, and job interviews both internally and externally, I believe it finally paid off.  As of June 5, 2006 I will be officially the new Travel and Event coordinator for a large investment firm based out of San Mateo California...(of course I will be working out of Toronto) WHOOHOOOO for me.  I have to get use to the whole Toronto thing again, that is the only downfall.  That city scares the poop out of me but sometimes we just have to suck it up!!!  Everyone asks me if I am excited.  I think I am more relieved right now, I can be excited the day I leave my old job. I do not think it has sunk in as of yet.  New beginnings who knows what else the world has in store for me..HMMMMM:)  Thanks for everyone's support it means a lot!
