Can you help?
Current mood: optimistic
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities

Hello to all fans of Signal Fire Films and "Six Bullets".  It has been a very long time since we've had much to report, but "355" is now in the final days of photography.  As we look forward to the marketing of the film, we remember what a huge boost it was for "Six Bullets" when Graham won the 2006 Best Local Filmmaker award from the Shepherd Express.  We won that title with your online ballots.  This year, we're asking for your help again.  Can you take three minutes and vote for Graham Killeen?

You can support all your other favorite Milwaukeeans, as well.  We really appreciate it!

Panasonic’s Miserable Web Site

I got so tired of trying to use Panasonic's web site to get drivers, firmware, utilities, manuals, etc. that I put together a resource for Panasonic P2 everything at http://panasonic.sixbullets.net.  If you're a HVX200 or HPX500 user, go bookmark it, 'cause it's the last place you'll ever have to look for any of that stuff.  No more bad Japanese translations or digging through four different Panasonic web sites for support.

Film Festivals - Even the rejections
Current mood: aggravated
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities

We recently received rejection letters from two midwest-based film festivals, including the Milwaukee International Film Festival.  While this is unfortunate, I believe it is a sign of a bigger problem within Milwaukee.  Milwaukee's arts community can't seem to support its own.

"Six Bullets" has won the award for Best Action/Adventure at a film festival in Houston where the festival director called the film "well done, and hauntingly direct", and the film is an official selection at two festivals in New York and one in Florida.  The director was awarded "Best Local Filmmaker" by Milwaukee's Shepherd Express, who called the film "the earliest buzz-worthy submission to the Milwaukee International Film Festival".  The director and lead actor were featured live on Milwaukee TV.

Where is the local support?  The MIFF would rather support foreign films from established directors than take a chance on homegrown Milwaukee-area talent, and that's unfortunate.  How can Wisconsin ever convince its film students to stay in an area where you have to leave to become accepted?  Fixing the filmmaking talent leak out of Wisconsin has to start with changing the way we value local films

While 355 is already underway with a huge amount of support, financially and otherwise, it makes me think twice about staying in a community that isn't excited about its own local talent.

What a great party

Thanks to everyone for making it to the Six Bullets insider party.  It was pretty impressive, and we raised enough to cover our duplication costs and film festival submission fees.

We are just starting to get another project off the ground, assuming we can secure funding.  It's called 355 and is feature-length.  We can't wait to get started!
