Requiem
Current mood: sad
After over two years of music, Sing the Evens Play the Odds will be calling it quits. We would like to thank all the bands, venues, promoters, fans, friends, and family that have given unerring support throughout their time together. Services will be held at the Bloomfield Bridge Tavern on March 31st; we would love to have all those close to the band members and as many faces as possible to see us off.
You can still see Ross with his new band Threat Level: Midnight and Pope with his band Pyramid Scheme. Talk has ensued of another incarnation of Sing the Evens Play the Odds, with additional musicians and a different focus, but everything is fairly up in the air right now. Don't hold your breath but don't forget about us, either.
Thank you all again, we love you, and it's been a great time.
Kristin, Colleen, Ross, and Pope

Toledo Show (Boy were we tired...)
We gathered the troops at approximately 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon and left for Toledo after a short practice. The drive there was rather uneventful, lots of sleeping, and listening to the new Cursive disc.
We arrive at the venue around 8 p.m. and check the place out. It's a cool little Irish bar called Mickey Finn's. Pope plays some Flogging Molly on the jukebox to get us in the spirit of the place, we play some pool, and get ready for the show. Our set goes well, the Toledians er, Toledites er, Toledoricans, whoever, seemed to enjoy it.
We wake up the next day and get back on the road, ahead of schedule! Getting back to Pittsburgh was very important due to a fantasy football draft that could not be missed. We're making good time, it's raining a bit, but that's not slowing our stride. What did break our stride though, was a tire that flew off of a Nissan in the furthest right lane that we plowed through doing about 75mph. Pope and I inspect the damage on the rainy turnpike with semis coming within several feel of killing us to find that the bumper has been annihilated and the whole front end was out of whack. We loop back around to meet up with the newly designed Nissan Tripod and its owner to exchange the info and file the accident report. Luckily no one was hurt, except maybe the Nissan owner's insurance company. Eh, it was better than when we got stuck in Jersey for the week.
Ross
Oh, and I wanted to add a special thanks to Dave, Krystal, and Lee for showing up at the show, especially Lee, for giving us a place to stay.

Youngstown/Middlefield (weekend of same sex hook-ups)
Quick weekend recap for you, the fine readers of the Sing the Evens, Play the Odds blog.
Friday: We arrive in Youngstown at Irish Bob's around 8:30, we meet some nice people, sing Pearl Jam songs while sitting on the sidewalk, and prepare to play. We're up first and we play to a half-filled bar seemingly uninterested in what we're doing at all, sans the friendly boys of Fanstab Chicago and The Red Lights. The set goes fairly well, we apparently impressed a drunken art teacher and her drunken boyfriend. Kristin finds herself a girlfriend in said drunken art teacher. Then Fanstab plays and they're awesome, better than the last time I saw them. Pope gets really drunk, we go to IHOP, Pope creeps out waitress, waitress gives Pope IHOP pin.
Saturday: Middlefield, OH AKA Nothingtodosville. We got there about 4 hours before our show and made the most out of their greatest attraction, Walmart. Pope bought a girl's shirt to match his girl pants. The show gets underway at about 7:45. The first band couldn't have had a member older than 15, and they were awesome. I got to hear some killer covers. We play, a song or two into our set, our friends the Terrible Two show up and all goes well. I never thought I'd see the day where kids moshed to stepto, but it happen, a lot, and it ruled. Publik Affairs and the Mistaken followed and also put on quality shows. Pope's girl shirt purchase paid dividends when he met the love of his life in the drummer for Publik Affairs. We hope to return to Middlefield in a couple of months and do it all over again.
The Future: We have some killer shows coming up, August 5th at Excuses for the old folks, and August 12th at the Quiet Storm for the kiddies. Show up, and have a good time.

First Summer Tour Weekend and Upcoming Shows
We returned to the road last weekend and destroyed random parts of Pennsylvania. So don't be suprised if you're driving through Kutztown or Somerset and they don't exist anymore. We've been stuck playing in Pittsburgh all winter and it was nice to play somewhere new again.
Saturday: We arrive in Kutztown, we find out that the Bean Cellar is in the basement of an Ice Cream shop, score. Other bands arrive, their friends and family arrive, we quickly realize that they're going to hate us. Before we play, Kris and I take bets on how many songs we'll get in before they cut us off. We couldn't have been further off on how they would react. A litte bit strange to play to room full of people sitting down, but they seemed to love it nonetheless. The other bands turned out to be great dudes, Queen's Ransome made the majority of stepto pitch tents when they played a Pixies cover. The Scarlet were quite entertaining as well. In summation, good show, good bands, new friends, Dutch Motel.
Sunday: We wake up, decide we have way too much time before the Somerset show and need to find something to do. Hershey, PA here we come. As is the stepto way, we find a Bob Evan's for breakfast, eat like pigs and move on. Then, off to Chocolate World, where we take a sweet tour learning how chocolate is made and get a fantastic family photo taken next to a picture of a giant Kiss, soon to be posted on here. We finish up at Chocolate World, get on the road, and arrive in Somerset. We'd play here every weekend if we had a chance, this show was great. The crowd was big and gave us a great reaction. I want to thank Ian from Odds on Favorite for setting this up, and then apologize for not sticking around to see them play.
Monday-Tuesday: I go to Atlantic City, lose all my money, and come home.
The End.
In other news, we're playing a show next Thursday at the Quiet Storm Coffee House. It's all ages, and I think their shows are BYOB, and those facts shouldn't be in the same sentence. But anyway, come check it out if you can, it'll be a good show.

The Bean Cellar
SO last night we played at the bean cellar in kutztown. somewhere by allentown. well before we played i met these two awesome people that i ended up playing squares with. Miranda and Mel, so thanks for keeping me entertained you two.
But to the point i guess, we started the show a bit differently, but it all worked out. we were loud and ourselves. It was fun. The other bands were really awesome also. We are going to try and bring both of them to pittsburgh with us.
So i was the first one up. It was raining really bad. We ended up staying at the place called the dutch motel. it has a really nice shower.
i think i am going to go and smoke now, i am sure ross will make a better post then this.
