Fringe is over, but the spirit lives on... and Fringe Crush (especially Max!!)
Hey folks--
The Orlando fringe is officially over (and has been for a few days now). Kym & I are back in New York, in our newly decked out apartment (thanks Canadian Frank!) and as the office comes back together we finally have internet again! Yeah!!
Anyway, more fringe pics to come, so check back again soon.
But in the mean time... The six Characters have a Fringe Crush admirer. Especially Max, who I've been calling the "Man Candy" of the whole out-of-town tour. Here's a great little video:
I hope to see you all over the next two days. If you'd like to help support our innovative brand of theatre, we'll be selling t-shirts & buttons by the beer tent or you can make a donation online here
BEST SHOW EVER! Tonight-- VOLUNTEER NIGHT!! 11:40pm
Just a quick announcement to let all Fringe Festival Volunteers know that our show this evening is going to be dedicated to all you hard-working volunteers that make this festival happen and keep things moving! (read that as FREE for Volunteers!!)
Come see Best Show Ever! tonight for FREE in honor of all your hard work at the PURPLE Venue 11:40pm. Just bring you volunteer badge & show it at the door. For all you've done for us, we'd love a chance to make you laugh!!
On Monday evening, Six Characters did an outdoor pie fight at the beer tent to promote Best Show Ever! at the Orlando Fringe. It went very well, over 40 pies of mayhem flew onto the faces of the Six! The Orlando Sentinel came down and took some pics which made it into the paper yesterday. The caption in the print edition declared, "Now, That's Funny!" See it here.
Additionally, BloggingFringe.com has some video of the whole thing going down which you can see on their website www.bloggingfringe.com Scroll towards the bottom of the page to the video section & click on the videop picture of Jim (I think) getting pied!
The whole stunt reached a climax as Fringe Festival Director, Beth Marshall pied our Production Manager, Arwen Lowbridge and then received a little payback from her son, Darth who slapped her with a nice pie in the face. Naturally we got some pictures of that on flickr. Click here.
Lastly, Mark Baratelli started a flickr photo group for Orlando Fringe pics. Check it out for fun pictures from the festival... and upload your own for everyone to see!! http://www.flickr.com/groups/orlandofringe/
So I finally got some more pics up on Flickr. These are from after our first show where, yes, the Six Characters rocked so hard Kym's pants exploded!! And double yes, I have the pictures to prove it!
Our next show is tonight, Tuesday 5/22 at 8pm! It should be a great one since it's at the traditional theatre hour. (Oh shoot! I hope I'm not cursing us by saying that!!) Please come if you haven't seen it yet!
Keep your eyes peeled later in the day for pictures from our pie fight that we did on the outdoor stage & fringe gathering area by the beer tent. It was a lot of fun & very messy.
Hey true believers! Greetings from sunny Orlando Florida.
Just a quick update before we spend our first day off pool-side with tropicoolatta in hand.
Yesterday we had our 2nd show-- a matinee-- and we pretty much rocked the hizzouse yet again. The audience was smaller but responsive with laughs-a-plenty. Word seems to be getting around that ours is a show to see. It will be very interesting to see what kind of house we get for our 3rd show, this Tuesday at 8pm (a prime time.-- hmmm... i think i just coined a phrase).
After the show we had some beers and said goodbye to the most amazing lighting designer the world has ever seen-- our friend-- Paul Hudson, as he left to go back to New York in order to prepare for his trip to Spain. We shall miss you, Paul. Without you... well, we'd be performing in the dark.
Many shows were seen yesterday by the Six Characters. Among them:
"Found and Lost" by the inFluxdance company. These gals rock. They not only burst with energy and individual, vibrant personalities but we found their show completely engrossing. At times comical and at times emotional, there was even a sniffle or two coming from our crew by the end. They're also the nicest, coolest bunch of people we've met so far at the Fringe. We want to take them home with us.
"Burden of Poof" by Poofy du Vey. We love her. We saw her do a short bit from her show back in New York and loved her then-- but her full show is simply amazing. She's not only funny but full of pathos-- and the sexiest clown we've ever seen. Luckily she's from NY so we don't have to take her home with us!
And... Oopps!!! Gotta jet. Just realized we're running late to pick up Kath. More Fringe updates later!
Our 1st Fringe show was so good my pants exploded...literally.
Current mood: accomplished

Dude.... DUDE... dude...
We managed to pull it off. All the planning, rehearsing, driving, handing out postcards etc etc.
Six Characters: Best Show Ever! has lift off. And I don't think orlando has seen the likes of us before. Our first show today was splendiferous. Beforehand, we were incredibly nervous. Probably the most nervous I have ever been...
The show went off with hardly a hitch. It was so good it rocked my costume pants right off of me. I had to find a mall in the Penske with Devin. Buy pants, remake pants and get pants ready for our SECOND SHOW TOMORROW!!!
We had a pretty great turnout for knowing 3 people total in Orlando...though our friend pool seems to be growing exponentially.
Hey folks. Here's pictures from last night's Opening Night party of the Fringe Festival. Here's just a sampling, so keep checking back day for new pics.
We had a great time last night despite the Opening Night parade being rained out. The beer tent provided ample protection from the elements and the beers themselves kept us quite warm! We met a lot of cool people, and heard about a lot of great shows we are excited to see. Happy Fringing!!
Six Characters LIVE! in ORLANDO!!!
Current mood: ecstatic
The Six Characters have arrived in Orlando... last night at least. I've got to say we are so excited to be here finally.
Today we had a tech rehearsal starting at 9:30am. We've just finished up and (shhhh, don't let it out of the bag...) the show is looking good-- not just GREAT!, I'm afraid I have to admit. All the hard work put in to the rehearsal process in NY really paid off, as we ended up having one of the smoothest tech rehearsals in Six Character's history... and we've got a lot of history! I'd like to give a couple of quick shout outs if I may to some of the folks that made today go as glitch-free as it did. First off, to our amazing Venue Tech, Tricia-- rock on!! You da bomb! Next up, Paul Hudson, Lighting Designer extrodinaire. Marissa, our Stage Manager-- keeping everything on time & in line (even when it's not), she's the reason we were able to pull off a cue 2 cue and a full dress run of the show in 1 tech session!! I'd like to give a big shout out to Greg King & his 5000 lumens of pure projector power that just kicks a$$ and looks great. Total rock & roll. And last but not least, PRG & Frank Moran for hooking us up with the sweetest roadcases & tricking them out to our needs!!
To everyone reading this out there: This show is going to ROCK! If you are here in Orlando & have a chance to make it down, please do. This is easily the tightest, most polished production we have put together. The PURPLE VENUE at the Orlando Rep, is a dream space for Six Characters and is so intimate (while being quite large) that is really brings the action and magic of what we do right to you. So come on down as Bob Barker would say, and experience it for yourself.
Tonight we head back to the festival grounds for the opening night parade and gala. We look forward to seeing you there. Look for us; we'll probably be the drunk ones!!
Here's to meeting to people, making new friends, and the magic of live theatre! Cheers!!
