alright, sorry for the long silence. been really busy getting things together here in germany, and my dance card was overbooked from the moment i got off the plane in salt lake, so i'll try to get you all up to speed.

I had a great, fantastic, wonderful, exciting and/or awesome time at home while i was on leave. all my super duper friends and family made me feel extra loved and missed. from having lunch with my sister, to getting smashed on stauffy's porch, my time home was well needed and very very well spent. i thank you all, there are no words to express the gratitude i feel for the sacrifices you made to ensure that i was well looked after. that being said, it was a sad day for me to leave you all once again, but the glorious army calls and being but a simple soldier i can do naught but answer.

which is how i find myself in beautiful, green, cold as shit germany. i've been here a whole 9 days so i cant really tell you much about my stay, other than that i've had  more eye candy to look at in the past week and a half than the whole 2 years i spent in japan. thank sweet baby jesus. i'm in T&A heaven. but enough of that. so far, so good. i've been out on the town a couple times and i'm going out again tonight. it'll be my first experience with the german train system, so cross your fingers please. the beer here is three times double plus good, and even with the exchange rate, its fairly cheap to go out and get a good swerve on. so, i should be all set. i'm taking my camera with me, but no promises on any good shots... i've been discussing things with mr. daniel's all day... god bless saturdays.

its finally here, almost...

i depart Okinawa for good on saturday.

this is likely the last chance i will have to communicate at large before i reach the mother-land. all of my household goods, including my computer, will be boxed up and shipped to germany in the morning. i find it difficult to express how profound my first experience living abroad has been, so i wont even try. i know it's not the same, me being in the military and all, but hey... i still got out of the states, right? and, for a hay-seed from salt lake, even an army-buffered okinawa is a shock.

i dont know where this is going... i want to express so much. but everything i think to type seems trivial and trite. you've all had such a huge impact on me, for better or worse, and that means the world to me.

been a long time coming

so it seems i never update this thing at all... i'm too busy living life to take the time to write about it i guess.

as all things must, my time in Okinawa is coming to an end. thank god. soon, i'll be spending a few short weeks surrounded by the comforts of home, then its off to more of the unknown in Germany.

i harbor no illusions about the quality of the command out there or whether or not i'll run into the same imbeciles and incompetant lunatics. however, i cant help be look forward to a change of scenery, and the chance to fulfill my lifelong dream of exploring europe. there is some loss tho, i wish very much that i could pack away some of the very good friends that i've made here, and take them with me. i guess that's something that long time soldiers have gotten used to, but its still very new to me.

to sum up,

i'm very excited to be coming home to spend time with my friends and family

i'm very sad to be leaving behind my new-found friends and family

i'm looking forward to making new friends and finding new family
