I just discovered an envelope in one of my closets with a nice handful of SLEEPTHIEF bumper stickers. If anyone wants to claim a few, feel free to send me an email via myspace and give me your address. I know some of you have made good use of these in the past (haha).
I have just sent out stems to several remixers for the first single, so things should be slowly flowing back in on that. Excited to hear what comes out of those remixes. So far, the responses to the song have been very good, so it gives me hope that y'all might dig the first single from the new album...
Right now, I am working with Kristy Thirsk and wrapping up her two new tracks in the next month or so. Also, doing a bit more recording with Coury, Zoe and Kirsty at the beginning of December. Looks like Roberta Carter Harrison will have a really fun track on the limited edition version of the album, and there are still a few other songs I have to get done!!
At any rate, making progress and staying on top of things...
Hope you are all doing really well this season.

And Winter Came

Enya
Release date: 2008-11-11
Ah...this is nice and puts me in the mood for Christmas
As a big fan of ENYA's music, I was pleased to find this video preview of the new album: Preview of new Enya Album
She is so classy... And I am SOOO loving the choral version of SILENT NIGHT--and she is doing a version of my favorite hymn of all time, O COME O COME EMMANUEL. ahhhhh
First, forgive me for not being as present on myspace as I normally am. The music is taking over and I am trying to beat some deadlines...
At any rate, about finished with 2 new tracks for the next album (including the title track, Labyrinthine Heart featuring Jody Quine). Also, finished the first single, which I will be sending out for remixing shortly. I am also putting the logistics together for the video shoot for the first single (we should be shooting it in February). I am getting the album design/concept ready and am going to be doing the photoshoot for it in December...
I also have to redesign the official SLEEPTHIEF website (it seriously needs a makeover)!!
Definitely feeling the pressure to keep the songs flowing steady. I am knocking them out pieces at a time, so that is good. I have 21 songs in various stages...so I am gonna have to pick which ones to finish developing and fine-tuning.
If all goes as planned, the first single and its remixes and the video will be out in April, followed by the album release in May. Still six/seven months away, but that time goes quickly!!!
I am also planning on going on vacation in May, so I may have to time the release to happen right after that...
At any rate, thank you all for the ongoing support you show me and the really sweet comments.
More vidblog with Coury Palermo (and a pig that emits smoke from its rump) and another preview
This is the second video that Coury Palermo put together. I was dying laughing when we caught the smoking pig BBQ--Coury was incredulous and mesmerized by it. We had such a fun time. Also, you get to hear a bit of one of the other new tracks "ALL OF ME, FOREVER." Looks like Coury is coming back in Dec. when Kirsty and Zoe are here. May be having a Zoe/Coury duet!!!
At any rate, hope you like this...I do!!!

Common Reaction

Uh Huh Her
Release date: 2008-08-19
As I have been a really big fan of hers for 10 years (own all of her albums), this is a very exciting thing for me. Her new album is set to be released shortly. I am remixing a track called BLACK AND WHITE. The original is a electro-jazz groove. I am moving it into the early 80's Giorgio Moroder style.
In the meantime go check Vanessa out! You will like what you hear!
Coury’s video blog (with a sneak peak of the first single from the next album)
Coury Palermo just posted a bit of vid on youtube. He answers some questions (part of the footage that will end up on the exclusive DVD release) and we play an acappella snippet of the song that will be the first single from LABYRINTHINE HEART.
The vocals are out of this world...sorry for the tease!! Coury and I will be doing loads more together in the future...
News I am sure you are all glad to hear about. Balligomingo has a new album
Just a heads up for everyone...BALLIGOMINGO are in the final stages of finishing their follow-up album. As most of you know Garrett Schwarz formed the project and worked with both Vic Levak and Jody Quine. Jody subsequently performed on my first album, and has 2 tracks on the forthcoming album. Vic also did some beautiful guitar work for SLEEPTHIEF (that is him on SEND ME AN ANGEL). Although SLEEPTHIEF and BALLIGOMINGO are often compared, I love the folks in BALLIGOMINGO and wish them the best...just stay tuned 'cause their new album is going to be phenomenal. Interestingly enough, SLEEPTHIEF's other "rival," DELERIUM are great too. Bill Leeb is such a cool guy (never spoken to Rhys, but he seems great). So here we have the triad of epic/ethereal/world/pop/electronic acts...maybe we should all do a massive show?! haha
Just had a phenomenal 3 days working with Coury Palermo on two fantastic tracks. One is incredibly intense and upbeat, whilst the other is so melancholy and beautiful. Coury was amazing to work with. His vocal technique is just stunning...flawless singer. We laid down loads of vocals with Israel and the end result is going to be really mind-blowing.
We had such a good time that Coury is coming back out in Dec. We definitely want to consistently work with each other. He is a generous and genuine soul.
Coury is planning on posting some video blogs in the next few days with some snippets of the tracks...so stay tuned. We had some really great laughs as well--I kept promoting him whenever we were out eating or at a restaurant. Coury is very humble, but I was all about telling everyone how great he is! haha.
At any rate, we have 2 more songs down, and there is loads to tell you (all about bonus tracks, remixes, videos, etc.)...but I will keep that under wraps for a bit!
