first off i'd like to retract my last blog...if at all possible.  Here's the truth as far as i know it about james kyle carey.  sometimes he drinks too much and he keeps back his emotions and he's definately a music snob.  but he's honest and selfless and willing to still be kind to someone that's said many unkind things to him.  He can make me laugh seconds after crying even if he's suggesting I do the meanest thing imaginable. he'll tell you the truth even when it's the last thing you want to hear.  He won't take "i don't know, i don't knowwww" as an answer.  and he knows me inside out.

on a more fun note i went through my box of loooove letters from high school  man oh man.  first off...i would like to acknowledge that I proably dated the two most kind hearted boys that were at TR.  And I never really appreciated that.  Parts of me haven't changed since then.  The things they liked about me i still do to this day and the reasons we broke up are still mistakes i make.  But either way I feel lucky.  I've always had good boys in my life.  No one has ever been really mean or hurtful to me, or cheated, or lied.  They weren't clingy or possesive or close minded.  Some times I wonder if i'm a little jaded from my luck.  Its as if i'm so afraid someone is going to spoil it that it's rare i let a boy in unless i'm positive he won't screw up my faith in the male population. 

It's not as if i've never had a broken heart, or cried over a boy.  I have but it was never done in such a horrible manner that i've heard other girls talk about.  I hear girls compain about their thoughless, mean, jelous, aweful boyfriends and i can never relate.

But I'm pretty sure i'm ok with that

Hawaii is great and living on a ship can't possibly be explained.  It's like the real world meets college. minus the hot tub and greek life.  Being in the restuarant department is intense.  You gripe and complain if you work less than 10 hours a day and everyone complains about their front/back waiter.  We're as protective as the kids in band in high school.  you don't dare date outside your department, only if you date "up"...like maybe a butler or the crew activities coordinator.  someone with stripes.  there's no way you'd stoop so low to be seen in public with someone like utility galley, or a deck steward (ew).  Since there's over 400 people in the restaurant dept. we pretty much run the show.

I'm adjusting quite well to hawaii and getting about 4 hours of sleep a night.  Christmas was rough and strange.  Everything in Honolulu was open.  We ate lunch at Hooters before we had to work.  Kona is my favorite.  It reminds me of greenville.  I haven't been snorkeling yet, or surfing...i've actually only gotten in the water twice, if you count  skinny dipping in nawiliwili at 3 am.  Most of my free time is split between sleep and avoiding the tourists.  I've got 2 months down, 3 more to go..

So...today i was working in the Aloha Nui (the buffet) and i was outside on the pool deck bussing tables (glamerous, right....fine dining???) and this passanger came up to me and asked where the "Wind" was.  I pointed out the window to the ship on our left and said "she's right there".  This passanger told me i should go there and i asked "to work?" and she said "no, just to go...i like it there, they have more slides."  So i said "wow...you've been there, how many ships have you been on?"...She held up her hand and starts to tick them off..."The Wind, the Jewl, the Star, the Princess, the Pride of America, and the Pride of Hawaii now" and i was like "holy cow! how old are you", and she said "nine and a half"

Maui...for today

I'm finally in Hawaii.  Finally.  This is my second day here in maui.  Yesterday was my first day off the ship. So far I've:

went to a bar in Wikiki
flown across the entire country, and then 5 hours over the Pacific
went to a bonfire on the beach in maui
worked 16 hours in one day
snuck and ate creme brulee on the clock with Jennifer
survived lobster night
folded more than 500 napkins
worn a name tag EVERY SINGLE DAY for the past 2 months
started referring to life outside the ship as "general population"
layed out in the sun on the bow of a ship

oh and there's soooo much more.  1 week down, 19 more to go.  A few nights ago while we were closing the Alizar, we went past an active volcano.  I'm on the Pride of Hawaii which is their biggest, newest ship and I work is the smallest "main dining room".  it's really not bad...parts have been fun.  last night our matre'd threw us a party on the beach, because it's "maui night out".  Happy Thanksgiving!

Piney Point

So i'm here.  It's a freaking blast.  I have to be back in class in 4 minutes.  I've been up since 5:20 this morning and class isn't over untill 5.  I'll graduate here next Thursday (thank God)  I'll let you guys know anything new when I have more time and my own laptop.

just because you graduate with a 4.6...

so last night i'm just hanging abound reading in my room, when my mom says "hey ashley, there's someone here to see you".  i look out-no car, but there's a boy in the driveway.  i run downstairs, and it's nic.  the guy i dated in 11th grade who was also my bestfriend before and after....blah blah- we hated eachother by graduation and i left but always thought of him as the nice guy i maybe should have been nicer to since he graduated #5 in his class and left school to be a doctor.  well-this wound up being a whole different kid.  he started off being a total jerk to me and started telling me stories about going to jail and how he can name three drugs he hasn't done yet.  congratulations..  anyways.  i just thought it was so weird to run into him and be so disappointed.  i think the idea of nic is alot better then the new nic.  it was a sad night.  he ended up staying at my house haning out w/ my little brother trying to find someone to sell them pot. 

ooooh yeah....i might be getting some good new which would be the best thing to happen to me since "congrationlations, we'd like to welcome you to Francis Marion University" and "hi-i'm kyle carey".
