Disastro - Debut Album - Out Now
DOWNLOAD DISASTRO, here
"This is that rarest of musical creatures; a debut album full of promise."
You pay your license fee for years, and they repay you with costume dramas, endless news and a really nice review, thanks to the BEEB for this;
"Disastro has to be the most misleading misnomer of the year: Sonny J's debut is messy with styles, overcrowded with samples and almost overbalances with the respect it pays to different genres, times and places. Yet it never approaches even the outskirts of disaster. The album takes a bucket of ideas and shakes them up in a ragbag of influences. What comes out is as sweet and surprising as a birthday cake.
There's more to this collection though, than just a collection of warmed-over riffs and recycled vocals; Sorrow could easily be the lead track from a Chris Martin solo project, and it works perfectly as a standalone island of high quality, old-school music for musicians.
If you've ever worshipped at the temple of DJ Shadow or bowed before Beck, you'll find more than enough eclecticism here to whet your aural appetite. If you remember the early days of Big Beat, when the likes of Fatboy Slim and Bentley Rhythm Ace were at their most inspired, you'll adore the quirky blending of arcade-game sound effects, heavy metal guitar and francophone girlie-pop which kicks off the set.
And if you can remember back to the time of the Banana Splits TV show, during the golden age of Detroit pop at Hitsville USA, you'll recognise the skills employed on Can't Stop Moving. It's surely no coincidence that master label EMI have released this gorgeous piece of work on old the $tateside imprint, one time home to Motown's output in the UK.
This is that rarest of musical creatures; a debut album full of promise."

MAYDAY...MAYDAY...
blogs, they do insist on gittin on yer wick don't they folks ? i feel like i'm turning into lily ber-loody allen writin all this stuff..still..had a crackin' bank holiday boozin' n munchin' at the may day [sonny's b'day] celebrations in whitstable.the locals put on their annual wicker man style festival ;y'know the type, crocodiles heads, walking trees, folk in bear outfits, pagan dancing.i only tipped up cos i thought britt ekland might be dancin' herself into a dervish in the buff.alas,i was dissapointed, but i did end up inside a huge wicker man full of live animals for not puttin' me album out sooner.i thought i'm done for,the lord mayor's gonna reach for his clipper n put the whole thing up in flames.luckily,i performed an acapella version of enfant terrible and..phew...i had turned the whole situation round..if only ole woodward had done that instead of dronin on with the the lord's prayer or lord is my shepherd or whatever it was,he might have gotten out with his tackle intact..come to think of it,he must have done, cos he ended up as the equalizer...1-1. p.s. me new single handsfree shoots in at no.3 on the box[if anybody watches]..poor ole duffy is no.4..no wonder she's blubbin her eyes out in warwick avenue.1..2..3...ahhh.

SONNY Js MIX-OMATOSIS
jus done a 25 minute mix and interview for 6music and i do profess, sir, to putting some real gems in there. however, the whole interview process was somewhat akin to a police interview. y’know,a small boxy room, clamminess, tape recorder n the like.fairplay to 6music tho’ they made me very welcome;even got a cuppa with one shugg...just a shame i answered every question "no comment".
p.s. if you’re a soccer a.m. buff, check out showboating this saturday, there will be much sonny j ness to behold.i ,however won’t be watching;i’ll be doing some showboating of a different kind with the missus [sonnetta]...he’s really fit.

WILL THE POSTMAN BE KNOCKING ON YOUR DOOR COME 17TH MARCH?
Category: Music
Dear diary, its been a few weeks since I last paid you attention, for that I do apologise.
The release of Enfant Terrible is near, both the physical and digital "singles" are coming out on the same day, that day being 17th March and St Patricks Day.
If you would normally intend to go to your local Magpie Records store and make this purchase, but are concerned that you may get carried away celebrating with the Irish then we've got something quite simply superb. A pre-order. Yes, you can click on this link, order your "single" in advance, and the postman will deliver it right to your front door, before you head out to the pub.
Click here, on this dark blue text to visit the pre order link Extra tracks available with the single include mixes from Riton, The Losers and The Shortwave Set, plus our take on The Beatles "A Hard Days Night" as featured on "Liverpool - The No.1's Album"
