My father has passed away.

On July 30, 2007 at 11:02am my father, Preben "Ben" Nielsen ended his long battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). He fought hard until the very end, as he did not want to leave me and my mother alone.

We are very sad to see him go, and he will be missed. However at the same time we are also comforted by the thought that he is no longer suffering from this devastating disease. It was an honor and privilege to be with him during his final moments, holding his hand.

Services will be help at:

Forrest Lawn Hollywood Hills, on Aug. 13, 2007 at 3PM.

Correspondence can be sent to:

The Nielsen Family

ALL THE KIDS WHO WERE BORN IN THE 1930's 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's !!

ALL THE KIDS WHO WERE BORN IN THE    1930's 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's !!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they carried us.

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, our baby cribs were covered with bright colored lead-based paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking .

As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags.

Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.

We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank soda pop with sugar in it, but we weren't overweight because......

WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem .

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 99 channels on cable, no video tape movies, no surround sound, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet or Internet chat rooms..........WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.

We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.

We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays,

made up games with sticks and tennis balls and although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just yelled for them!

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of.

They actually sided with the law!

This generation has produced some of the best risk!-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever!

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned

HOW TO

DEAL WITH IT ALL!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated our lives for our own good.

and while you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave their parents were.

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it?!

PS -The big type is because your eyes are shot at your age.

YaY!! I have a new job!!!

I got a new job!!! (But you probably got that from the title) I'll be working for NSPN Photography network, shooting action/sports photos. The pay is pretty good hourly, plus some Comm on my photos that sell. :) For those of you wondering, I'll still be doing the movie thing... so you can still get the free tickets from me. Over time I hope to build up the photo into a full time gig with the company (they've been around for 35 years). WOOO HOOO!!!!

So, I got pulled over today....

...For STOPPING for a guy walking the street. Turns out Glendale was giving away $25 to people who were stopping for people in the crosswalk, and giving them $200 tickets if they didn't stop. I was just leaving Star Ford where I won a free oil change, and them got $25 for being nice. Kinda cool....

I'll be dead on Monday.

I'll be dead Monday at 5:30pm. Its rather strange knowing when one will die, even if its only going to be for a couple of hours.

On monday I'll be taking part in a Fire Dept. rescue training excerise. I will be one of the "dead" victims of a building colapse, and being dead was my choice. Much less work that way... I could also have been criticly injured, but then I'd have to lay there moaning, and pretending to be hurt for a couple hours. Remember what my injuries are and what symptoms I have. Being dead, I just have to lay still, and from what I uderstand there will be make-up from some of the stuidios.  Should be an interesting experiance

...just hope they don't stick me in a body bag.

Flash Bang!!!
Current mood: Very Distracted

Flash Bang gernades (or a Sound and Light Distraction Device, the technical name) are very loud and bright when they go off in the same room with you. Trust me on this one...They work.  Very Very Well.

Corporate Study

Corporate Study

After a two-year study, the National Science Foundation announced the following results on Corporate America's recreational preferences.

1. The sport of choice for male unemployed or incarcerated people is BASKETBALL

2. The sport of choice for male maintenance level employees is BOWLING

3. The sport of choice for male front-line workers is FOOTBALL

4. The sport of choice for male supervisors is BASEBALL

5. The sport of choice for male middle management is TENNIS

6. The sport of choice for male corporate officers is GOLF.

Conclusion:
The higher you are in the corporate structure, the smaller your balls become!

Stupid Burbank Laws...

Some (most) of you know about my problems with some stupid burbank laws. Here's some new ones I just found out about. (And YES, this is what we pay the city councel to think up)

1. You are not allowed to move (or even touch) your neighboor's trash can. Even if it is blocking your parking space. Fine starts at $40

2. You are not allowed to leave your trashcan on the street for more than 12 hours. Fine $50, put on your electric bill... no pay, no power.

3. You are not to do any construction in the city on Sunday, or any legal holiday, with out permits. This includes any home repair work, even changing the lock on your front door, or any use of power tools. (This is a NEW law, not an old one still on the books) Repair a window on the 4th of July and go to jail. :)

4. Leaf blowers may only be used after 8am, and then for only for a certain number of mins depending on the size of your yard. (another NEW law). Does not apply to mowers, or weed eaters.

5. Semi trucks may only unload after 7am until 11pm. So those grocery trucks have to idle (to keep the freezers running) next to your house from 3am until 7am and keep you awake ALL night.
